Taylor | 0 comments Okay, what soundtracks have been mentioned since I last posted? I saw Holden's post about John Williams. I agree, he doesn't have so much a style as a small bucket of techniques that he pours on each movie he does. I mean, it's beautiful and nobody does anything quite like him, but he also does nothing else.

Sarah (sarah_endipity) | 819 comments Omgg! Yes! I died of laughter

message 1511: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 0 comments Yup. And that's us in a nutshell. We really do that sort of stuff -- the singing, the competitive nature, asking people to remember tunes. XD

message 1512: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah_endipity) | 819 comments ........bahahahahahahahahahha!!!!!!!! Whoa whoa!!! Are you serious? I need to be around these people XD

message 1513: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 0 comments I compose. Not yet on the grand scale of John Williams, but I have many of the same quirks. I whistle more than talk. XD

message 1514: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah_endipity) | 819 comments You need to do that in class, church, weddings, and funerals. Note reactions

message 1515: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 0 comments I've done it in class. New teachers are still weirded out.

Done it in church. Everyone just tunes me out.

Don't know anyone getting married for at least another two years.

I'm usually crying at the funerals I attend. But I can show up at a random one, if that counts.

message 1516: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah_endipity) | 819 comments I want to look up the cow suit thing tomorrow.

message 1523: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 0 comments Howard Shire?

Is that Mr. Shore in hobbit form? :P

Alexandre Desplat...still don't fully appreciate him. He just doesn't write memorable themes.

message 1526: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 0 comments Moonrise Kingdom. Fits my point almost exactly. It was his best score by far, but that's like commenting on how Grumpy is the tallest of the seven dwarves or something. He's still short. Similarly, Moonrise Kingdom was really good, but it's like the best of my least favorite of composers. Does that make sense?

Except when the victim of our teasing knows it's all in fun. Then he/she laughs along, so it's not mean.

So, I'm reading this book. "Perks of Being a Wallflower." All you hipster writers who like indie movies should have read it. I have a question. Why does Charlie have such a childish voice for a sixteen-year-old? Like, it's endearing and I love him, but his naïveté is really surprising.

Yay, Perks! <3 I love that book. The movie is great, too.

I don't think it's that he's necessarily "childish" but that in the beginning, he's not really supposed to be that good of a writer. But his voice gets more mature as the story progresses and he reads and learns more, etc. I get what you mean, though ... there are times when he also just seems unrealistically naïve. Like, he's 15 and doesn't know what masturbation is ... um. But yeah, he's cool.
