Chris, haven't you read The Killer Angels?

Chris Haught (haughtc) Becky wrote: "Chris, haven't you read The Killer Angels?"

No, I've had it on my TBR forever though. I read one of his son's books, and I've nominated this one a few times here. But it never won.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 3034 comments Mod
Ohhh, I see. OK. I knew that I added that to my TBR because you mentioned it, just couldn't remember if you read it or not. LOL

message 54: by Chris (last edited Mar 02, 2012 05:49AM) (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) I have the whole trilogy in a trade paperback boxed set. It's really pretty sitting on my shelf.

And I saw a new audio of Killer Angels at the library the other day.

LemonLinda (lwilliamson0423) | 626 comments Changed the bonus reads to

Becky's TBRs - The Mummy Case by Elizabeth Peters
Jackie's TBRs - Paths of Glory by Jeffrey Archer

and so I tweaked the others a bit to put in the ones I had used for bonus. It should be OK now.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3122 comments I think I will wait to post my list because I am not sure which ones I will or will not get to right now. I try to incorperate books from my other challenges into this challenge when they fit the tasks. This one is pretty easy to do.

message 59: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) | 2033 comments Wow, you guys are listing books from my TBR that I forgot I even had. LOL

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3122 comments Can we steal books we have off each other's lists :)

message 61: by Becky, Moddess (new)

I don't see why not.

What's really great is I had both of your books on my currently owned and better read before I buy more mental list!

Laura (apenandzen) | 48 comments Great looking challenge, HF Queens!

message 66: by [deleted user] (new)

I am so doing this!!! My other question is this, I understand we have until March 31 11:59 to have our list done. Is there any way I can do it now and keep changing it (incase I read one of those on the list during March) until that specific date?

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3122 comments You can change your unread books on April 15th. That's the only time we can change them.

message 68: by Becky, Moddess (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 3034 comments Mod
Ashley (and all)... You can change your list as much as you want until March 31st at 11:59pm EST. After that it's locked in, and you can only change your list of 20 on April 15th.

You can change the 2 HF bonus books at any time.

message 71: by Evan (new)

Evan (medieval_geek) This sounds good, might help me get back into the habit of reading again and I do need to get a few books off my TBR list.

Like others have said, I'll probably have to do quite a bit of editing before it starts because I do tend to flit around between subjects quite a lot.

One question - if I've part-read a book before, but then left it and returned it to TBR, is that okay to include?

Going to make a start on my list now :)

message 72: by Evan (new)

Evan (medieval_geek) Just to make it clear re: my question above - of course if I did include a book that applied to, I would be reading from the start

Margaret, if you have the information, I (or another librarian) can add the book to Goodreads. However, we'd still need to verify the page/word count somehow, and as far as I know, Kindle books don't generally have page counts. Is that information available anywhere?

message 78: by Chris (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) Do you want us to repost our list if/when we make changes to it? Or edit the original post?

message 79: by Becky, Moddess (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 3034 comments Mod
You can just edit. I reposted mine because well... I'm weird.

message 80: by Chris (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) OK, cool. That's what I was going to do, but then I wondered. Heh...

message 81: by jb (new)

jb Byrkit (jbbyrkit) I have my list written down and am working on tweaking it....so many books to chose from. Plus I am trying to keep a majority as HF.

LemonLinda (lwilliamson0423) | 626 comments Edited my challenge books once again as I went to a book event this weekend, met Anna Jean Mayhew, bought her book and had to bump it up on my TBR schedule. She was so excited about her book and thus I got really excited about it as well. The book is The Dry Grass of August.

i just read this book for one of my face-2-face book clubs. i loved it and most of the clubbers enjoyed it too. it reminded me of a cross between "Secret Life of Bees" and the "Help". i really miss some of the characters now that i have finished the book. Did the author talk about the sequel she is writing? if so, how far along is she? any release date? i cannot wait for more of the Jubee! Enjoy!

(would you consider it historic fiction? if so i can use it as my yellow cover for the current challenge)

LemonLinda (lwilliamson0423) | 626 comments Should be. The synopsis says it is set in 1954 which definitely. Makes the 50 year benchmark for HF.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3122 comments It's 50 years now? I thought it was still 30 years.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 3034 comments Mod
LOL... It's been 50 for quite a while now!

message 90: by Lois (new)

Lois (loisbennett) Sounds like a good challenge! Just wondering, though - is it okay to include books that I'm reading for other challenges (not all of which are on Goodreads)?

message 91: by Becky, Moddess (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 3034 comments Mod
That's fine, Lois. As long as the book is added to your Goodreads To-Read list and the books are read in April.

Debbie Hoffman | -2 comments LemonLinda wrote: "Should be. The synopsis says it is set in 1954 which definitely. Makes the 50 year benchmark for HF."

thanks for the input - it didn't have any real historic person or historic event in it so i am not sure if it is hf

Have a wonderful April!

Cynthia, you can still participate! Read as much or as little as you like - there's no minimum requirement. :)

Cynthia Haggard (cynthiasallyhaggard) | 9 comments In that case, I'll give it a whirl. Now I need to read the rules again:)

Holly, A Movable Feast by Ernest Hemingway is only 181 pages according to Amazon (pgs not listed on GoodReads). I wanted to read for current challenge as it was written in my birth year. If you find out differently, please let me know.
