Sizable in 2012
To my lovely Mad Scientist,Does size matter when it comes to the book & content?
Where will you fall in book sizes?
What will be my biggest book of the 2012 year?
Shall my shortest novella be worth the small pages?
Sincerely, Me
I'm def going to do this challenge! This will make it a lot easier to keep up with my book sizes thruout the year :)~Audiobooks

In 2011, I read over 80 books that were 500+ pages. I think the longest fiction book was A Suitable Boy and the longest non-fiction was Gotham: A History of New York City to 1898. I'm planning to read at least 80 books over 500 pages this year.
Shay wrote: "In 2011, I read over 80 books that were 500+ pages. I think the longest fiction book was A Suitable Boy and the longest non-fiction was [book:Gotham: A History of New York City to 1898..."Wow! Shay! Wow!
I have not heard of either. We will be watching your list for BIG hefty Books!
For the record. I haven't heard of either of those.
Haha I saw so many of your books we even over 1000 pages last year. I can just imagine what books you will accomplish this year.
i think my longest fiction last year with Kushiel's Dart = the paperback was over 1000, and my longest non-fiction was Washington: A Life that was like 960 (i did the audiobook and it was 40+ hours of listening)
I have 2 that are set for long books for me on audiobooks for this year. They are both 45+ hours long and it is taking me quite awhile to read them. I am looking forward to see what I can do.
I only know of a handful of really big books. I'll be looking to everyone for ideas. Just a heads up.
I'm in for this challenge! Sounds like another really fun one. I'm really interested to see how many bigger books I read this year. Chunky Book Challenge

A listopia of big books:http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/31...
Some of the books were added in error- too short- but it's a good place to start if you're looking for longer books.
I was looking at that earlier. There is a list for 800+ & 1000+ as well. I think the big books are going to challenge me to get out of my comfort range. Which I think is pretty open but some of the big books sound very boring :(
I am excited to see how many I get over 400 pages even. I am on my second right now though :). I will be done here in the next couple of days.
MS - do you like Fantasy? most of the Kushiel series are 500+ pages but the world building is soo intricate
I do like fantasy. I just got the Game of Thorns series. and I love Margaret George's long historicals. I'll have to check to see if Lord of Rings has a huge amount of pages.

Just started listening to
but I'm looking at the book book right now. Next to the computer. I'm just not able to concentrate so much right now for something so complex. So, I'm doing a cheat of sort.
I have both "The Stand" and "Under the Dome", maybe I should try to read them this year as well. I have yet to read any Stephen King anyway.
I have Under the Dome and hope to read it sometime soon...mmmm...looking like a good book to make either MBOM or VR.
I've yet to read King as well. I was told to start off w the stand. Maybe we can work through them and get some interesting conversation going. There has been none on the group reads :( I'm thinking we could get rid of them if no one discusses and just do an open discussion and/ find others to read the book w through a thread. ???But I'm open for reading either or of the King books.
I hate group reads where there are no discussions, or where the discussion just revolves around, omg I loved this book with nothing else
Mad Scientist wrote: "I've yet to read King as well. I was told to start off w the stand. Maybe we can work through them and get some interesting conversation going. Whereas I like to stick to my current shelves and kill THAT stuff off. But I would be up for reading The Stand if we're supposed to do that first.
@Dee I know what u mean. I didn't vote for either of the books. But I tried starting convos for both. I wish to get some more in depth discussions.@Adam I wish group reads would branch out more, not just this group. I do read YA but I like to read so much more. I'm up for added the Stand for the next month... Or two.
We can post a King poll between the two and see who has which book the most?
I'll add a thread so we can Get together for ideas for books that members have and want to read, together, or at least discuss together.
I would like to get one book in each category... so that will be another little goal I have for this year.100+

With the 12x12 challenge I wanted to keep track of how many bigger books I read, just to make sure that I don't sluff off. Because, honestly, I surly would go for a handful of smaller books just to make myself look completely worthy of the challenge.
With popular demand and discussion on this topic here we will be able to challenge ourselves to read books of various sizes.
