Heather Ok, I am about 40% through this book and it is making me absolutely crazy to not know what is going on with Butch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sharon Oh just wait! This is one of my favorite books of the series. You're gonna be on the edge of your seat and biting your fingernails AND toenails..lol! This whole series is really great. Can't wait for the new one later this month.

M. I really like this series too. But I decided to wait until Ward fixes the Qhay situation. I can' stand to see those guys suffer any longer.

Heather I don't know who Qhay is yet. So far, Zsadist's book has been my favorite. But, this book is giving me anxiety attacks, lol

Beatrice Don't worry, you're going to like it. I didn't love this book the way I loved Zsadist's, but I definitely enjoyed it - and yes, it does give anxiety attacks (LOL)

Heather I may pull all of my hair out by the end of this book.

message 7: by M. (new) - rated it 5 stars

M. Zsadist book was also my favorite. Qhay is short for Qhuinn and Blay and they will get introduced later in the series. I think they are my favorite characters right now.

Beatrice Michelle wrote: "Zsadist book was also my favorite. Qhay is short for Qhuinn and Blay and they will get introduced later in the series. I think they are my favorite characters right now."

I really like them both too, but my favorite is absolutely Zsadist... I just can't stop loving him!

I know what you mean. His story is so heart breaking and I also think Bella is just perfect for him. I have to say that I don't like all the females in BDB. Mary was a bore, Doc Jane was just too weird, and don't even get me started on Layla.

Beatrice I didn't dislike Mary all that much, but I agree on Jane (who I think could have been characterized a lot better) and Layla (ugh...). Bella's probably my favorite... but ask me later, and my answer might change (LOL).

Sharon I know I'm in the minority on this one but my favorite character/book is Rhage. I just loved his and Mary's story! I read something on the author's website once that made me think she wasn't especially fond of Rhage but I don't know..there's just something about that book that stuck with me.

I liked Rhage but I just didn't like Mary that much. She was boring to me. I guess I'm not really fond of quiet strength in female characters. To be honest, there isn't one single brother that I disliked.

Beatrice Yup! Rhage's probably my second favorite brother. His humor is just something else LOL

Jessi Overton My favorite books out of these whole series are all of them except Lover Enshrined & Lover Unleashed I really couldn't connect to Phury/Cormia & Payne/Manny.... But my top 3 are Lover Awakened (Zsadist/Bella), Lover Avenged(Rehvenge/Elhena), and Lover Mine(John Matthew/Xhex)...I love those particular brothers!!! :-D

I'm so glad to know I'm not by myself! I couldn't connect with Phury/Cormia either...I did like Payne/Manny though.

Kaarinedm lol.. the title of this blog is hilarious... we've all been there. the wait for the next book is making me slightly crazy.

Yeah but it felt more like Vishous' story part 2 instead of a Manny/Payne book...And what did you think about the reveal about Manny? What about Butch's scene with Vishous?

LOL...Maybe if Phury/Cormia were like a novella? I can't wait for Tohrment's book on 3/27

Heather I may have to stop reading this. I am getting more information than I think I should know. I am now about 75% through with Butch's book, so i should be done tonight.

Heather Kaarinedm wrote: "lol.. the title of this blog is hilarious... we've all been there. the wait for the next book is making me slightly crazy."

13 days and counting...Although I'll get the ebook first (so I can read it on the go) and then get the paperback when it comes out later in the year since the other ones I have are all paperback...

Totally agree with you on the novella thing! Butch and Vishous both build me up, tear me down, crack me up and leave me panting for more! It doesn't really matter what they're doing..if they're on the page then I'm devouring that book like there's no tomorrow. I do see what you mean about the Manny/Payne book but for some reason Manny has been a favorite of mine since he first was introduced.

message 23: by M. (new) - rated it 5 stars

M. I also couldnt connect with Phury and Cormia's story and I was looking forward Phury's book. I just think his book wasn't well written, I dunno. I am no sure if I like Xhex that much either. I think she was just a tad too tough for my taste.

Yeah but I loved that she could absolutely girlish for John Matthew especially at their mating (I mean I don't know who else could have gotten her to want to wear a dress)...I like that she's tough to me it means that if John Matthew were in trouble, she would be the first one to line up to get him out instead of waiting at home like a proper Shellan besides John Matthew needs someone tough after craptastic life after his after-life life (<--that's a mouthful LOL)

It would be nice but somehow I don't think she will be doing a full book on them (I don't think the rest of the world is ready for that yet) plus she has to figure out where the one chick with Qhuinn (I forget her name) will fit in & the vision Qhuinn had of their kid...But it would be nice to know exactly where she's taking them & how she's gonna end the series w/o giving us another "Lover Enshrined" along the way...

I like that Manny could hold his own with them just like a certain other character (hmmm coincidence maybe?) but I wasn't a big fan of Payne (in Lover Mine & Lover Avenged yeah) but it seemed in her book she was like another Marissa(who I didn't like during the middle of Butch's book..ugh her attitude) and I thought she was suppose to be way wayyyy tougher than that not whiny & weak-willed (maybe it's just me)...Although I do want to know about Butch's real dad & how exactly he's related to Wrath (I get the cousin thing but I wanna more details)

Heather Yay! I finished the book! It was soooooooooo good! On to the next one!

message 29: by Jessi (new) - added it

Jessi Overton Yayyy for you!!!! When I started the series I bought them all at once so I could read them back to back...Is that what you did?

Heather Yes, I have the whole series except for the novella

Sharon Glad you finished! It's so nice to know there are others out there who are as addicted to these books as I am. I have about 50 pages left of Envy...I don't like that series as much as I do the BDB one but it's getting better. There is one part of this book that is really pissing me off though. If I don't like the way it is resolved I'll have to start a discussion about it.

Heather I will have to read that series when I am done with this one. Does anyone have any other suggestions for books similar to BDB? I love the sex scenes. The are romantic and erotic, without being crude.

Try the dark hunters series by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Does it have to be Urban Fantasy? Cause I know a series whose sex scenes are pretty erotic...

Yeah I see where you're coming from. I wish the world was ready. I sure am! In the book series I'm writing their might be a couple gay couples and I'm going to try to put a lot into that even though the story's not about them.

Then you should read Lora Leigh's Tempting Seals: Dangerous Games (Tempting SEALs, #2) by Lora Leigh Hidden Agendas (Tempting SEALs, #4) by Lora Leigh Killer Secrets (Tempting SEALs, #5) by Lora Leigh Reno's Chance A Navy Seals Story (Tempting SEALs, #1) by Lora Leigh Rescue Me (Includes T-FLAC, #12; Tempting SEALs, #6) by Cherry Adair Real Men Do It Better (Includes Tempting SEALs, #3) by Carrie Alexander Honk If You Love Real Men Four Tales of Erotic Romance (Includes Tempting SEALs, #1) by Carrie Alexander & her Elite Ops: Wild Card (Elite Ops, #1) by Lora Leigh Maverick (Elite Ops, #2) by Lora Leigh Heat Seeker (Elite Ops, #3) by Lora Leigh Black Jack (Elite Ops, #4) by Lora Leigh Renegade (Elite Ops, #5) by Lora Leigh Live Wire (Elite Ops, #6) by Lora Leigh Men of Danger (Includes Elite Ops, #4.5) by Lora Leigh books...Those boys are muy caliente!!!

@Heather & Kimi: Unfortunately some people don't have open minds about books featuring or starring gay couples. But maybe J.R. Ward might say screw it and go for it?

Heather @ Jessi, that would be nice. People are who people are. A gay couple is just as romantic and erotic to read about as any man/woman couple. IMHO. I will definitely check out Lora Leigh's series.

Sharon I agree about the gay couples. I'm just not sure that Quinn and Blay rate a whole book. Don't freak out....the only reason I say that is because there has been sooo much of their story in other books. Honestly though I wouldn't be too upset if there was a book about Blay finding someone new. Someone to fall head over heels in love with him and not have to be dragged into it kicking and screaming. Just saying....

Kimi I get where you're coming from. LOL.. gosh I want them both to be happy. =)

Jessi Overton Maybe we'll get more about them in this next book....3/27 is taking to long to get here!!! My heart broke right along with Tohrment when Wellsie & there unborn child died :'-( So I'm hoping for a fresh start for him or at least a new happiness!!!

Jeanie Someone asked for a recommendation for a book/series like the BDB? Sorry, there is absolutely nothing like the BDB ;P

I introduced a friend to the BDB recently and it has been great reliving them through her novice eyes. She sometimes has problems remembering names and even refers to the series as The Black and Decker Brothers XD Personally, I can hardly wait for the new book but also want it not to be a repeat of Lover Enshrined or Lover Unleashed--Phury deserved a much better story... and I wanted so much more from our Unleashed lovers. *sigh*

message 47: by Jessi (new) - added it

Jessi Overton Lover Enshrined was half-assed and Lover Unleashed was basically a Lover Unbound part two...SOOOO Tohrment's book has to renew my love for the series like Lover Avenged did or I'm going to lose some of my ethusiam...

Some might say that the Midnight Breed is similar. I think if you put BDB in a bowl and add a lot of sugar plus a lot of cliches and eye-rolling moments you get Midnight Breed.

Personally I really liked Phury's story. He was a very much unsung hero/savior. And not til the end did he finally have redeemption. Unlike the others that had been running from being who they really are/stripped of who they were meant to be(Wrath as King, Vishous as the intended Primale, Zsadist as the first born son of a noble family that was to inherit and take over their family home, JM/Darius being killed before getting to know and look after the daughter he just discovered). Did he have a weakness with drugs? Yes, but he worked through that. Was his shellan less than stellar? I would say sort of but in her own way she had her own quiet inner strength from the world she was born into. Couldn't really ask for more than that. I mean respectively speaking we saw what our world could produce by way of strong female characters in Beth the reporter and Jane the surgeon. But in such a highly traditional world as theirs the females have a different kind of strength. Kind of like how women back in the old victorian days and what not had quiet strength when they were born in certain roles and status. And overall I really liked how in Phury's story that throughout it all, he has always been one to be there for his family and protect, save, and love them more than they do themselves. Even though I particularly found Zsadist annoying as hell for being so damn ungrateful for being saved. As Phury truly didn't HAVE to do that at all. He didn't have to keep tracking him down and being seen as the useless spare twin that his parents thought he was. He could have left the old country altogether and never looked back, became his own vampire and made a new name for himself and cut his losses. But he never did that. He saw things through from start to finish with Zsadist from his rescue to him finding love with Bella. Even though so much of his own life was left on pause for his brother. Even more so when he took over for Vishous as the Primale. And when Cormia came along, she might not have been who he originally wanted. But in a sense by coming from the world of that she did, she brought a new purpose and way of being a worthwhile and respected savior/leader to Phury that being a brother, having a brother, and his own choices never had before. Looking after the choosen had given him a fresh start and made him reborn to me in a way I don't think the other brothers will ever have. Now THAT is why I liked Lover Enshrined.

Some bits of Lover Unleashed was ok. But I really wish Ward would get over so many sub plots that choke out the main couple's story line. I get she wants to cover all bases. But from here on out I would love nothing more than to see the main couple and a sub plot on the Qhuay front. No more side stories about ghost hunting, or Mhurder sleeping with human women for kicks and giggles. No more over hashing about other brothers if it is not something major. And for once I want Wrath to freaking step up properly as the king!
