Welcome to the group Sabrina! It's funny what triggers our love of romance, or brings us back into the fold. I'd given up on it for years until a particular book (Twilight) made me realise there was a whole other genre sitting staring at me that I hadn't realised was romance!

MountainKat | 31805 comments Hi Shay! Welcome to the group! We have lots of challenges and discussions here that can help you find friends and new books too!

Simone (simonethevixen) | 12 comments Mountain Kat how do I find simple challenges ? Like one book or month or two?
I see a book for everyday of the month , how do you beep up with all of them

message 1956: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31805 comments In monthly challenge you can choose how many you want to, as low as three books for the month. The PIFM is one that you only have to read one book for in a month - I will be posting for December soon, but you can check out the November challenge to see how it works. The Featured Author Challenge only requires one book during the month. The quarterly challenge and others with similar timelines usually start at 5 books for the three month period. Yahtzee is another one that is usually one book a month, but that is just about over - I'm not sure if that one is repeating in the new year.

There are occasional buddy reads going on too that you might be interested in. I'm sure there are other options, but that is all I can think of off the top of my head.

Also, a lot of people use a Reading List thread to keep track of their challenges.

Simone (simonethevixen) | 12 comments Mountain Kat how do you use the reading list thread

message 1958: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31805 comments Shay wrote: "Mountain Kat how do you use the reading list thread"

Click on 'Member's Reading List' to open that folder, then click on 'new topic' at the top of the list on the right. It will open a thread for you - give it a title like 'Shay's Reading List'. Then you organize the posts in whatever fashion makes sense to you. I always started with just a book list of all the books I read during the year, but you should look at a few of the other threads to see how others do things.

MountainKat | 31805 comments Yes, you are right. Let me check the app and see how it works there - but remember you can always go to your browser and access GR that way.

From the app, you go to the group, then to the Member's Reading List folder and in the upper right there is a plus sign ( + ). You use that to add a new topic. I only use the app for little things though, I know it is harder to add links in the app and you can't 'reply' to someone so that their comment is quoted in yours. I've also never found a way to edit or delete from the app either.

message 1962: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24352 comments Hi Shay - welcome to the group! It can be hard to work this site with only the GR app. I only use the app to see what's going on and to do the odd review. It's hard to post longer messages on the app ~ or at least, I find it hard! I always use my computer on the full site to post most of my updates, challenges etc...

Sandra | 712 comments Hi I'm Sandra from Ireland. People used to say I was born with a book in my hand, but a few years ago I just stopped reading and hadn't picked up a book since. Anyway, I read Fifty Shades back in Feb (after seeing the movie) and haven't stopped reading since! Love romance books. I never met a romance hero I didn't like! So many books, so little time...... Just signed up for the December challenge. Here goes, lets see how I do!

Jacqueline Francis (loveromance446) | 1 comments Hi everyone. My name is Jacqueline. I live in Johannesburg, South Africa I joined this group a few weeks ago but was a little intimidated to say anything, I guess. I, too, am a romance junkie. Can't get enough. Just devoured "Within these walls", "The Deal" and "Breaking him" in the last few weeks so you can see that I like any type of romance (as long as its believable)so if you have any good recommendations, please let me know. Going on holiday next week and need a health stash :)

Welcome to the group Noorsheen - it's interesting how we stumble on to groups. I can't remember how I decided to join this particular GR group, but I love being a member, so it doesn't really matter ;)

Hey Jacqueline - don't be shy to comment. Whilst you may not always get a response, everyone is really open to chatting and getting stuck into our challenges :)

I think I have 'The Deal' down on a wishlist somewhere, but haven't read the other two books you listed ~ too busy shifting my Mount TBR pile ;) The main thing is that you either enjoyed them, or worked out what didn't work so that you can avoid similar books in the future!

Have fun and don't be backwards in asking about anything :D

Melissa (addysgammie) | 1 comments Hey everyone, I'm Missy and I'm from Central Ga . I love to read ,most of the time you can find me reading on my kindle. I read about 10-20 books a week. I don't work anymore as a nurse for health reasons. My daughter and son have moved out. I have a grand daughter who loves to read too.I read romance contempary, suspense and erotica. I like anything romance and most women s fiction or chic lit too. I'm going to try to join the challenges and other activities this month but may not get to do as much due to holidays. I am an ARC reader for Nightowl Reviews and Netgalley. I post on Amazon and Netgalley and Nightowl. I would like one day to write my own romance novel.

MountainKat | 31805 comments Welcome Missy! I hope to see you in a few challenges, but I know what you mean - December can make reading difficult!

message 1986: by Sonia189 (new)

Sonia189 | 11 comments Hi, I'm Sonia and I live in Portugal.

I obviously love reading and joined mostly so I can know about even more books, like any other book addict.
I like many types of books, preferably with romance. I avoid YA and pure erotica because they no longer appeal to me.

I was wondering, does anyone know if the 2016 yearly challenges will be the same ones posted for 2015 or will there be other thematic ones?

message 1987: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31805 comments Hi Sonia - welcome to the group! Most of the yearly challenges will return, but there will be some new too! The next quarterly will start soon too! We have challenges going all the time and try to keep the old favorites around while adding in new ideas. =)

Are you also a goodreads librarian Shelly? There are a few of them around, but I'm not one ;) Not sure what the requirements are...

message 1992: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31805 comments Welcome Shelly! My grandma was a librarian! We joke that reading is genetic in our family!

message 1993: by Sonia189 (new)

Sonia189 | 11 comments Thank you for your welcome!

Well, I wanted to join a yearly challenge, but not the series or A to Zs variations because I want to use books from my TBR and I have this method of sort of distributing books through the months, so I don't want to have to stick with too many titles in a short amount of time, I prefer a year long pace.
I'm curious to see which new ones you all would add for 2016.

Not sure of the timeframe for posting the annual challenges but the hosts have them fairly ready :) I'm guessing they will put them up in the second half of December...

Hi Jane just saw your post abt u being interested in becoming a goodreads librarian....for that you can click on the tab jobs which is present at the end of the website's page just next to goodreads trade mark sign and about us tab.
When you click on that tab it will open a new page. There on the left hand side there is an option called Librarian Manual click on that and u will get
all the information regarding goodreads librarian.
I hope you find this information useful :)

Hi Jane, no I'm not a goodreads Librarian. I am a public librarian that specializes in genealogy and local history. I really enjoy it!

We have a similar joke "MountainKat". I think just about everyone in my family loves to read. I'm the only one that decided to turn it into a career. :)

Welcome to the gorup Harlow! If you are anything like me, you'll have trouble NOT adding books to your TBR pile. I see a new book (often repeatedly read by our members) and can't help but *click*! ;)
