"I'll say this about John Meaney. At least in the roughly eleven years since Dark Blood, he was writing books under another Pen Name. At least he was doing his job as an author and putting work out there.

At least he's not Patrick Rothfuss ;P"

"Okay, Book One complete. So far we have a cat that can tell stories but forgets them halfway through, a coin that always ends up back in your pocket no matter how many times its used, a talking fish that lives in a well, a mysterious divan which seems to be a universal translator, a thin metal cylinder that can alter gravity, all housed in a museum which happens to be Baba Yaga's chickenfoot hut.

Anything missed?"

Steven added a status update: You know how you can tell a book might be a wee bit shite? When the sample you download off Amazon is nothing but the introduction, with the author extrapolating on why they wrote the book instead of letting the book speak for itself.

Thanks Ayn Rand, you're really giving me good vibes here #allofmysarcasm

Muerte Con Carne by Shane McKenzie
"Ah, yes, for those who don't speak and understand Spanish, MUERTE CON CARNE means, directly translated, 'Ejaculate of the Anorexic Octopus'. It is a social commentary of the far reaching effect eating disorders can have when projected by influence..." Read more of this review »

Philip K. Dick
“It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.”
Philip K. Dick, VALIS

H.P. Lovecraft
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.”
H.P. Lovecraft

George Bernard Shaw
“Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”
George Bernard Shaw
