Cheers

Granthams of blackpool. Ask for Tshirt printing when the girl answers."

The beggar of it is, I was looking more for a polo shirt, and sewn rather than just printed. :-(

message 2603: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I was after a more 'real' image than just a printed sweat shirt, I wanted something that might have been a piece of Tsarina issue kit. I'll phone them tomorrow morning and ask what they're going to do about it then I've got the rest of the day to hunt for stuff. But I'll be travelling on Wednesday, have a funeral taking up much of Tuesday PM, I've got to help someone through a cattle inspection on Monday, so it's getting tight

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Sounds good, Jim. It'll be a pity if you don't get them in time.

message 2606: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I'll see what tomorrow brings (other than rain. It's persisting down here now!)

message 2607: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Here too.

Not down so much as sideways.

message 2608: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments In the west the rain normally comes in horizontal which is why so few of us bother with umbrellas

message 2609: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Jim, you could try my friend John who has a computerised embroidery machine?

message 2610: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments got contact details?

message 2611: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I'll PM you

message 2612: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments See???

We can't help each if we don't talk to each other!

message 2613: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Anyway I've got the shirts.
Well almost got the shirts.
I now have met the two ladies who actually do the work (not the YTS six year old in the shop who is supposed to liaise and everything is up and running
I get them tomorrow after 1pm

Strangely their workshop is in part of what used to be an old dairy. It opens out onto a loading bay.
Many years ago I wheeled 10 gallon milk churns along that bay and into what is now their workshop :-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I hope the shirts don't smell of sour milk then ;)

message 2615: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Let's hope they don't curdle.

Good news, Jim!

What's YTS?

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Youth Training Scheme
now no longer called that - generally shorthand for ineptitude by a youngster!

message 2617: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Your ageism is showing, darling. ;)

Oh! Did I mention there was about 40 American teenagers on our flight back from Greece?

We somehow ended up in the midst of them in the check in queue we were forced to wait in for three hours as the computers were down.

Was quite fun, actually. They were returning home from a school trip through Italy and Greece.

I made a bunch of them give me oral reports on their trip. ;)

message 2618: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Always a school teacher eh, Patti?

message 2619: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Sickening, isn't it?

message 2620: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments My late mother is probably starting to take an interest in this thread, she was a teacher, started work fully qualified at the age of 19!

message 2621: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh. I better watch my language then.

message 2622: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I'm sure that any teacher knows all those naughty words, Patti.

Taught by the children, probably

message 2623: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I've always learned my best swears from teenagers.

message 2624: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Well I'm home
Loncon was amazing
Or at least the dealer hall was, I never actually saw anything else there.
Working with Will and Barrie was a joy, and I'm sure Will will agree with me that working with Barrie was a real education on how selling should be done!

I may sleep now

message 2625: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I'd second that. Listening to Barrie really made me laugh on Saturday.

Sleep well.

Cheers

MTM

message 2626: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I don't think you were supposed to laugh at Barrie so much as swoon into his arms, Mary...

It was a genuine masterclass though.

message 2627: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Barrie is the Man!
Seriously he is a really nice chap and a joy to work with

message 2628: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Apparently his book A Higher Authorityis also a damned good read as well. I was going to get a copy but he sold out!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments That polo shirt looked good. Turned out very well, and looked good with the henna tattoo!

message 2630: by M.T. (last edited Aug 18, 2014 02:33PM) (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments [Smug mode] I bought one. [cancel smug mode]

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments A shirt, a tattoo or a Jim?

message 2632: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Or all three?

message 2633: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments A Barrie book. :-)

message 2634: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Gingerlily - Elephant Philosopher wrote: "That polo shirt looked good. Turned out very well, and looked good with the henna tattoo!"

Yes. I was chuffed with the shirt. I talked to the lass at the store, they can do them for me for £15 plus postage

message 2635: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Gingerlily - Elephant Philosopher wrote: "A shirt, a tattoo or a Jim?"

Somethings are not merely not for sale, they are beyond price

message 2636: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments No, you said they're £15 plus postage.

message 2637: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Well the tattoo is cheaper, it doesn't need posting

message 2638: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'm gobsmacked that our Jim got a tramp stamp.

message 2639: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Gone off the rails, no doubt, while in the Smoke.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments It was all because a pretty girl smiled at him.

message 2641: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Ah, that explains it.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Jim got a tattoo??? Where?

message 2643: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments In London, Rosemary.

message 2644: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Ha! Just cracked myself up and Dave told me to hush he's trying to watch TV.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I knew someone would say that, I just knew it. The only question was which one of you would it be!

message 2646: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments You can see it if you like his Tsarina page on Facebook.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments *rushes off to look*

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Oh, his arm...

message 2649: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Rosemary (The Nosemanny) wrote: "Oh, his arm..."

LOL

Not only that but it's a henna tattoo as well, paints on and wears slowly off. I guess it'll be gone in a few more days

message 2650: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Yes, the last traces of the Henna tattoo have finally gone :-)
Anyway I'm hoping to be away for a few days, my better half and I are actually having a holiday.
So play nicely until I get back :-)
