N. Onym | 3 comments The Harlot Goddess by N. Onym

"Long live Lilith, the Harlot Goddess. She gave forth unto the world of night another brood of nightmares. Lilith inflicted upon the world her daughters like white spiders. She mothered them into being, not from her womb, but with the crafts of her black magiks. She made them like idols of vodoun, with her hands and obeah. She sculpted them in her likeness, as eidolons, like mirrors of Lilith and her malice."

Black magik. Sex. Violence.

C.J. Brightley (cjbrightley) | 6 comments The King's Sword by C. J. Brightley A Cold Wind by C. J. Brightley

The King's Sword is the first in my Erdemen Honor series, and A Cold Wind is the second. Erdemen Honor is kind of a character-focused epic/high fantasy series. I will be publishing Honor's Heir, the third, in about a month, as well as Things Unseen, the first book in a new series called A Long-Forgotten Song. A Long-Forgotten Song is hard to define... kind of a Christian dark urban fantasy.

The blurb for The King's Sword is:
A disillusioned soldier.
A spoiled, untried prince.
A coup that threatens the country they both love.

When retired soldier Kemen finds the young prince Hakan fleeing an attempted assassination, he reluctantly takes the role of mentor and guardian. Keeping the prince alive is challenging enough. Making him a man is harder.

As usurper Vidar tightens his grip on power, Kemen wrestles with questions of duty and honor. What if the prince isn’t the best ruler after all?

Invasion looms, and Kemen’s decisions will shape the fate of a nation. What will he sacrifice for friendship and honor?

message 562: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Arcadio (kirstenarcadio) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Kirsten and this is my book:
Borderliners

It's the first in an experimental project, the Borderliners Trilogy. It's a series of speculative thrillers, each with a different focus. Beginning in a neglected English village with Borderliners, a dark supernatural thriller, the series moves onto adventure thriller, Split Symmetry, a tale of divided loyalties and fractured reality told against the backdrop of a catastrophic earthquake atop the highest peak in central Italy. It's rounded off by WorldCult, the finale, and a tale across two timelines which follows the protagonist, Elena Lewis, through the streets of historical and present day Rome into the deepest peril and the highest stakes.

Each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone or as part of the trilogy. Thematically linked, the novels each fall into a different category within the speculative fiction genre.

So far, only Borderliners has been published, and to mixed reviews. Some people get it (as envisaged) and others don't. That's ok! And all part of the fun.

All the books contain split points of view, switchback narratives and alternate timelines. Are they too obscure? For some, yes, for others, no.

Thank you for letting me join this group! One of the best things I'm finding about self-publishing is the like-minded friends I've made along the way through author circles, beta reading groups and the wider reading and writing community.

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 189 comments Hello. I am pleased to announce my new release - Tales of Erana: Myths and Legends, which features five short fantasy/fantasy romance stories set in the world of Erana. Some of the stories are new and some are revised and expanded from previously published versions but never before have they been all together. It is a great coffee-break read featuring gods and the mortals who love them, dark magic and dastardly mayhem and romance and revenge.

Zack Love (zacklove) The Doorman a Novelette by Zack Love
Alex seems to have it all: a great penthouse apartment, a lovely girlfriend, and a prestigious Wall Street job. But below the surface he is sure of nothing but his angst-ridden doubts. And when he realizes that his doorman may be God, or sent by God, he will question things like never before.

This novelette is a story of New York doormen, tormented love, empty office life, and the theological questions that arise in response to the horrors of evil.

Ellen Benefield | 25 comments The Star Of Jolanest by Ellen Dawn Benefield The Star Of Jolanest Family Friendly Fun. 99 cent Kindle Promo through May 6. New review--5.0 out of 5 stars A very fun, colorful and refreshing read!, April 30, 2014
By Dave
This review is from: The Star Of Jolanest (Tales From Tamara) (Kindle Edition)
Immediately brings back the sensation of being a kid and watching a live action adventure on a Saturday afternoon. The humor was well placed and develops within the reader an affection for the characters. Lighthearted, imaginative and action packed. I'm sincerely looking forward to sending my daughter off to sleep with snippets of this fun tale whirring in her head. My one criticism..... this book will leave you aching for a sequel!

Evelyn (goodreadscomevels) | 10 comments I have written two very different books. The first one is an erotic love story like no other in that the lovers are middle-aged and in long-time marriages but cannot stay apart since they feel they know each other from a former life. Not only do I reveal their very passionate relationship, but tell the story of the spouses who suffer greatly upon learning of the infidelity.

My second book,204 East Broadway, deals with a family who immigrated from Puerto Rico in the 1950s to achieve the American Dream but the four little kids living in the household are sexually violated and no one knows. The children grow up to live very different turbulent lives and it is many decades later that one sister dares to look back to try and understand and that's when they one by one reveal their secret.

Both 4-5* books are available at Amazon.com The Essence

J.M. Christian (arandil) | 6 comments I wrote a fantasy book which is slightly dark, but nothing extreme. A lot of people have enjoyed it, so if you like a fantasy story with monsters, elves, and special powers, feel free to take a peek.

***

He is a shadow, a wraith that stalks the night whom none can flee, whose sword is faster than the panic that flows through his prey. A man’s form he bears, but the abilities he possesses are beyond those of mortals. He is their worst nightmare come alive before them. No blade can stop him, no blow can halt his advance. He is Death incarnate.

Shunned and feared, hated and despised, he walks the world alone, desolate. Despite his awesome strength, he is helpless to do anything but obey the one who holds his very mind in an iron fist.

What hope of redemption could a being such as him have? What could possibly heal a battered and scarred soul whipped by the cruelty of others? How can anything quench the consuming fire of Darkness within? How could anyone love or accept…The Dark Wolf.

Morgan Hach Playing By the Rules by Morgan Hach Playing By the Rules
When Gabriel Clarke makes a deal with the Devil, he believes that his wish has finally been granted. He is given the ability to live forever. This deal, however, comes with three simple rules: don’t tell anyone, don’t get “killed,” and don’t fall in love. As time passes, Gabriel realizes that these rules are harder to follow than he thought, and the consequences are greater than he could have ever imagined.

This is my first ever book. I'm a junior in high school and just starting to write. Please check out my book.
