Glad to hear it! I guess so many of us tend to push ourselves too hard - wanting to finish faster, do better, do more. Just enjoy it - there are so many of the good things we miss out on as a result (a lesson I am really working on, we'll see how I do once I am back at work next week. I usually get way too involved and take too much on. While I am not in school, I have a schedule like you, with everything back to back and no breaks.. this year off has been great, and I have my fingers crossed that it will continue!)
Hey Everyone! This challenge ends in a mere 10 days. Please update your point totals and squeeze in those last minute reading choices if you can. This challenge seemed to fly by for me, but unfortunately I only totaled 31 points. It was harder than I thought to follow my tracks, but I still had fun generating new lists and finding a few new titles that I enjoyed.
I hope everyone had some fun with this one, despite some difficult and challenging road blocks along the way :)
I think this challenge was a great way to "connect" books in a row - I started late and let other things get in my way, but it was still lots of fun!
I agree! It was a lot of fun and I'm actually going to miss it, even if I got stuck at several points (right now for example). I did find a few new favorites which I probably would not have picked up otherwise!
Sadly, I slowed down on this one, too. I participated in the Summer Camp NaNoWriMo which took up most of my free time. I'm looking forward to the next challenge!
Thanks for the reminder Fran. This was a great tournament I discovered a lot of great new books this way. :)
I liked it too but didn't do as well as I thought. I kept getting sidetracked by the Bookshelf Bingo game in the SOS group and books I ahd to read for paperbackswap and book clubs.
UpdateI didn't do quite as good as I wanted to but this was certainly fun and it introduced me to books/authors that I might not have come across otherwise so thanks for that. Am trying to read one more book before the end that will give me one more point. We'll see if I make it :0)
3rd Reading Tournament - follow the leader
4/15 -9/15/12
Track 1 points: 7
Track 2 points: 14
Track 3 points: 9
Total pts:30
Do you want us to do a final totals post on the 14th?(I'm still reading, but have slowed down tremendously!)
Hi Nicola,You can post your totals on the 15th if you want. The challenge doesn't end until then so you can wait until then if you like. I'll post the totals a few days after that in case anyone forgets and posts a little later :)
I haven't read any books for this challenge this month. But work has been busy busy...hopefully I will get a few more in during the weekend.
Hina wrote: "I haven't read any books for this challenge this month. But work has been busy busy...hopefully I will get a few more in during the weekend."I haven't finished any books this month! Returning to work is NOT what it is cut out to be!!
I think I've done my dash Fran - totalling 35 points; but I suppose I had better check one more time to make sure I don't have other suitable books I can fit in!
Jane, nice job with 35 points :)I stalled out about a month ago. So many BDSM, m/m short freebies....I'm a little surprised I could get weary of those genres but I did :)
ROFL!I just stalled because they books weren't fitting in with my reading plan - which is eclectic at times, and somewhat out of control with the Bingo challenge in another group!
I think I am done with a total of 73 points. I will try to finish off one more but everytime I open a book my eyes seem to close these days. Trying to catch up on monthly challenge reading totals and can't seem to do that either. Great challenge - thanks Fran!

I'm at 61. I picked up a book from the library that I can use for this and the Dance Party group game I'm doing. Whether I will have it done in time for this is another question.
Good work Mary and Nicole :)I think the difficulty of this particular tournament was that it was hard to cross-challenge the books. You pretty much had to read specifically for these lists - and then work back into other challenges, rather than working both ways.
Thanks! Way to go Mary!!Looking forward to the next tourny. I foolishly tried to take Hina on in this one - not sure what I was thinking! ;). Next one I will set a more reasonable goal for myself!
I was hoping to fit one more YA book in - but I requested it from the library and now it has been marked as lost/missing - boo!
I'm done with a total of 57 points. I agree with Jane that it was just really hard to cross-challenge the books. Thanks for the fun challenge. Can't wait to see what you come up with next!
update.. that was a really nice tournament..

Thanks for posting your final scores in a new post for me Nicola, Ashwag and Lynne- that makes it a lot easier for me :)The challenge is still open until the end of today for anyone trying to finish up a last read. I will have the final totals posted within a few days after that. Don't forget to update your points totals :)
I have seen the basic outline for the next tournament and it looks great! I really think you will all love it. I know I am excited for it. D.G. will be hosting her idea and I can't wait! Look for it in about 2 weeks or so.

I thought it ended last night - I am 60% through my next book and have to sit at gymnastics for an hour with a broken computer! Just might make it - will repost if I do.
Go for it Nicola! You have until the end of the 15th to finish and where I am (NY) that's not for another 15 hours :). You can go by my location if you like.

Yay! Can't wait for the new one. This was so much fun. :)

We are actually 22 hours away from each other, that doesn't bode well for a coffee meet up :(

My husband's close college friend lives in the Buffalo area so we took our first borns when they were little. Walked across the bridge from the NY side to the Canadian side. Now I need my passport to get into Canada and I don't have one! Back in the old days (early 90's) we only needed our driver's licenses.

LOL....Fran no passport. How can that be?!?

Hina, I know! We keep saying we have to do it but haven't gotten around to it. We haven't travelled out of the U.S. since the requirement. We've been to the Bahamas, St. Maarten, Puerto Rico and Canada, but all when they only required a driver's license. I really need to get one!

LOL...I should be talking, I am the biggest procrastinator on things that have deadlines...I only got my passport like two years ago and that too because I was flying to Singapore. Literally, I got my passport Thursday afternoon, and I had my flight early the next morning.

(Yes - I am a tease, but my sister is worse! Be glad she doesn't read romance ;)"
Yes, but I can't help myself...LOL. I'm ready to start a blog soon for the books I read and write reviews. LOL. But I think its going to be fun!!
You know its the curiosity that has me reading way past my bed time because I can't wait to know what happened. LOL. Good thing that we are not too far off the finish line.
