Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I'm back from Napa which means I hardly read this weekend. I had a blast w friends, drinking wine, eating and NKOTB. http://instagram.com/p/X0IMNKs_dx/

I did finish Love Irresistibly by Julie James on Saturday. Not sure what to read next.

message 8202: by Leea (new)

Leea How fun Kay!! I don't know what to read next either, so if you have a suggestion. I'm all ears.

message 8203: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments It was so fun Leea :)

What are you in the mood for? Any particular genre?

I'm gonna check out the poll for the Viking romances. I never read any in this subject. When is the group planning on reading it?

message 8204: by Leea (new)

Leea Me either. I put the start date for next monday but if people are having a problem we can change it.

I'm totally lost... anything will do. sorry, i'm no help.

Hi angie, hope we could be friends. I love the dream man series of kristen ashley. Have you read the rock chick series? :)

message 8206: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Ok, I just voted in the poll.

Well, I'm in a rut too so not sure how much of a help I can be. LOL

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished Own the Wind (Chaos, #1) by Kristen Ashley and it was okay.
Also finished Strangelets by Michelle Gagnon and it was strangely different but interesting.

message 8208: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Once again I am not getting notifications for any threads. Ugh!

I finished reading Feral Sins (The Phoenix Pack, #1) by Suzanne Wright . I absolutely loved this book. I forgot how much I enjoy shifter books. And these were some mighty fine shifters.

I am still reading Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3) by Cassandra Clare and I will be starting Touch & Geaux (Cut & Run #7) by Abigail Roux for a group read, and let's face it, it is Ty and Zane. I can't stay away from them.

message 8209: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Marcella I love the Phoenix pack too! Thanks to Stacia for introducing me. It is fun and sexy, the group of friends/pack mates are great.

message 8210: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I started Trespass by Meg Maguire -- yes I am obsessed with Meg Maguire/Cara McKenna. It is good so far.

I am really excited b/c I just found out Carolyn Crane has a new series coming out Against the Dark (Associates, #1) by Carolyn Crane this month!

message 8211: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kay wrote: "Ok, I just voted in the poll.

Its funny how often we all go into a reading rut, even though we are reading tons!

How was the concert?

message 8212: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Regina, it was great...kind of hectic bc so many fans crashed the event who didn't have tickets. But it was awesome! I posted my instagram pic in comment 8258.

So true about the reading ruts which I feel like I experience weekly. LOL

message 8213: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Regina wrote: "Marcella I love the Phoenix pack too! Thanks to Stacia for introducing me. It is fun and sexy, the group of friends/pack mates are great."

It reminds me of the Halle Puma series by Dana Marie Bell, which is great if you have never read them.

message 8214: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I haven't. Thanks Marcella!

Kay those pictures are great.

message 8215: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Regina wrote: "I haven't. Thanks Marcella!

I highly recommend Dana Marie Bell's books. I enjoy them so much. Her characters crack me up and they are sexy as hell.

message 8216: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) And I was running out of books. Hahaha - :)

Thank you for the recommendation.

message 8217: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm in a rut too... no clue what to read next and I want something good.

message 8218: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Leea...you have to read the Halle Puma series too. If you are in the mood for shifters, those are your books.

message 8219: by Leea (new)

Leea I'll look into those. I think i'm going to start Parting Gifts by Lorraine Heath . Heath never lets me down.

message 8220: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Thanks, Regina!

Leea...you can't go wrong with Heath's westerns!

message 8221: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I love the set up of that Heath book. I think there was even a movie with Farrah Fawcett like that ...... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111304/ -- except the wife was dying -- and there was some bed swapping going on. I saw it on lifetime, lol.

But man, that Heath cover is ugly. :(

message 8222: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Interesting the movie and the book came out the same year!

message 8223: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Sorry for so many posts -- is it steamy Kay? Sometimes I wonder about books that are so old ...

message 8224: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Heath's books are steamy enough. It's not erotic but not exactly fade to black either.

This book could probably be a lifetime or hallmark movie too! LOL

Her old covers are horrible and she's one where I will say that you definitely shouldn't judge a book by it's cover!

LOL!! I remember that movie on lifetime. My brother in laws used to always make fun of me for my lifetime movie watching. It was so funny!

message 8226: by SANDRA (new)

SANDRA (smilleysandy) | 88 comments ok so I finally got a notification for this group and have a second to spare before heading to work...

Well I just read Wolf with Benefits (Pride, #8) by Shelly Laurenston and working on a few books on and off, can't really get into them, so looking for something to grab my attention...
Marcella wrote: "Leea...you have to read the Halle Puma series too. If you are in the mood for shifters, those are your books."

I love the Halle Puma series, it's one of the best out there... :D

message 8227: by Leea (new)

Leea I hope it's steamy... I need that today. Cleaning house and picking up. I'm so tired of my kids not letting me throw anything away. So i'm waiting for Gar to go to preschool them i'm tossing a lot of it. haha!

It's so windy here. Hope you're doing okay in the bay, Kay! We have out first River Cats game of the season tonight and I hope the wind is not this bad or we may just have to stay in one of the clubs and not sit in our seats. It's crazy!

message 8228: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments If anyone is interested...I tweeted Lorraine Heath the other week to ask if she will ever return to westerns again. She tweeted back and said:

"I love writing the lords but those cowboys are nudging for attention so we shall see."

I really hope she does write again for this genre.

message 8229: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) That's weird. It has been really windy here too.

message 8230: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments It's sunny and a little windy today but in the mid-high 60s. Have fun at the game, Leea!

Regina...is it weird? Isn't it usually windy there?

It is extremely steamy. I felt like I needed a cold shower. Ha ha!

message 8233: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) No. But it has been crazy windy - traffic lights being knocked over and stuff.

message 8234: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Regina wrote: "No. But it has been crazy windy - traffic lights being knocked over and stuff."

Wow, that's crazy. I just asked b/c people always refer to chicago as the windy city. Also, do people from chicago call it Shy Town? Just wondering b/c tourists always call San Francisco "frisco" or "San Fran." But people who live here don't call it that.

message 8235: by Leea (new)

Leea I think we get it so bad because we're on the Delta and we normally have a nice breeze even in the hot summer months but this is just crazy.

Hey Sandra!

Parting gifts 20% (view spoiler)

message 8236: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Well Chicago is called the Windy City.

Good question. haha! I'm curious too. I always thought chicago would be windy. I normally just call it the City and eveyone knows what i'm talking about.

message 8238: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Haha. Lol Marcella. Windy comes from the politicians it produces, supposedly. Lol. Which is understandable!

message 8239: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Leea...that is what people call it, "The City" or San Francisco.

message 8240: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Leea...about your spoiler...keep reading! LOL

message 8241: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Regina wrote: "Haha. Lol Marcella. Windy comes from the politicians it produces, supposedly. Lol. Which is understandable!"

Wow, I didn't know that! I always thought it's windy as in nature wind.

message 8242: by Leea (new)

Leea I've always lived here. haha! When we lived in San Antonio, we were taking a trip to the South Padre Island and I kept calling it that. My friend told me you have to stop calling it that you just say the Islands or Padre, if not people will know you're not from here. haha! That and they would always not pronounce the names of things correctly like if it was Blanco Road. I would roll pronounce it correctly but texans don't they make the A sound longer it used to drive me nuts. It's a mexican word and you're making it sound silly. Blaaaaanco.

message 8243: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I used to too. It does get windy around the tall buildings, or in the suburbs or corn fields where there are no trees. I guess Chicago/Illinois has always been known for shady politicians. But there is debate on the origin of the name. http://blogs.chicagotribune.com/news_... But here are 3 other theories: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origin_o... Apparantly Chicago is actually not windier than other US cities. LOL.

Regina (reginar) Leea wrote: "I've always lived here. haha! When we lived in San Antonio, we were taking a trip to the South Padre Island and I kept calling it that. My friend told me you have to stop calling it that you just ..."

That is funny. I am always shocked when I talk to people outside of Illinois or a visit other places and they say Illinois with an "s" at the end, like Illinoisssssssssss. Haha, we say Illinoi (no S sound).

message 8245: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) LOL, that's how I say it too. Illinoi. I'm sure it's a midwest thing.

message 8246: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Regina wrote: "Haha. Lol Marcella. Windy comes from the politicians it produces, supposedly. Lol. Which is understandable!"

I hear it got really windy there that is why it is called the Windy City. Learn something new everyday. Ha ha!

Vegas event in August? I live in Vegas!!! What's the event? Is it open to the public or only to those who have the "in" with publishers? Inquiring minds want to know!

message 8248: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Lucky duck!

message 8249: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) WorldCon is in San Antonio this summer -- (it was in Chicago last summer), in case we have members who live there. They announce the Hugo awards there.

message 8250: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Regina - well, not sure living in Vegas makes me a lucky duck or not. There's such a dichotomy between the Strip and real life here - LOL! And I used to work for Wynn and Mirage Resorts before it became MGM, and Wynn split off. I barely go down to the Strip these days - just to see a show or to take guests. There are some neat things down there and reasons to go, but I find myself not going more often than not.

My mom is from Illinois (Pekin, near Peoria), so I'm very familiar with the weird pronunciations. Really irritating! It's kind of like Nehvahdah (long, soft a) versus Nevaadah (short a - locals way of pronouncing it). Even on CSI (the Vegas one), they constantly pronounce it the WRONG way, which really irks folks here, including me. It's been long enough now, folks, PRONOUNCE IT RIGHT!

Touch & Geaux (Cut & Run #7) by Abigail Roux - wow! Didn't even know it existed. And it just came out this weekend? Whoa! I went on a Ty&Zane kick and finished off (or thought I did) their series this weekend. LOVED Armed & Dangerous (Cut & Run, #5) by Abigail Roux and Stars & Stripes (Cut & Run, #6) by Abigail Roux . Those were, IMO, the best 2 of the series. The investigation/mystery part still leaves a lot to be desired, but those last 2 books were just plain fun. Ty and Cross' cats, Smith & Wesson, and then Barnam, the Bengal tiger! Off to buy that one.

I'm obsessed with series... I have to read my way through them if they exist. It's my reading OCD, I guess!
