Peter is on page 75 of 144 of Crack in the Wall: The Life and Death of Kowloon Walled City
Book's not even taking place in Kowloon Walled City anymore.
Now its only about Jesus craziness.
Pictures are nice and every once in a while, there's a tidbit og actual information about Kowloon, so I keep skimming ahead.

Peter
Peter is on page 53 of 144 of Crack in the Wall: The Life and Death of Kowloon Walled City
The book is now fully about Jesus and saving people.
The entire thing I wanted - something about Kowloon Walled City - is basically gone.
The remains could have been interesting, if it wasn't so absolutely unbelievable - there's no way a drug addict (heroin) prays *once* and then just stops doing drugs, without any withdrawal pains.
Not buying it.

Might not finish.

It was very good, but now Christian mysticism (talking in tongues, miracles, people suddenly have epiphanies) is showing up and that makes the narrator suddenly unreliable.
I'm not loving that.

Bit unfair to read an old book about a torturerer after having read a new book about one (First Law, Joe Abercrombie) - because this guy seems so incredibly tame and soft compared to San dan Glockta.

Peter is on page 81 of 243 of USAGI YOJIMBO Role-Playing Game 2nd Edition (SGP5101)
The artwork not from the actual Usagi Yojimbo comics is terrible and slobby. The tip of the kodachi turns the wrong way. Editing mistakes, such as saying the katana (longsword) is about 70 cms long, then proceeding to tell us that the short sword is...70 cms long?
Also shockingly bad paper quality.

Roger Zelazny has such good ideas, but I can't really help but find that he sucks a bit...

Eating these books. This one is war war war. Bit boring really, but well-written. Might be better if you haven't read 50 Warhammer books.

Crawling forward. It seems to be picking up again, so I guess I'd call the middle part really boring, sandwiched between two good bits.

So far, a lot of boring'ish war stuff.
Not badly written at all, I've just read it so many times before.
The nobles squabble, are generally arrogant and Incompetent, the campaign soldiers are ignored when trying to give input, nobles make idiot mistakes, foreign attacker has cannon tech, combat scenes, blades, clamour, war.
Makes sense. Book is still very good, I'm just waiting for battle to be over.

City of Thieves vibe.
This world feels like worn brown leather, stench of oil and sweat, black iron daggers in loose scabbards, scuffed wood.
I don't know why, but this particular book strikes some chord deep inside me.

Fifteen percent in and already, Abnett is fucking with the very basics of pariahs and psykers.
I'm sick of him just twisting the setting to fit what he wants, instead of respecting it. Just a little bit.
