Well, it can be there for a bit longer. :) You should ask yourself why that book has been on your shelf for ages. I mean you read so many books, why haven't you read this one yet?
There are hundreds of romance novels where the characters are actually kissing on the cover. So I am sure you will find one where the man is not dropping the woman.

124 - Read a book that's Title contains the word "star"

And why did you skip a few?

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod
I thought that might be the problem!
I had to skip a few because there are such big gaps now, so I thought I would change it up a little.

Finished 198 - Title containing the word ghost by reading The Ghost and the Goth which I am so happy I got a reason to read!

Anyone pick me a new number please?

message 1014: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith #536

Hey Lu, to make things easier, can you shorten the list of numbers not to pick like this: 1-118, 124, 125, etc.? It's just easier to spot where the next available number is.

message 1015: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Good plan! Doing it :)

536 - Read a book that has a plane on the cover

message 1016: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Sorry, that one's a bit iffy :(

message 1017: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Heheh yea but it's ok I'll see if I have anything otherwise I'll opt out :)

message 1018: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Ok I can't find anything. Anyone have any suggestions?

message 1019: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
Depends on what you're willing to read.
Did you check the Listopia feature on Goodreads? They have several lists with planes.
Did you check booksites and searched for titles with the word plane or planes in the title? Most often with these kind of words when they are in the title they are on the cover. You can also try words like pilot, airport etc.
Did you check travel books?
Did you check books about famous pilots? If you're willing to read a biography, something about Amelia Earheart might be interesting. THere are several books about her where on the cover she is standing in front of a plane or sitting in the cockpit.

Sorry no direct recommendation, but perhaps these search tips might help you find one. :)

message 1020: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Thanks Barbara! I checked but there is nothing I would really go for :(

I'll wait a few hours and see if anyone else comes up with something and then use my opt out.

message 1021: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I looked at the books my shelf (my real shelf) and I found these:
Dead Air by Iain Banks Fear of Flying by Erica Jong

I know neither is really to your taste though.

message 1022: by Claudia (new)

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1779 comments I'm like a broken record recommending this book to everyone, but it does have a plane on the cover:
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein

Read it, read it. :)

message 1023: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Lol, well, I think it's the best suggestion for Lu so far :)

Reach for the Sky has various covers, often with planes on. It is a biography but I absolutely loved it when I was in school and have reread it a couple of times

146 - Read one of the group reads (BoM) chosen from now (currently one of them) or onwards. Not previous ones.

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod
huh??

message 1031: by Lauren (Sugar & Snark) (last edited Sep 08, 2012 01:32PM) (new)

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod
I'm not really sure I understand, does that mean I have to read the book the month? Because I have already read it. Does that mean I have to wait until next month?

message 1032: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Have you read both BoMs? Because both would count for the challenge. But my understanding is that yes, you have to read a book of the month, and the one you already read doesn't count, unless you re-read it.

message 1033: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith And you can't read old BoMs, so if you don't take one of the current ones, you have to wait until the next two are chosen.

message 1034: by Lu (new)

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod

Meanwhile I have lots of books to review anyway!

*whispers* I know, but I haven't yet got my WWII book. I am hoping to find something in the second hand store I am going to tomorrow and then catch up!

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod
I wondered where you had been, I was about to get complacent :)
But life is always throwing curve balls!

message 1040: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
I was biting my nails in frustration.
I totally blew my book buying budget last month so I have to wait untill Tuesday before I can order anything online (credit card issues :( ) and untill tomorrow untill I can buy something in stores. I have no WWII books on my shelves that I haven't read yet or that I want to re-read and I don't want to use my opt out yet.
So I have high hopes for tomorrow and maybe catch up with you a bit!

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
Ok, so I went to the second hand book store today to see if they had a book about WW2 and I got lucky :D
I found a very bad but very cheap copy of De Aanslag by Harry Mulish, a book that being Dutch and born and raised in Haarlem I sghould have read before now. So I bought it, brought it home with me and read it. So I finished my task 233.
My mother picked number 121 as my next task. So could you please tell me what it is, Lu? And know, Lu, that my mum is planning on coming for a visit tomorrow, but if it is a terrible task I won't let her in. :)

message 1046: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Yay goodreads let me in!

Lol let her in anyway :P

121 - Read a book that has someone you find attractive on the cover

message 1047: by Barbara (last edited Sep 10, 2012 10:58PM) (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
Oh that might be easy. I still have some romance novels around and I like my man muscled up and strong!

So yeah I'll let her in, she has her own key anyway, seeing as she owns the place. :)

I was just trying some emotional blackmail to get a good task and it worked!

message 1048: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jevine) | 945 comments Finished #61 (Read any book - what a wonderful task, very easy to do :)). Read : The Widow of Larkspur Inn

119 - Read a book that has an umbrella on the cover
