Heh. But you read it, so you're good. ;)
Honestly, I don't care one way or the other, but I know some people who are all like "you're not a real fantasy fan if you haven't read Tolkien" and shit. (It's probably worse that I did read it and found it, especially LotR, kinda boring.)
Based on the stuff that you're meant to read to be a real fantasy fan, I'm, apparently, not. *shrugs*
Lol, I feel the same as you about LotR. I enjoyed The Hobbit far more, but feel fairly indifferent to the movie.
Just out of curiosity, do you think that the build up for the movie over the past several years as anything to do with that? Or was it just something you were never that fussed about?'Cause I think I was more excited when I first heard they were planning a Hobbit movie, but now after all the delays and changes in plans and everything, I'm kinda "oh, cool... I'll probably go see that..." instead of "Oh, Cool! Gotta go see that!"
Of course, based on the trailer, I'd most likely go see it even if I didn't know anything about the book or LotR or Tolkien or whatever, just 'cause it looks like the kind of thing I would normally go see anyway.
That's kinda disturbing, Roland.
I might get more excited for it when it gets closer to release. It's almost a whole year away, after all.Right now I'm all excited about seeing Sherlock Holmes for Xmas.
And then there's The Raven in March which I'm looking forward to. And I'll most likely go see Dark Knight Rises, and The Avengers... Snow White and the Huntsman looks promising, with the possible exception of Kirsten Stewart...
Ya know, I think they're starting to tease for movies too early. I get all excited when I first see it... and then I start to lose interest in the intervening months.
Avengers is the only one I'm really looking forward to.
Oooh - I was browsing movie releases for 2012 and came across the fact that they're doing a film adaptation of the musical version of 'Les Mis' being released in Dec 2012. Now that I'm excited about. I love the stage play - I've seen it a bunch of times and I cry every time. It's actually the play that made me want to act... And ever since I saw the version of 'Phantom of the Opera' with Gerard Butler I've wanted them to do Les Mis.
Except I'm half-terrified they'll fuck it up!
*trembling squee*
I had a sort of "that could be cool and Michael Pellerin will find a way to rake in the cash" reaction when The Hobbit was first announced, then completely forgot about it. I haven't been to see a movie in a long time. Looking forward to Sherlock Holmes though!

Owner of Pellerin Multimedia Inc., also known as the guy responsible for the extra cuts/extended cuts/here's another version of the DVD set you need to buy bonanza. His company was a client when they were doing all of the behind the scenes stuff for King Kong & wrapping up yet another cut of LotR. Dude makes bank.

"I'm like this about 99% of movie adaptations. LOTR is the exception... They changed quite a bit from the books, but I loooove them.
I anticipate The Hobbit being the same kind of deal. I hope, anyway.
...As you were.
I am greatly anticipating The Hobbit movies, in some ways more than I did LOTR. I think the book is more moviable (as long as they don't add some romance). I am also glad there are 2 movies which I think necessary to do all of the parts justice. Leaving anything out would be criminal.
I don't even know what's going on anymore.

Double the Becks, double the fun?
No, as you can see there is an apostrophe. Beck's.Which means, you get royalties every time we drink one.
I got purple lightsaber chopsticks & my own text-based video game from my boyfriend. Suck it, Santa!
What exactly are you wanting Santa to suck?

I don't think it's very clear there's an apostrophe, but I won't argue with money... Hmmm...
