Ivy's father put quote in paper supposedly by Gabe attesting to the value of the their leather boots without his knowledge. Now people are calling into question his ability to reassure about magical objects when he supposedly inherited no magic. Gabe will help Sylvia find out more information about the last known silver magician.

Gabe breaks off engagement with Ivy. Sylvia defends Gabe at the end, and he likes it. Gabe realizes Sylvia is a magician since the silver clasps call to her. Gabe admits to time slowing down or speeding up around him when in life-threatening situations.

Unsuitable girl with no family comes along both attracted to one another and have some understanding of the other. Close friends of Glass strongly discourage even friendship. He brings her along because he knows she can be helpful.

Helen got her life back, does lots of good things with Boots' money. married Sam. Her husband was institutionalized and no longer recognizes her. She made over the toy company and kept the Sassy Lassy business.

Thomas and Martha reunited and wed. Martin and Christie said I love you to the other. A kiss and that's the end. The last hour of the audio book was a prequel novel about Thomas and Martha's meeting and engagement.

The last communication attempt Frannie took letter and painting swearing to put it in Martha's hands. Instead, she gave them to Dorothy and told Martha that she was marrying Thomas in a few days. Then she lied to Thomas by telling him Martha was already married to someone else. Martha's letter to Thomas was also intercepted. Thomas had to accept that his wife of many years kept him away from his love.

The twist in the story is that Thomas named his son Thomas also and that was whose grave both Martha and Christie saw and assumed it was the senior Thomas. Frannie wanted Thomas for herself and colluded with Dorothy (who thought it was unsuitable) to keep these two apart. All of Thomas's letters were intercepted by Dorothy. The last attempt Frannie was to take letter and painting directly.

At this point most of the story is developed and Christie has left her fiance and gone back to the cottage. Some of the story is tragic, but I don't feel that emotion directly. It feels like it's from a third person point, even though much of the story is Christie in first person.

At end they each tell other they love indirectly then don't mention it later other than promising first dance at ball with the other. The murder was a brilliant female ward that was apparently also a little mad. Charlotte accidentally kills her with an electric rod while trying to keep herself from being murdered.

Charlotte faints when she hears her cousin has died and his twin is jailed for the murder. Wrexford helps her with investigation which is mostly unfruitful until the very end. Charlotte reenters society and the weasels are officially deemed her wards.

Rebecca had not killed the would-be rapist. She was the accepted illegitimate daughter of a lord and famous actress, but she knew none of this. The neighbor goes drunken crazy and lashes out at all around him. He thinks his wife is fleeing with the school teacher and comes armed to kill them both.

Rebecca was school friends with the neighbor who was married to a cruel drunkard slaveowner. Everyone is trying to uncover her past including Stanford's dumped mistress who hopes to connive her way to being his countess. She came, stayed with and had affair with the neighbor.

Stanford wanted nothing to do with James because he is the result of an affair between his new wife and his father while he was away with the military in Canada. The wife only fled at the last when the old Earl was going to give James away and claim he had died. All thought the wife fled when James was 2 months old because the old earl tried to pass him off as a son conceived before he left.

Rebecca met the original Countess as she fled to America with her newborn son who had a crippled hand. Rebecca promised to take care of James "Jamie" as her own and posed as a widow in Philadelphia to do just that. After 10 years, a lawyer came to take Jamie back to England. Stanford had promised his father on his deathbed that he would bring James back and make him the heir.

Turner intercepted a letter naming a date Prince Charlie was going to be at Barronsford to meet Portia, but when they showed up to capture him, he had already come and gone the day before. Turner spotted Portia and Helena and went to capture him. He went over the cliff and Pierce barely saved Portia from a fall herself.

Portia confessed all of her misdeeds to both the parson's wife that she lived with and then later to her mother. Her mother was going blind. Her mother encouraged her to go to Pierce because she could tell they loved each other. Pierce had a wonderful homecoming and met his Earl brother's new wife. Captain Turner went after them under orders from Helena's Admiral father.

Portia got to meet her mother in the garden, then plotted to become a companion to read French poetry. Helena was treated horribly, so Portia came up with a better plan & arranged passage for herself on one of Pierce's ships. Her mother was an unmentioned companion. She used everyone around her to get to her goal, Pierce, his groom, and the Captain all. This even included her friend that she borrowed the dress from.

Pierce caught up to her and recovered his carriage. He took her with him to a meeting at a seedy tavern then tried to seduce her. The family she lived with forced her to either leave or stop trying to get at her newly discovered mother who was effectively imprisoned in her father's home and treated as if she were crazy.

Book started with her at a party that she gained entrance to by allowing a would-be suitor to take her. She was going to run away and take her mother with her, but had no planning done. Instead, when she climbed up to her window, she only succeeded in scaring Helena and causing her to scream. Then she fled and ran into Pierce, followed by trying to steal his carriage to leave the grounds.

She was the daughter of Bonnie Prince Charlie and he came to visit/meet her then sent gifts to her wedding to Pierce.

When the twins were with Beth and Maud, the ladies titles were reversed and you didn't know whether to follow the titles, the names, or the references to understand the story. It was very confusing. I tried to follow names most of the time, but then they would refer to Beth as "the companion".

As Ronan is about to lose the fight and be killed, Elizabeth yells out her acceptance of the mate claim and that she loves him. The mate bond instantly forms, giving Ronan the strength to throw off the wolf and win the fight. Her ex drags her off and a very wounded Ronan goes after them. She grabs ex's gun as she pulls away from ex and Ronan confronts him. Maj Criminal shoots ex so Ronan doesn't have to kill.

Ronan mate claims Elizabeth early on to keep her from having to disclose her past that caused her to have no history prior to 6 years ago. They are regularly together. Liam & co convince major criminal to leave the area, but his larcenous brother wants revenge. He digs up her past and alerts him to her location. Plus he forces Ronan into a shifter fight with a crazy feral shifter who fights to the death.

Andrea is daughter of head Fae warrior tribe. Faction is coming after him by going after her and building rebellion in a nearby feline shifter community. They try to kill Gloria and Ronin. Her family is descended from the woman who put the spells on the guardian's sword.

Finn is promised to get and raise his niece if he gets the pieces of the plague map with the map walkers. They work together to find the pieces. Perry keeps getting put in serious harm's way. Once at the library and then again at the Airey. When collecting the last piece, the team must split up. Jari knocks out Sienna, then takes her and the map pieces back to Finn's and Perry's fathers.

Devlin caught his father with another woman. His father tried to pretend nothing happened and Devlin called his father out in a very public scene at the ball about his infidelity and demanded he take the woman away from their home. Afterwards, his mother told him he had to leave. His father told him he "had to grow up".

There is a new fortune teller at the fete. She seems to be telling realistic fortunes and not all good news. Gwyneth is told she will find love then he will leave for a long time and go far, far away. Devlin is told he will have an impossible choice between a destructive truth and a corrosive lie.

She realized her invitation to the tea with the king and queen was likely an attempt to marry her off to the German prince's son who was a distant cousin.

Their friend Tank died like his brother. Charlie was all torn up and visited in the middle of the night for solace.

We have only been introduced to the Ravenswood property and a short description of the characters, but it is a testament to MB's skill that it is so interesting while also being routine.
