If you read closely, you can find the exact point where Philip K
Dick lost his mind.

Weird for the sake of weird and nothing else. Gonna read it, see where it goes, but I doubt I'll enjoy it. Seems to be made after Alan Moore convinced himself that he's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Very much better in book form than audiobook. I think the animé also helped me, but I have very strong mental imagery reading this.

Comic takes place in depression era Massachusetts. That's the 1930s.

12 pages in, comic mentions a sword "given to my by the Imperial Shogun himself." - cool, but how?
The shogunate was abolished with the Meiji Restoration in 1867.

Le sigh.

I'm gonna make it!

Still gives me heavy Jhereg-vibes, mixed with Fafhrd and The Grey Mouser - probably the huge city that feels like it mirrors Lankhmar or Ankh-Morpork and similar concepts.

Also has a stench if Gibson and Sterling and their Difference Engine.

If Jhereg was steampunk, and slightly weirder, it would be this book.

I don't know why I keep reading these.

Maybe it's literary fast food.

Maybe it's the fascination of a horrible car crash.

Maybe it's a longing for simpler days, when I hadn't read real books and thus couldn't see the myriad flaws.

Maybe it's hope that someone somewhere will still salvage something. That Heresy books may become readable, rather than barely passable teenage pulp.

Maybe it's a form of self harm.

Whew! What a huge comicbook!

I do like Superman, so of course, I'd also like Supreme.

Funny idea, really.

Make up a Superman-like character, Supreme, in the 90s, then make a comic about him regaining his memories and has he looks back, change style (writing and art) to something that fits the time (like when Supreme looks back on his Golden Age self, which in real life never existed).

Michael Shea writes amazingly well in the style of Jack Vance.

Really nails the prose and the namedropping tendencies.
Cugel's entire manners and character feels really spot on too.

I often hear the girls at book club bash men writing females (and not without good reasoning).

So here's me, criticising Rowell for writing gay sex.
Apparently, Rainbow Rowell never had gay sex (reasonable enough really) and didn't really research it.

As Simon and Baz gets older, they become less and less believable as men, rather than boys.
The romance is also getting increasingly unbelievable.
