Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments I'm reading Mystery Man (Dream Man, #1) by Kristen Ashley .

message 8152: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I love all three of the ID covers. CP is so gorgeous, but they all look aMAZING next to each other.

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I agree Wendy but this one is just stunning.

Me too. I read the first three MI books but haven't gotten to these. Although my daughter is scoffing at me because of it.

message 8155: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments It is a very popular YA series so I can see why she would scoff at you. It is all the rage with the teens. Ha ha!

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments My Nook tablet broke yesterday but luckily I got insurance so I upgraded it to the Nook HD. I love it already! http://instagram.com/p/XqA8Z8M_Rr/

I started Love Irresistibly (FBI / US Attorney, #4) by Julie James yesterday and I'm liking it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) You have the same one I do! I love it. I use it for most of my non-galley reading. My galleys I read on the paperwhite because I can send them directly there.

I haven't had much chance to read lately. I skim-read Walking Disaster and it was pretty weak. It was a completely pointless sequel.

message 8158: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I'm am liking it. Some of the settings are a bit different from the nook tablet but I'm getting use to it.

I heard Walking Disaster and Flat-Out Matt is basically a repeat of the other book but in the guys' POV. These should have been a free books as opposed to charging fans for the same story.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Yep. Pretty much. I just had the same discussion in another group. Any time there's an alternate PoV without much new content, I think the author should write it for free as a reward to the fans, and not try to make money off the thing. I complain a lot about Abbi Glines' books being repetitive (same as KA) but I am impressed that she will write extras and althernate PoV's and put them on her website for the fans.

I wasn't very impressed with Flat-Out Matt either. It wasn't awful like WD was, but I felt like I could have done without most of it. I did like getting Julie's epilogue though.

Have you found the < and > keys? I want to post status updates from my Nook but can't make spoiler tags without those. The old Nook had those keys under the numbers setting when you clicked on the alt key.

message 8161: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Hold down on the ( and ) keys and then a little box will appear for you to select < >. I never liked the keyboard that comes with the Nook. I like auto-fill/correct and it doesn't have it :(

I'm reading it now, and I feel like BD had more feeling, it's missing a little something, but I don't dislike it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I loathed it but most people seem to be enjoying the book, so maybe it's just me.

Thanks Kay! I'll have to try that out. I only want to use it for posting the occasional status update when I'm in the middle of reading and don't want to switch devices.

What about hold/drag for highlighting? I haven't figured that out yet either, so I just highlight/note on the first word of the sentence. That setup seems to be different from my Kindle, although accessing notes is much quicker on the Nook.

I did finally figure out how to get back to the book I was on by making the index at the bottom right corner my currently reading button. It took me a minute to figure out how to set that.

message 8164: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments How did you make that bottom index into your currently reading? When I hit it now, it just shows the last few books/apps I used.

For highlight, when you touch and hold down on the word you want to start with, there will be 2 lines that appear on each end of the word. Touch your finger on the line at the end of the word and then start dragging until you are done with the highlight.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) On the top bar, where the time and internet connection shows, tap that. Then tap Home settings, then uncheck show my recent drawer.

After you've done that, the open book icon on the bottom right hand of the screen will turn into your currently reading button.

message 8166: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Oh congrats Kay! I bet it was stressful when it broke but so nice you got a new one. I love the picture with it next to the coffee.

I am enjoying Wicked Cravings (The Phoenix Pack, #2) by Suzanne Wright <---- no orgies so far!

message 8167: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Anyone on Kindle Fire? If so, WHAT'S WITH the reading speed thing in the lower left corner? I sent a nasty-gram to Amazon, and then I saw that if I press on it, it changes to the Loc and/or the Page number I'm on. Much better.

I don't care how long 'til the end of the chapter or book! Those sorts of stats just make me crazy! I'm either too competitive and I want to BEAT the reading speed they have me at. Or I get too hung up on making sure I make that time.

I know... sad, isn't it?

message 8168: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) LOL Lori! It is a newish feature on the Fire. I tend to ignore it, supposedly the timing is set based on your pace thus far in the book.

message 8169: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Thanks, Stacia! I just switched it to my currently reading. It's so much easier now.

Regina...thanks. The coffee is from the coffee bar at Nordstrom which I feel is so much better than Starbucks.

Thats's funny, Lori. I'd probably be feeling the same way about having a reading speed set. LOL

message 8170: by Regina (new)

Thanks, Leea!

When are you going? With or without the kids? I haven't been there yet but I work only a few exits away. I heard it's really nice but just haven't really had the funds to go full on shopping.

message 8174: by Leea (new)

Leea We were (My SIL and Me) going to go this Sunday but Jim has to work so looks like next Sunday is the day :) I went last Friday with Jimmy and the kids but I cannot wait to go without them haha! It's really nice and I've got a small budget but my SIL is a big spender so i'm sure i'll be holding her bags. The boys love all that Fox stuff and they have so good prices at the outlets so i'm going to get them some clothes.

Angie - to each her own, right? I was ticked because I expected there to be a setting to turn it off. But once I discovered I could change what it said from Reading speed to the Page or Location, I was OK.

Have fun with it!

I refuse to even touch WD, but I'm such a sucker for nerdy boys/men, that I couldn't resist Flat Matt!! I agree that I could have done without a lot of the Flat Matt, but I liked the Finn prequel and I loved the epilogue, so I completely agree. Also with the idea of something so short being given as a gift to the fans.

Oh nice! Especially b/c you won't have the kids around. Let me know next time when you go and maybe I can meet up with you there for coffee or grub...I would love to finally meet you!

This sunday I'm going to Napa to see NKOTB! My friend won tickets on the radio. I'm so excited!

message 8179: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Melissa wrote: "So they did let you get another! YAY!!"

Yeah...they did! I think the guy who helped me didn't know what he was doing b/c he gave me full credit for how much I paid for it which was $225. The Nook HD is only $199. So, I basically didn't pay anything for it. I did buy the warranty, a new case and a screen protector. I walked out the door only spending $75.

I won't be reading anything by either author from here on out (long story) but I read both for curiosity/closure sake. I'm with you on the epilogue for FoM. It was probably my favorite part (view spoiler) that was aweseome.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'm still on my shorter book/stories kick because I can't seem to focus much on reading, so I grabbed this one because I'd heard it was pretty short and it has a student/professor relationship, which is usually something I like to read about.

Damaged by H.M. Ward
It was okay. Not bad, not great.

message 8184: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) So fun Kay!!! Who is going with you?

Paloma, I loved it -- you all will love it. The sex scenes are great and it is a nice believable build. And it was nice to *see* Taryn and Trey. :) I am looking forward to the third.

Stacia, since you are on a short story kick - -why not give Thank You for Riding (Strangers on a Train) by Meg Maguire a try? It is more contemp romance, in a way it is a lot like Hearts in Darkness by Laura Kaye as there is not a ton of sex, but when there is it is explicit.

That cover is nice though (re Damaged)

I'm going with my friend who won the tix on the radio. The event is actually thru contest only and tix can't be bought. http://liveinthevineyard.com/ There's only going to be about 300 people there...so super small and I'm super excited!

message 8189: by Leea (new)

Leea Kay, you're going to have a blast!!

I'm about half way through Hot Pursuit (Troubleshooters, #15) by Suzanne Brockmann and it's not blowing me over but i'm loving the Sam moments and Gillman is starting to now grow on me but the way he sees Jenn sometimes bothers me... (view spoiler)

Leea, it is funny, b/c Hot Pursuit was the first one I read. I had read the first two and then Hot Target years ago, like in 2004. Then I didn't read any for years and then I went looking for the series in 2010 and this was the first one I read since 6 years before. So I loved Hot Pursuit, it did blow me away. But maybe b/c it was the first for me after so many years away. I can see why it wouldn't be for you. The peeks at Izzy were good and then I liked getting to know Dan. He won't redeem himself in this book. Oh no! He gets worse.

Sorry Paloma I can't -- but I know you will love it when you get it! Which author?

Regina (reginar) It does sound interesting! I love Laura Kaye, or did in her novella Hearts in Darkness by Laura Kaye (which is a very unique set up too)

message 8195: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Finished The Shadow's Heir (The Risen Sun, #1) by K.J. Taylor , pretty disappointing. I was looking forward to reading a fantasy genre book again but this one...was bad.

Moving on to the next book, maybe Kiss of Steel (London Steampunk, #1) by Bec McMaster .

Regina (reginar) Looks like Easy "lost". How surrpising!

I am really not enjoying North of Need (Hearts of the Anemoi, #1) by Laura Kaye which feels traitorous to say.

I am trying to decide what to read next.

Leea Happy Sunday! A few members would like to buddy read a Viking Romance book... As some of you know we have in the past done monthly group reads and it's something we're contemplating doing again. So i've put together a small poll to choose our Viking romance book. If you're interested in joining us, please go vote.

Here is the link and it's also on our homepage way at the bottom:

Leea I'm sorry Regina. We could read something together...

I know that I finally finished Hot Pursuit (Troubleshooters, #15) by Suzanne Brockmann and I skimmed parts and just didn't like it. Honestly for me it was the worst book in the series. I did somehow fall for Gillman and man at times I was more shocked than you. haha! He was such an ass but them so sweet. I can't wait to read his and Izzy's book... Oh I cannot wait. No clue what i'm reading next. I need something good and lights, any suggestions?
