Philip Whiteland - the man behind Josiah and Archibald (which makes it sound like we're in a queue!)
Oddly enough, on the same day as my Granny passed 6,000 copies sold, the sequel 'Crutches For Ducks' sold it's 1,600th copy! Not in the same league as my granny, obviously but...well done, me duck!http://getbook.at/crutchesforducks

This month's Derby Telegraph article continuing the story of my 1970s working life at a Paper Conversion Mill and how a couple of minor technological advances nearly put me out of work:http://philwhiteland.blogspot.co.uk/2...
Jim wrote: "I knew somebody who frankly could have been replaced by a paper clip ;-)"Very cutting ;-)
"I don't know about you (well, obviously I don't, I'm not even sure who you are) but Amazon and their associates have the happy knack of pleasantly surprising me. [continued}"http://philwhiteland.blogspot.co.uk/2...
Ever get the feeling that you're actually in a play, but nobody's told you?http://philwhiteland.blogspot.co.uk/2...
David wrote: "Yes. Excellent stuff."Thanks David. The best of it is, I don't have to make any of this stuff up - it just happens!
You know that feeling when you think you may have made the wrong decision? Well, that...http://philwhiteland.blogspot.co.uk/2...
As part of the effort to get my new paperback version of The Things You See... noticed by the world, I sent emails to the Burton and Derby branches of Waterstone's and Radio Derby. This was two or three weeks ago. After getting no reply from any of them, I forwarded it again with a slightly snotty few lines about the lack of good PR on their parts. This has generated a response from the Burton branch. To be fair, the manager has done his best to explain the situation with regard to stocking my book (the nub of which is 'it ain't gonna happen') and has given some good general advice for any self-published author trying to sell books but somehow the irony that a book largely about growing up and working in Burton upon Trent can't be stocked by the main bookshop in Burton, seems to have passed him by. Oh well :-(

BTW, The Things You See... has been reduced to 99p from tomorrow for the rest of the Bank Holiday week.
Why I won't be keeping the fish and chips company any longer ;-)http://philwhiteland.blogspot.com/201...

yes, I've several times put the words of a press release I've done into google and it's brought up the local newspaper articles, which have copy/pasted the press release into the paper.Local journalism is dying unfortunately

We have only ourselves to blame. Apparently some small town papers in the U.S. are hanging on by going down a subscription model.
I must go back to the sea again, the lonely sea and the sky...https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog...
I'm having a Lowest Possible Price for August promotion of my books (for August, naturally). This means that all of the 'nostalgedy' collection are just 99p (or equivalent) throughout August except for The Things You See..., which can't be less than £1.49 because of the file size, apparently. Thus you can get the whole series for just £5.45 this month!
In addition, the paperback version of The Things You See...: A Collection of Stories is down to just £5.99 for August.
If you've ever toyed with the idea of dipping your toe into the pool of 'nostalgedy' for the summer, now would be a great time to do it :-)
Just a reminder that all of the books in the 'nostalgedy' collection are at their LOWEST POSSIBLE PRICE in the UK (and equivalent worldwide) for the month of August only. They'll never be this cheap again :-)http://mybook.to/nostalgedycollection

Apparently not, if the lack of response is any guide ;-)
Jim wrote: "I remember the tin :-)"So do a lot of people, apparently. This blog post has had nearly 1,000 hits in a couple of days :-)
Jim wrote: "good grief, that's something else!"I think it's more down to the pulling power of Ronnie Barker than anything else ;-)
Today, I'm mostly thinking about renting a cottage on the Isle of Wight...if it's not too dear, for some unaccountable reason ;-)
I've written a new story about my hapless undertakers, Josiah and Archibald, and its been cherry-picked on ABC tales :-)https://www.abctales.com/comment/7093...
Anyone that is interested I run my own book review blog giving my own personal views on books that I’ve read and giving recommendations as to what are good holiday reads. The link to my blog is :

This is Philip's author thread, Mark. You need to post in the Blog Roll section.
Just FYI, I now have a small stock of the paperback version of
ready and waiting to be snapped up as the ideal stocking-filler (and we're not talking Mariah Carey here). I'm offering FREE Delivery in the mainland U.K. if you buy direct from me. Go on, make someone ITCS this year, you know if makes sense!
I thought it might help if I opened the bonnet and let you look inside :-)https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog...
I've wanted to add another story or two to my Alternativity series (a very alternative telling of the Nativity) but I couldn't think of anything I hadn't already covered, and then it occurred to me that the last time we saw the Wise Men was when the Shepherds sent them off on a wild goose chase to see King Herod. I wondered how that might have worked out?https://www.abctales.com/story/philwh...
This is the second of my two additional AlterNativity stories. Of course, at Christmas everyone gets on with each other, even the animals...don't they?https://www.abctales.com/story/philwh...
