Hello! My Name Is...
Cozy-mystery.com has a list of authors with books set in New York State:

The only cozies I don't really like are ones that completely ignore police procedure - in other words, the sleuth hides or destroys evidence and nothing happens to her. Just unrealistic and usually a sign that the author has done little research.
Welcome Stephanie! I think a lot of us see cozies as book comfort food.
I find for a lot of the amateur sleuths I have to be willing to suspend reality, which only works if the writing is really good, and I like everything else. But there are some where it's too implausible and if I roll my eyes too much, I give up and find something better.

Welcome Lisa! I hope you'll find some great series here, and share some of your favorites with us.

Hi Melinda! Good luck on deciding what's next, there are so many to choose from. Maybe you'll get some ideas from our members' favorites.

Since I joined really late, I decided to start with next month's selections and I'm looking forward to it.

Welcome Tam! I hope you'll find some inspiring cozies here. My PBS station is currently showing Poirot in it's Masterpiece Mystery series.
Hi Katrina! I hope we can enable your addiction :) I've found a lot of interesting sounding series - now I need to find time to read them.
Hi Katrina! I hope we can enable your addiction :) I've found a lot of interesting sounding series - now I need to find time to read them.

I'm Steve based in the West Midlands area of the UK. I've enjoyed mysteries for most of my life (I blame an early exposure to the Joan Hickson Miss Marple TV show personally) but I've only just started to read cozy mystery books.
I'm currently working my way through a huge back log of books on my ereader including many 1st books of cozy mysery series that were free.
My personal preference is for mysteries that can be worked out by clues in the book, i.e. not holding back evidence until the last possible as a resolution, but a good story with good characters sometimes over comes that.
I've not dipped into the paranormal cozy mysteries yet (as I'm not sure if I'll enjoy them, seems too much of a mashup of genre in my mind's eye) but there's a few on my ereader so I'll at least give a couple a go.
I've joined up to see what series people recommend or if any interesting books get mentioned.

I'm fairly new to Goodreads. Though, I write cozies, I love all sorts of mysteries and thrillers. I'm currently reading a book by James Swain, and I'm on the waiting list at the library for the latest books by my favorite writers. Goodreads has already pointed me in the direction of two new authors that I plan to try. I love finding someone who enjoyed a book I loved. When I see that, I shoot them a message so I can get their take on the book. Goodreads is the ultimate reading club.
Welcome to the group R! GR groups are great places to find new authors and books, leading many of us to have overwhelming tbrs. I hope you'll introduce yourself and your work in the Authors and Bloggers section.

Welcome Sue! I hope you'll introduce us to your books in the Author/Bloggers folder.
I own a copy of Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter, but haven't gotten around to reading it. Unfortunately that's true for way too many books :)

I'm 26 and I live in a small town in Virginia
I have 2 cats and 2 dogs and they're all pretty awesome
I've loved reading since I was a kid. I took a break from it in my later teen and early adult years but got back into it a couple of years ago.
My all-time favorite genre is mystery with romance coming in at a close second.
My favorite shows are CSI, Criminal Minds, NCIS, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD...anything along those lines
My favorite movies are those by Tim Burton and anything involving Johnny Depp
My favorite colors are black, blue and purple
My favorite season is summer. I love the warm weather, flip flops, cookouts...everything the season is about
My mood decides whether I'm reading a book in print or on my eReader
I look forward to connecting with everyone and chatting about out awesome reads!
Welcome Ashley! Where at in Virginia are you? I was born and raised in the Lynchburg area, went to college in Danville, and have lived in Falls Church, Fairfax County, and Winchester.
I look forward to chatting with you and getting to know you better.

It just encourages planning. I lived that far or farther from a grocery for a couple of years. I learned, though there was a little shop where I could buy a quart of milk at highly inflated prices if I was desperate.

Welcome to the group Alana! We're happy to be your first group, and if you have any questions, we'll be glad to answer them. It sounds like you had a good time on your shopping trip :) I've heard mixed things about Tempest in a Teapot, so I'll be interested in what you think of it.
I've *stolen* Blood Song from your shelf and added it to mine :)

I'm in a small town near the WV border called Covington. I'm probably about 2 hours away from Lynchburg.

Thanks guys! Have a good one

Hi Ami,
I, too, live in a small town in the Colorado mountains (Breckenridge). Are you nearby?

I live in the Denver metro area and my nephew used to date a girl who lived in Bailey.

Welcome Pat! With mysteries having a lot of sub-genres now - it's sometimes a bit confusing to me. I have several books left to read in VL's series, and hope to catch up on them and several others next year.

Welcome Bridget! You'll find lots of cozy series here, and we're happy to make recommendations if you have an interest in a particular theme.

Thank you. No themes...YET! :-)
I'm noticing a lot of different ones...I'm sure I'll find one (@ least)...as I continue on..Can't wait! Hopefully I'll find some with animals...especially dogs..but the ones with cats look funny too...reading one with a cat in it now...She's too smart!

Okay.I read the summaries of them all, picked out one and put it on my Want to Read list...I'll try to look through them again when I get some of my TBR list down! :-D
You're much more disciplined than I am! I add as many books to my tbr as I read, sometimes more!
