If you can get hold of a really comprehensive CD set of the soundtracks, then check out the track Losing a Hand from ESB - it's one of my all-time favourites, and it was well and truly disembowelled.

My pelargoniums are still outside - so they're happy!

It's too bad really, I could do with a snow day!

Otisthedog got a bath when we finished our walk, Mrs Happy insisted!

I bet if 4 in a week have gone, you wont be alone in that respect as others will have lost books too! Good luck, time to did yer heels in id say.

If that ever happens to me, I always ask the library to check their shelves. It might not have been checked in and some page put it away in error. If it came from another branch, I always ask my branch to check.
Very seldom has a book fallen under the car seat. I always put my books I've read on the back seat of the car.

That happened to me twice at Uni. I suspect if 4 are missing, that's exactly what happened.

Having been a librarian in a community college for many years, I realized early on the work-study students we got as pages or to work in Circulation were not terribly conscientious.

Jane- Unfortunately the only librarian who will be willing to help me check the shelves and the drop box is on vacation this week. :( Once upon a time, I was a college work study student in a library. I didn't actually deal with the shelving of books. I worked in donations. I had the fantastic job of digging through boxes of books that had been sitting in attics, basements, or garages for years. I love the smell of old books but there is a difference between an old book and an old book covered in mildew. Gross.

ISBN's are the most accurate, though.

Punk

At least they left the car :) always take the positives!

My old library had this high tech drop box. You could only put one book in at a time tho. The box would lock and a red light would show meaning it was being processed. When it turned green, it unlocked and you repeated the process. Sucks for someone like me who takes out 40 books at a time!! It must have cost a pretty penny... which is unfortunate. All that technology and you can one put in one bloody book at a time. I'd much rather go in and have someone check them back into the system. Stupid machine takes away a job someone could have :(
That's terrible Simona!! I don't keep ANYTHING out... too many desperate people nowadays. Sad.

That's what I keep repeating myself. A less kind part of me keeps repeating bad words.

Simona, sorry to hear about destruction of personal property. Someone broke into my car once. I felt so personally violated. They stepped into my life uninvited. Horrible feeling!
The library filing system. Were I writing a thesis today, I would fail. With the Dewey system, I could navigate. I can erase better than I can delete. This etablet chooses my mistakes. Not a good day for me and things electronic in nature.
Had a tiny bit of snow in the South this morning. It snows in November so rarely here that the grocery stores had a run on milk and bread today.

I never heard from him myself, but I hear some people on Goodreads got a friend request from Derek to say he was sorry about faking his death.
I note that as of this morning, only a few hours before I finally got back on GR, Derek deleted his profile on Gr again..
I promise...he is not me...;D
The fact that I went away and he came back and then I came back and he went away, is purely a coincidence. lol!

Interesting that he didn't have the balls to send me a friend's request.

Me neither. he knows he burned a bridge with me. I could have been a friend forever to him, but then he went and took advantage of my caring nature and faked his death.
There's no coming back from that. Its unforgiveable.

*nods* Burned his bridge with me as well.

These are my sentiments EXACTLY, Terri. I really, really liked Derek*--the Derek I thought I knew, that is. As a rule, I don't much care for people who fake a terminal illness and then their deaths. ~.~
*when he wasn't all "woe-is-me" playing the pity card.

They post a guarantee that no one can utilize your ideas, altho I can't think how enforceable that is. I am amazed at the range of people taking the course. Some are really good and some are bordering on illiterate.

Makes me angry.

I guess they have the record of you writing it first so can prove your case if you were to claim someone plagiarised you. Only thing is, you have to discover they have plagiarised you.
Unfortunately the person may never know they have been plagiarised.
Don't post your best stuff, Carol! :D

For us Scots, it feels like business as usual. We keep inheriting your cast-off hurricanes, which thankfully arrive on our shores defanged and declawed. In other words, it's a wee bit wet out there - though they never cease to tell us that it's much warmer than the average for the time of year.
