Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments I'm a bit torn today, I want to finish Carrie but it's also the Germany vs Netherlands game tonight - normally I hate football but I love the friendly rivalry going on between all the people I know, so I like to join in.

I think I can still finish it though!

message 202: by Sue (new)

Sue I ate a real enchilada last night but haven't finished the reading one yet.

Mikki Maria wrote: "DONE!

Enchilada FINISHED.

107 points for me.

12:20am... ready to sleep.

Good luck Topplers!"

CONGRATS! The first on our team to bring it on home!

Robin | 263 comments I'm afraid I haven't been doing very good a this tbr toppler, but the week isn't over yet. I'm totally going to blame it all on Downton Abbey Series 2, which I've been watching in the evenings instead of reading. I did begin listening to The American Heiress though I think it is going to take longer than I'd hope. I still have 2 other books from the library I could read, but I don't like reading multiple books at one time. Oh and I believe Judy has allowed me to join the Tipplers since appparently they were short a member! when I have something to report I'll report it there!

Snoozie Suzie (snooziesuzie) | 937 comments Erm 10 plus 2 does not make 7, Judy and Maria. :-)

message 206: by Snoozie Suzie (new)

Snoozie Suzie (snooziesuzie) | 937 comments I am so fed up with The Diary of a Nobody. But at last I have finished it! Thank goodness.

Took small to the beach this afternoon and started reading To Romania with Love on my kindle as a something new. Continuing with that tonight, as I must get one finished to get my first enchilada completed. I must I must I must

message 207: by Mikki (new)

Mikki I will be noshing on an enchilada by morning. Yum!

message 208: by Kat (new)

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments I'll be having an enchilada for dinner tomorrow! One more work day to go and then I can get some serious reading hours in!

message 209: by Mikki (new)

Mikki Kat, we need a nice cold beer to go with our meal.

For sure! Nothing like an ice cold beer with an enchilada - nomnom!

You see, Judy??? That is why I'm afraid of my property. Diseases are lurking everywhere. I took the puppy out yesterday and a groundhog was running around. That was it for me. I'm buying him an exercise pen. Glad your poison ivy is better.

message 212: by Sue (last edited Jun 13, 2012 03:18PM) (new)

Sue I started both A Pale View of Hills and The Housekeeper and the Professor. The Housekeeper can be both "new" or "blue" because of it's nice cover. Pale would be "old" as it's written in 1982 (unless it has to be BEFORE 1982).

message 213: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments jaxnsmom: Not full yet... but NO TEA today. I'm sick of swallowing, and I've got a sore throat. *headdesk*

Janice: You'd think I would, but I don't.

Thank you, Mikki.

LOL, Judy! I think, however, that you missed my 10 point Enchilada. It's at the very top of my score card. So I'd have 75 points for category, making it 112 points total, if I read right.

Kat, you're doing great! I'm just a ridiculous fiend that has 12 hours a day to read, if not more. Today, however, we're sightseeing. My trusty iPod will be in my pocket the whole time. You wouldn't believe how much reading is possible merely at streetcorners waiting for the light to change... of course being Malaysia there ARE no lights, but there's maps and deciding which way to go!

message 214: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments Oh, also, will there be any headlines today?

message 215: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments Have 3 fairy tales on my iPod that will last me about 40 minutes... (next step with this app is figuring out how to get more than three chapters! It's vastly annoying.)

Now writing book reviews, but will soon start Rock Paper Tiger for my New category.

No tea.

It's bliss.

message 216: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments Yes. Not running, exactly, but every 30-90 minutes I have to go down, use the bathroom, and come back up. The staff must think I've got some serious disease, because the cleaning lady goes in and hoses down the toilet seat VERY frequently. XD

Will take 2.5 cups of tea in my waterbottle, though, and I'll drink 7.5 more later today, since I. don't. like. half-points.

... weird, I couldn't see your posts before! I don't like suspense. -_- OH WELL. More reading because I won't be checking all the time!

Beautiful??? I nearly passed out when I saw that thing. LOL

message 218: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments ... but it's a woodchuck! NOT EVEN FLESH EATING! Just a few grubs and lots of grass and vegetation comprise its diet!

Hence= cute. Honestly, it's like a fat bunny with a weirder tail, thicker fur, and smaller ears. Also more useful forepaws.

message 219: by Sue (new)

Sue Wow, the things we learn during these topplers!

message 220: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments I must admit I looked it up and woodchucks aren't exactly my favorite animal... but don't tell Tajma. XD

message 221: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments 6 reviews written, 3 to go!

message 222: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4050 comments Wohoo jaxnsmom and Maria for finishing the whole Enchilada! Absolutely wow!

message 223: by Sue (new)

Sue I'm so glad I was looking at other's reports in the reporting thread. I forgot about the 10 points for the whole enchilada. That is a nice plus.

message 224: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (indiereadergirl) | 14 comments Alas, barely got any reading done. I got up to page 35 in The Two Gentlemen of Verona. Tomorrow, I will have more time away from distractions to read.

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11470 comments I think smell Mexican food!!! ☺

message 226: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments Thank you, Pragya! It was hard.

Just got back from sightseeing. We HAVE the South Africa Visas, thus our trip is going on as planned. Will be reading madly now till nine. Hopefully I can finish the Grey Fairy Book and Rock Paper Tiger.

Wishing the Topplers luck!

message 227: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments 42% through Rock Paper Tiger. If I wasn't this far... if it wasn't a New book... if I had more TIME before reporting... *headdesk*

On the brightside, 5 cps of tea!

message 228: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments Just looked up the synopsis of this book again...

WHAT am I doing? Reading some book I'd never pick up unless it wasn't the best of the worst. 53% through but not very happy about it... there's still 47% to go!

I need encouragement.

message 229: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments HA!

That made the day better, Judy, thank you!

I remember cutting the stems and using the juice (i.e. rubbing the stems on my face). I'm not sure if that's the most effective way or not. :)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments Googled it, Judy:

Seems to be the same advice.

Congratulations, Amanda! Definitely no small feat!

Will finish this book tonight if it kills me, then never read a political thriller again.

What's the best book you guys have read this toppler?

message 232: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Starting my tea drinking a little early and then getting to work on that Enchilada.

We can do this Topplers!!!

AHA!!! Now just imagine encountering the little beast on a casual stroll...

message 235: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments It sounds awesome, Judy! I've added it to my TBR list!

Of course, Amanda! This is just something to keep the Tipplers' spirits up. Definitely not permanent.

Tajma... as long as it's not charging... it's really not that bad. It's a cute little animal ingesting its necessary nutrients. And definitely very, very tame. Imagine monkeys who will steal the glasses off your nose, or ones who grab onto your skirts, or... I could go on about monkeys. I'm starting to like the insects MUCH MORE than the mammals on this trip! At least with those you always know what to expect.

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11470 comments Maria wrote: "I'm starting to like the insects MUCH MORE than the mammals on this trip! At least with those you always know what to expect....."

I don't know.....I always think of insects as crawly little creatures that can creep across your body while you sleep. Eewww!

message 237: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Woodchucks are pests on working farms, but harmless. In my experience growing up sunburned with dirt under my nails. I always wore good gloves & used a hoe when weeding brushy or overgrown areas and never got poison ivy.

I'm almost home to WI, in Alexandria MN! Listened to a whole audiobook in the car and drank tea at every opp. - off to try to do my points....

message 238: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments Almeta wrote: I don't know.....I always think of insects as crawly little creatures that can creep across your body while you sleep. Eewww!

That is exactly what they do! The ants crawl all over you. The big ants are more annoying, since they tickle more. The mosquitoes bite. The spiders tend to be harmless, except when they're big ones. Cockroaches we've seen, but they don't do much. Flies buzz and try to get into your nose and mouth. But insects are predictable, which makes them pretty safe, and mammals aren't. A dog can bark, or it might suddenly decide to bite.Ants, spiders, cockroaches, and flies don't, or if they do, it feels like a mosquito bite.

YAY, Cheryl!

message 240: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Ok, whew, I think I got 'em. I thought there was something about audiobooks, but maybe that was for Janice's Beach Read challenge? The Toppler focusses on the Whole Enchilada theme and tea, with bonuses basically for doubling up and for trilogies or series, and page count score to keep us honest?

message 241: by Maria (new)

Maria (aminowrimo) | 463 comments The audiobooks are for the Beach Read, Cheryl. ^_^

Finished 2nd Enchilada! Finished trilogy! Ready to tackle a third enchilada! Too many exclamation points! Doesn't matter!

It's 11:30pm here, so I'll go to bed now if I can stop using exclamation points in my head.

Keep going, Topplers!

Nice going, Maria. Get some shut eye now cause we've got three days to go!

message 244: by Tajma (new)

Tajma Just finished 3 of 4 for my enchilada. I have three days to finish #4, which gives me some relief. The rest of the day has to be spend with my little Bartleby and my script!

message 246: by Kat (new)

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments I'm ALMOST finished my enchilada. Off to read the last of it whilst eating nachos (almost an enchilada, kinda) and having that cold beer. And then tomorrow - the marathon begins!

I have earned one enchilada and am now working on a 2nd. I've also completed a trilogy. Got lots of points because I've been drinking green tea nonstop every day. Heeehaw!

message 248: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60042 comments Ha! I had nachos for lunch too. Now I'm going to go read for the rest of my lunch break.

message 249: by Kat (new)

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments LOL! Now we're getting into the theme!

Enchilada finished - yay!

message 250: by Mintymedley (new)

Mintymedley | 60 comments I finished Young Justice: A League of Their Own today with 3 more cups of tea.
I am moving on to The Great Psychedelic Armadillo Picnic: A "Walk" in Austin. I was going to read this one before I left for Texas but couldn't find the time. It is pretty cool though, now I have a visual to add to the words.
How is the poison ivy going, e-Mom? Feeling better?
