uh, okay.
So anyway...
Plans for New Years, anyone have any?

Flyin solo or big group?
Think I'll be attending a house party. Haven't decided. Just know I'm getting too old for the whole bar/club scene.
I'm all "get-off-my-lawn" old and such.

You don't celebrate it, you use it as an excuse to get toodrunk and make huge mistakes
Weather-wise we have going on what anywhere else in the country would be a blizzard....had about 3 or 4 inches so far. We might have to get out the snowmobiles to go to the bar if this doesnt stop soon...which sounds like a bit of trouble. We shall see!
Maggie,It sounds like you and I live in similar country! I know more than a few people who have ridden snowmobiles to the bar :)
I have my kids on the weekends, so this year we'll hang out at home, most likely watch movies or play the Wii. I told the kids they can stay up until just past midnight, but I'm guessing one or both will pass out before then. I'll be surprised if they get to 11pm LOL
going to a gathering of old o.c. high school chums. a little nervous. i'm close with the ones who moved up to the bay area, but tonight there will be many more, folks i haven't seen for a couple decades & partners never met. maybe i'll just skulk in the corner with a book, like i used to do at high school parties as designated driver. or maybe i'll hide in the hot tub with a cocktail, which sounds more agreeable.
Going to stay in family round. Kick myself I did not go up a local hill at midnight - stayed in - I am 7 miles from the centre of Edinburgh. I could have watched the fireworks live from there....
Managed to get away from work at 9pm, people falling out of things, off things and just falling over.

Drunken text from last night.
I've no idea what the hell it means.

I'm hungover! Wasn't yesterday. Decided to do that New Year's thing twice, with more emphasis on the second.

sad thing is, it's a text I sent someone else. You'd think I'd have a clue what the hell I was saying, but nope.

Ooh, yes. E-ink is totally amazing. I rely so heavily on my Nook now, I'd be lost without it. I just checked, and the last dead-tree book I read was almost 3 months ago.
If "night mode" is light text on a dark background, I can't do that. It gives me migraines. Even in a dark environment. My brain no likey. =\

I have scolosis, was diagnosied when I was 7 - a very early discovery, and had an extremely severe curve. Just a few degrees away from needing surgery. So, my entire childhood, doctors would tell my parents that I would never carry a child full term. Well, I did, and had no complications aside from the pinched sciaca nerve the last few weeks.

I've actually had issues whenever I looked at e-ink devices - I don't like the low contrast at all, though I've heard they've improved this with the more recent Kindles.
I've noticed a big improvement in my reading endurance since I started reading on my kindle. I never thought it would actually be easier on the eyes.. But it is. Yesterday I decided to pick up an actual paper book for old times sake.. Read a chapter and my eyes were super tired.. Switched to my kindle and finished the book in one sitting. It's much better for me. I'll miss dead tree books though...
Dawn, that's awesome. I've noticed that you've been rocking some books lately. Woo for the Kindle! :DNicki, I can only imagine how bad it must be to hold chunky books open with arthritis. It's awkward and uncomfortable enough for me and that's just out of pure laziness.
Holding an e-reader is just so much easier. Not to mention it's lighter, with fast page turns with just a tap, practically a whole library of books at my fingertips, adjustable font size... It just doesn't compare.
*puts away pom-poms*
Ron, all this time I thought you were reading on a Blackberry PHONE app. I didn't realize a Playbook was a tablet. LOL If that works for you, then by all means, stick with it. There's no need to buy another device if that does the job and you like it. I was thinking you were reading on this tiny screen and my eyes were hurting just thinking about it. LOL
lol! I've never been able to do white on black writings. They make my eyes hurt and I get headaches/migraines. It hurts just to look at the pic, lol.Kobo has that option for the app but I never use it. I heart my eInk.
Getting over a caffeine withdrawal headache so feeling a bit grumpy. Love my kindle, and find it easier to get hold of books that I've been trying to find for ages.

yes, of course. and thank you, much appreciated.
and yep, comment & runs are indeed frustrating. in the past, i've found them personally infuriating, so i suppose that makes me rather a hypocrite, of sorts. but in my old old age of 41, these days i tend to just choose Opt Out if i am frustrated. these days i run away from stress. not saying this is a good thing.. i also realize that this is the opposite of 'dialogue'. so i will make an effort to refrain from that.
