Gingerlily - Mistress Lantern wrote: "In there with the washing up and grass cutting, no doubt."Not at all ;-) just bought it actually, so there.
Gingerlily - Mistress Lantern wrote: "Well you have a treat in store :)"and you've still got the washing up to do and the grass to cut :-)

He was the first Hell's Angel, because he came down the hill on his triumph ;-)
September's Derby Telegraph article about buses and the characters who drove them in the 1970s:http://philwhiteland.blogspot.co.uk/2...

It's now on this site, too. https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog...
Gingerlily - Mistress Lantern wrote: "Sounds like Derby buses have a lot of similarities to Dublin buses."These were Burton buses, but what's a few miles between friends? I reckon it's the same buses and crew that are used everywhere, only the names are changed to confuse people.
Ah right - I have actually been on a Derby bus, but not a Burton one. What colour are they? Dublin buses are currently these ones
but in 1970s it was like this
I think they were red, white and green in the 1970s. They're all over the shop now. The latest incumbents are orange and red (I think, my sense of colour is a bit suspect) http://www.midlandclassic.com
They are bright and cheerful. And difficult to miss - which is probably the reason for the colour scheme. :)When I say 'difficult to miss' I mean easy to see, rather than easy to catch!
Gingerlily - Mistress Lantern wrote: "Sounds like Derby buses have a lot of similarities to Dublin buses."or Bristol Buses ?

Nice one, Jim! It's the oldest swinger in town, isn't it?
That's the same guy. A chap I knew way back (like in the 1970s) had his LPs and used to play them a lot so a lot of the songs got stuck in my mindtry this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOdeI...

I may be getting this mixed up, because I was somewhat inebriated at the time, but I felt sure I once saw him running a disco in a pub in Paignton.
Gingerlily - Mistress Lantern wrote: "I get a message saying 'Confirm your profile'. I think that hasn't quite worked right..."Oh rats! Just try www.philwhiteland.blogspot.co.uk
Gingerlily - Mistress Lantern wrote: "That worked!Wait a mo - is that a concrete marmite jar? Excellent!"
It is! One of the artistic delights of Burton
Gingerlily - Mistress Lantern wrote: "Maybe smear a tiny bit on each cover for a better all round experience."That would work!
Jim wrote: "somehow you look as if you've been photoshopped into the photo :-)"It's the story of my life, Jim. I look like I've been photoshopped in reality, which is why so many people say " Is he for real?"
Gingerlily - Mistress Lantern wrote: "Nah - Philip is the centre of everything, and the photo was shopped around him!"How kind :-)
I've been thinking about the publication date for the new book, 'The Things You See...' Originally it was going to be November 12th, then it dawned on me that there really is only one date for a book called something like that - it'll be out there on October 31st! Available for pre-order shortly :-)
