Kevin, I'm not fussed they've both had fantastic reviews on goodreads. I'm leaning slightly more to TSID.

I read TSID last year but may be up for a second read already. It had a profound impact on me. . Afraid was a fun read too so I don't think you will be disappointed with whichever choose

message 103: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Yeah, both are good books.

Kate | 3525 comments Anyone else for Afraid??

message 107: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Kuenkler | 11 comments This is going to be really silly question...the covers that are posted for the buddy read is so tiny on my computer that I can't read the titles as well as the authors, so I am kinda in the dark as to what we are discussing...LOL

message 108: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Kuenkler | 11 comments So what are the titles?

message 109: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Kuenkler | 11 comments Thank you for the info. They both look good.

message 110: by Kate (new)

Kate | 3525 comments It looks like theres more interest for Afraid.

Going by the posts the reading group would be:

Kate
Addy
Debbie
Kevin

If anyone else wants to join in the more the merrier.

How about next Monday for the start date?

message 111: by Justin (new)

Do the titles not appear if you hover your cursor over the thumbnails?

message 117: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5111 comments Kate, I'll give Island a try. Maybe after Afraid?

Kate | 3525 comments Addy wrote: "Kate, I'll give Island a try. Maybe after Afraid?"

Great, sounds like a plan :)

message 119: by [deleted user] (new)

This book? Island by Richard Laymon
I have it but haven't read it yet, I could join.

message 120: by [deleted user] (new)

I notice many of us have The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty marked for the 2013 reading challenge. I was planning to read it March/April. Any brave (braver than me!) souls want to join?

message 121: by Teresa (last edited Feb 27, 2013 01:23PM) (new)

Teresa B. | 883 comments ok..this is going to sound silly but I keep seeing buddy reads what is it exactly..do you guys email after and talk of the book?

message 122: by Tressa (last edited Feb 27, 2013 01:48PM) (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Teresa, on page 1 there is an explanation of Buddy Reads:

I thought we'd give Buddy Reads a try at HA. Buddy Reads is when you want to read/discuss a book with a few people as you're reading it. Kind of like a Group Read only a book doesn't have to be voted on. So if you're bummed that your book didn't make the Group Read cut, just see if a few other people want to read it along with you in the Buddy Read section.

This thread is for all of our members who are interested in reading with a buddy/buddies.

1) Post the title link/image of the book you would like to read.

2) Post the dates you intend to read the book.

3) If you're interested in joining a nominated book, post your name along with the link/image of the book.

4) Create a thread with the title of the book and list the names of the participants.

5) Decide as a group if you want to read a certain number of chapters a night; if you want to include spoilers, etc.

message 123: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments I'd be interested in doing some buddy reads this year for some of the books I haven't read on HA's Best Horror Books list so they can count toward my 2013 and Best Horror Books challenge. I'll check soon and post some of the titles; maybe some others need to read those, too.

message 124: by Teresa (new)

Teresa B. | 883 comments ah..thank you!! I keep seeing buddy reads and really had no idea and i tend to read the books I see posted anyway..I just didn't do any follow up

message 125: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5111 comments Yeah Traci, you can join us for Island but I'm not sure when we will start. Keep checking back. Maybe mid March?

message 126: by Kate (new)

Kate | 3525 comments Is anyone interested in buddy reading Trapped by Jack Kilborn ?

Looking to start it in the next week or so.

Fantastic Tracy, I'll post with a date once it's confirmed.

message 128: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany I'm in for both Laymon's Island and the Exorcist. I got both of them on sale for my kindle, but I haven't started them yet.

message 129: by [deleted user] (new)

I got them both on sale too. Yea for cheap books!!

I'll probably read The Exorcist in April. But really I can move the read up or down, I'm flexible.

message 130: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 82 comments I'd be up for The Exorcist, I don't mind when we read it.

message 131: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany I don't mind either. Whatever month is most convenient for you is fine.

message 132: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 82 comments Well since Traci said April, we could just do April? That's fine by me, unless anyone else has any other preferences?

message 133: by [deleted user] (new)

April's good for me.
