Fran | 12278 comments Hi Everyone!

Hina seems to be the leader at the moment with a lot of titles read in all three tracks- great job Hina!

There are many of you with several titles read for several tracks- eveyone seems off to a great start :)

Hope you are all enjoying the challenge so far, and not too many bumps in the road. It's all about having fun while finding some new titles to read :)

Vi | 2794 comments Somehow, Hina being the leader doesn't surprise me. I can't think why!

That reminds me - I need to get back into the challenge.

Tina "IRead2Escape" (tinar1121) | 1292 comments I'm just excited about taking all kinds of new directions with my reading. Only 2 of the titles that I plan on reading were on my TBR shelf. Might discover a new author I can't live without.

message 54: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments yeah, not surprised with Hina being the leader either...and i've had the attention span of a gnat recently, which hasn't helped the whole reading thing

message 55: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I wanted to try and read as many books as I could that I already own, but I keep finding new ones and either borrowing or buying them. I will never get my tbr pile down!

I'm with you, Fran. That was my initial goal. Then I found myself going crazy trying to find a track that had books that I already owned or were on my TBR already. I just threw in the towel and gave over to the new choices...lol.

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) I don't know how I did not notice this tournament before. I love the idea. I always planned to do something like this, but never actually did it. This is just the right motivation. :)

Fran | 12278 comments Hi Everyone!

Thought I would give a little update-

Hina is tearing it up with 114 points!!

Way to go Hina! There are lots of participants in the high teens and twenties. Everyone is doing great so far!

Please make sure to post a points tally at the top of your post- it's a real help for us in trying to keep track of everyone's total points.

My first track has stalled. I started out with a contemporary romance that didn't have any kink factor and somehow ended up with a list of BDSM books since then. I enjoy a little BDSM in my books on occassion, but I think I've had enough for now, lol. I am concentrating on the other two tracks for now. Trying not to end the track completely and lose 5 points. Just taking a break from it.

Hope everyone is enjoying the challenge so far :)

I keep getting sidetracked by books that don't fit any of my tracks. The best one for me has been the one with mostly Kindle books because I read on my Kindle at work. But now that track has come to an end as far as Kindle books for me and the next book will have to print for it.

Hina (hinaj) | 2581 comments Well I know you guys might not appreciate it, but I have noticed this month that compared to what I usually read and finish, I just feel so tired all the time lately that I fall asleep reading like at 9, when before I couldn't fall asleep till 11 or 12. Even then I find my attention wandering away in the evening, the only time I am getting any reading done is in the morning and afternoon. I am useless for the rest of the day. I don't know why, especially since I have more time now than I did last month. I am going to ease back on the reading, or whatever that is for me. It is just odd (for me anyways :)) Maybe I will write some of the reviews that I have been putting off.

These are also some of the classic symptoms of being hypothyroid - and issues with your thyroid require medication. There aren't any natural alternatives and it doesn't generally go away. ...I know, because I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis - it sounds a lot worse than it is. It's an autoimmune disease and means I have an underactive thyroid gland. It is managed by 1-2 pills a day and I have no side effects while I'm on the medication. Before I went on the medication, I was tired all the time, felt cold, lost hair, bad reflexes, etc etc. I ignored these symptoms for over 10 years, and functioned fine - but evidently I was lucky to not have put on a lot of weight which is what most ppl do ('cos they are tired and lethargic).

The other sickness I had where I was tired all the time was Ross River Fever - this is caused by mosquito bites, so not sure if this is an issue where you live. This can be pretty severe - I was lucky and only had tiredness and arthritic issues for a month or so.

And then of course, there is also the 'kissing disease' that so many ppl catch at Uni (at least over here) - we call it Glandular Fever, but I think you call it 'Mono'. I had that and didn't even know it - showed up on a blood test later. But given I also had thyroid problems, I was just living with being tired anyway :)

Anyway, I'm not saying you have any of the above, but tiredness is often your body telling you that it is fighting something and it is working overtime to try to cure itself...

*end of dissertation*
