Welcome, Groovh. I am new here too. Unlike you though, I hate the old stuff. I sometimes read it for purely sentimental reasons, but they make me soooo angry and I get pissed off that this was the expression of female sexuality (or lack thereof) that I got presented with in my teenage years...

Lol rant over, sorry!

message 1802: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Hi, Anna, welcome as well. Was the old stuff you read Harlequin or Silhouette? I had some favorite authors who wrote for them and they always put the women in respectful positions. I know what you mean though, sometimes I ran across a very weak woman and an overbearing Alpha male.

Welcome to the group Groovy! Great to have you here, and hope you find heaps of books to chat about.

This is a good thread to see what members are reading: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/..., but otherwise, all the challenges welcome chat about the books being read :)

Just remember that some members are time poor, and often 'post and run' ;)

Welcome to the group Dawn :) I think I can blame Harry Potter for my renewed interest in reading! I loved that series so much and then realised that there were so many great books out there that weren't what I found in KMart or Target (our variety stores in Australia)! Of course, goodreads and this group helped enormously in picking out the best ones to read ;)

Dawn | 5 comments I am liking goodreads, but I haven't quite figured all out yet. Like now when I try to reply to someone, I'm not sure if they see it or not

I can see it because I have notifications turned on for this thread...

If you want someone to see the reply, click on the reply text at the base of the person's comment - this will include part of the original comment in your comment, like mine is shown in message 1869. They should then get a notification of your comment :) *i think* ;)

MountainKat | 31805 comments Welcome Liz! Challenges are a great way to figure out what is next to read - they help me all the time! But be warned, challenges are addicting and before you know it you will be participating more and more! =P

Welcome to the group Liz :) It's amazing how a few categories each month can sort through your muddled brain and help select your next book to read ;)

I'll weigh in and then i'm deleting your second post - because you were asked to not self-promote and that is what you have done. If you scroll to the top of this page of the thread, you will see there I have deleted multiple self-promotion comments - it has been requested by the mods (and I am one) that this thread is for intro's only. We have a self-promotion thread, if you decide to post there. While you ascertain that others have promoted - none of the number of posts you link correspond to posts in this thread, I will investigate those and see however and if they are inappropriate, they will be deleted.
