Limon & Adderly turned on DeVeer & Quincy because the caricature invited attention to the shoddy maintenance practices of Quincy's ships and Limon was afraid of discovery. Then

2 plots afoot. Prussian wants fame & kills Beckman (1st guy). Liman, Quency, & DeVeer were going to buy slaves using a fast ship and sneak them onto Quency's American plantations. Quency would grow the plant (to treat malaria) in the swampy lands that he couldn't use because of workers getting malaria.

The story was interesting, but was slow to progress. I decided that I didn't want to hear that kind of story right now and set it aside.

The background really needs to be listened to while looking at a map. I found it hard to keep all the places straight just listening to it.

Lucy overcomes her issue with lords when Gerald explains that he wasn't raised to be a lord. His grandmother also explained that she was born in a tenant's cottage. Lesson 1: Get a good wardrobe... It's hard for people to talk down to you when you are dressed better than they are.

Reise got burned from workplace romance and steadfastly avoided a relationship with Chase for a while. He was pushing the entire time. She was even dating someone else at first. She has a safety phobia from interrupting a break in as a child.

Contemporary stories reflect the rudeness of modern society. Guess that's one of the reasons I prefer historical.

There is also that annoying part where she repeats the same 2 words 30 times. Ok, so it was only 29...

The body switches from her thoughts to his thoughts frequently without much transition so you are frequently confused about why a specific character is having those thoughts.

It reads like a rough draft. The same words are used again and again. He even thinks of himself in terms of "The billionaire CEO of Knight Enterprises" multiple times... Either he has a super ego or it's poor writing.

Rylie is so fixated on Jarrett "loving" her twin sister Carly that she doesn't listen to him. Along the way he realized that his happiness in grad school was from spending time in the twins apartment with both of them. Carly usually complained the times they went out alone. Rylie has a significant self-esteem issue when it comes to comparing herself to Carly. Jarrett ghosted Rylie after Carly left for Nashville.

He has become more and more withdrawn, friends are intervening.

Even though his physical shape is not adequate to escape if needed?

Noah & Jack weren't seen getting off the ship, he didn't come for her, after 2 days she checked hospitals to no luck. Noah had a plan to clear his name. Ginger returned to Cairo destitute and likely pregnant.

It is brilliant how Elenora tells the truth about being found in an agency to play it as the ultimate joke tying in with Arthur's statement a year before when his betrothed eloped with another man. The ultimate irony is that Arthur planned the elopement down to every detail except for the weather after he realized his choice of bride was not amenable.

Smythe was the nearby business owner supposed to be rich, but instead almost insolvent. He plotted to abduct Elsa and force her to marry him so he could have her money. He controlled the bank that held Elsa's money. Hill was his minion and the shooter and counterfeiter. Hill worked with Freddy and Culpepper to abduct Elsa.

A fake marriage ceremony and then two proposals. Hunt proposed to Clare in her office after she told him about her novels. Jack proposed to Elsa in the drive of pasture land he wishes to buy so that Elsa's horses have pasture land and he can start breeding carriage horses.

First Anna was in UK, but father had heart attack, then cancer so she was in US with him until she arrived on his doorstep with 4-6 weeks left to go. She had pains, rushed to hospital, then blood. She had a placental abruption, fortunately, no long term complications. Son Alex has two moms. She wrote book about experience and they had two more children.

The two-narrators setup has a problem that the main characters do not have a consistent voice. The Sig we hear for the first chapters is very different from the voice given to Sig's dialog by Anna's narrator and it creates a very disjointed listening experience.

Leo is nice, his cousin Sig is a jerk. Felicity is just biding her summer time before going off to law school. She lives with her wealthy foster mom widow.
