Terri | 19576 comments There is a very good chance more profiles will be created and he will come into this group trying to stir things up.

But I'm happy to move on from that awful episode. Forget it ever happened.

Margaret (margyw) | 3341 comments Agree. Forget it and move on.

Terri | 19576 comments Got to work on the group read poll books!

Still researching one or two before I can post the polls. :)

And I am watching a very cute Koala in the tree near my house. That's a nice distraction.

message 10506: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 728 comments Thanks Terri I really appreciate the honesty and bravery it took, to put that out in the open. This has been a real bitter pill to swallow. Sadly I agree with all you have said. I can only hope "derek" gets the help he needs. :(

message 10507: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Thanks Lisa.

It is so unfortunate that when people delete their profiles the proof goes with them. But at least some saw it before he/she vanished

message 10508: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments ON a different note. I'm going to need another day to organise the polls.

I got distracted with the rather ghastly modding business I had to do in this thread today and i ran out of time to do Polls.

Polls tomorrow! Only one day lat in my country, and no days late everywhere else. :)

Robin | 98 comments Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. I certainly enjoyed my "1/3/4" pints. It's a shame that I have to come into college today.

Too right! Just to put the icing on the cake, I had two tests on my birthday! I tried to play the sympathy card, "you know cause it's my birthday can we do the test tomorrow?" But sadly it didn't work. *sad face*

but not allowed to.

By the way, I am still here, just reading the comments everyday.

The Force Awakens.

That sounds exciting.

This is what I get for being gone for a while. Damn. Was I fooled. Glad you figured it out Terri. Well done. Sure hope Derek gets help though. Actually feel a bit sorry for someone that is that desperate for attention. Moving on.... Three more weeks of brutal travel and then home for a week.

if anybody's interested there's a thread about this. Can't quite remember which group it's in though. I think It's in the scifi and fantasy group.

message 10530: by Gretchen (new)

Gretchen (eab2012) My daughter is hanging out watching an episode of Phineas and Ferb (a cartoon in the States, not sure if it's shown elsewhere). It's a cartoon about two brothers who have outrageous imaginations. On the episode she's watching the boys are reenacting the battle of Troy with their friends. Of course things like songs and a wooden T-Rex continue to show up during the process. The whole time one of the friends is standing around screaming "Don't you understand how anachronistic this all is?!?" I had to explain to my six year old the meaning of anachronistic. I still don't think she gets it. This struck me as the kind of story people in this group might appreciate and get a little giggle out of.

Is it a kids cartoon? Anachronistic is one heck of a word to stick in a children's show. lol!

Lariela | 187 comments The internet here is way slower than what I'm used to. It makes it hard to watch videos, but all the ads still play. (Most of which are for a certain winter holiday that is too early.)

message 10536: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Hard to believe Christmas/Yule is upon us again. They had all the Christmas stuff in the grocery store in September! *shakes head*

On the up side. It allowed us to have warmed up Christmas fruit Mince Pies and Icecream for pudding over the last few months. :)
Didn't have to wait for December to do that.

Yes it's a children's cartoon but I think it's targeted at older children like 7-8 and up. Even still, anachronistic is quite the word. Elizabeth struggled to even pronounce it.

message 10538: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments I didn't know what anachronistic was until I was a mature adult.
But then I was a slow country gal. :D

Gretchen (eab2012) It was one of those grown up words I discovered in college.

Carlos (steelyhead) | 131 comments Terri wrote: "Carlos, great to see you are still lurking. :)"

I have to make a public apology: I was hooked on HF but I just needed to go back to my former self: a chronic fiction reader, so I went back to: Gone Girl, The Goldfinch, Wool and many, many other books so I don't have much time for HF. So sorry to bring this to your attention, now I am hooked on Station Eleven but I pretty much enjoyed the new Cornwell. Uhtred in my heart forever.

message 10541: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (last edited Nov 09, 2014 06:49PM) (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Ha. Its okay, mate. :) We all go backwards and forwards with reading interests. I've done it myself plenty of times.
I stopped reading HF for well over a year, a few years ago (before A&M). The new Uhtred books were all I read in that time too.

That's why we have the thread 'What Are You Reading Now?'. For members to tell each other and discuss what they are reading irrespective of genre. :)
This thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

If you ever feel like it, feel free to share your non HF reads there.

I have read Wool, Gone Girl, and just finished Station Eleven! Versatility in reading genres is totally accepted amongst this group.

Terri | 19576 comments I just found out! Fantastic. :D

Now we need to work on getting it through to the final round!!

I have voted.

message 10547: by Gretchen (new)

Gretchen (eab2012) I voted for it. In my opinion, there wasn't much for competition, except for possibly A King's Ransom but I haven't read that yet. Many of you know how much I loved Frog Music and I refuse to read The King's Curse

message 10548: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (last edited Nov 10, 2014 12:04PM) (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Fun to see a book we wrote in for get into the semi. :) It will need A LOT of votes to get to the next round.
I suspect though, that now it is one of the options, and people will get the GR email saying "a book you have read made it into the GR Awards semi finals" it may get plenty of votes.

It has been very widely read. Has more reviews and ratings than most of the other books on that list. Those reviewers and raters need to come vote now. :)

Imagine if it got through and then won! We could claim to have got it into the comp in the first place. hehe

message 10549: by Gretchen (new)

Gretchen (eab2012) I think Bruce would owe us if his book comes out on top of the hill ;)

message 10550: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)
