Sure, I am just getting the kid's lists without checking the library. When I can catch the tweens they are excited to give me their books lists. Malika

Leslie (lesslie) My 9 yr old son, Thomas, is in a local library Pre-teen book club. Right now they are reading Poppy. He thinks it's okay, but he had me order Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief for him yesterday. He is currently reading The Day My Butt Went Psycho series cos he got them for his birthday, but he doesn't seem to like them as much as he thought he would. His favorite thing to read is Mad Magazine. Sigh.

message 55: by Timothy (new)

Timothy Davis | 120 comments LOL. Sorry I didn't read this post before I answered your post in the introduction section. I'm glad that Thomas had you order The Lightning Thief yesterday. If he likes it, it should keep them busy reading for a while. There are four more books in the series. Two more books involving the same characters (plus new ones) in Riordan's Heroes of Olympus series, and the first two books of Riordan's The Kane Chronicles. I wouldn't worry too much about Thomas' obsession with Mad Magazine. I was deeply obsessed with them myself at age 9. If Thomas doesn't like The Lightning Thief, we'll put our heads together and find some books he doesn't like.

My son enjoyed Hatter's Creek Rescue. It's an adventure story, probably geared a little more for boys.

Timothy Davis | 120 comments Hi Dwight & Son. I cannot find Hatter's Creek Rescue in the Goodreads library, although I found it on Amazon. I have requested that it be added to the Goodreads library, and I'll let you know the outcome. Thanks for the recommendation!

Timothy Davis | 120 comments Hi Again, Dwight & Son. Goodreads has added Hatter's Creek Rescue.(http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13...). Do you think you and your son could write a paragraph about it and add it to the group library? Thanks! :D

Great recommendation, Erik. Are you going to blog Hatchet (Hatchet, #1) by Gary Paulsen Hatchet? If so, could you add your blog as the group's review of Hatchet, or just write a paragraph? Only if you have time. Thanks again!

Oh, you're killing me! YOur list encompases some of my very favorites! It's true what they say about the reading one does in childhood becoming a part of you and staying with you forever. Reading that list was like looking back at school yearbooks! So many old friends!
