I found Bathsheba Everdene as depicted in the film as more oblivious than self-serving. It was clear from the beginning with whom she should be, and after a lot of tragedy, Bathsheba ended up with the correct hero. Some of the tragedy was coincidental, and not her fault, but she wouldn't have been involved at all if she would have been more self-aware.
