I'm considering going back and changing my "M" selection to something by Anne McCaffrey. She just passed away so it seems like a small thing to do in honor of her. She's one of my very favorite authors - the one who introduced me to the genre (when I read "The Rowan") back when I was about 14. Any other McCaffrey fans out there?

She was really nice. I told her that she would forever be in the #2 position on my list of all time fav authors. She asked me who was #1. I told her "Andre Norton" and she said, "Ok, I'm more than willing to take second place to HER." (Andre helped her get started wwaayyyyyy back when and gave her moral support.)
I have an autographed first edition Restoree (her very first published work) and I also have autographed copies of the 2 magazines that Dragonflight first appeared in. As well as a first edition of the book itself. Yes, I do admit to being a total geek girl when it comes to my fav authors. (Don't even ASK about my Norton collection--lets just say--8.5 ft high bookshelf, 6 ft. wide and filled all the way up.)

Done, I don't know why, but it was hard for me to read that last book. It was good, but it was hard start a new series.

She was on blood thinners, so the con where I met her had her surrounded at all times by "body..."Ann, I'm so jealous of your autographed copies! I got to meet her in 2005 (I've got a photo with her on my FB page). I had her sign my edition of The Rowan - since it was the first book I read of hers and the one that got me hooked. And also of my regular copy of Dragonflight, since it's her most popular, but I'd give quite a bit to have a signed first edition. Still, I'm lucky to have met her.
