Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments This is sort of an appeal for help. If anyone who has read and enjoyed Steady Past Your Granny's could spare a few minutes to leave a review on Amazon.co.uk, that would be much appreciated. I seem to be attracting the odd poor review, which is entirely fair but does tend to have a greater impact on sales than all of the very positive ones. Therefore, anything that can help tip the balance back toward the positive would be most welcome.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Thank goodness you posted the above, Phil. I took a look and the review I had written ages ago had never appeared! I've written a new one and hopefully it will be up soon.

Patti, thanks so much for your wonderful review. It's certainly brightened my day and helped to balance up the range of opinions. I'm very grateful.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments It was a pleasure, Phil. I'm glad this one appeared!

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Well, as we suspected, I wasn't exactly killed in the rush to enter the competition I set a week or so ago ;-)

However, if you're interested in the answer, you can now find it at philwhiteland.blogspot.com

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I knew the answer was Walter Smith but the family butchers bit escaped me. Damn. Never mind I'll try the next one,

You should have tried anyway, Lynne. In the absence of any other, more correct, answers...

Thanks for taking an interest. Hope you find the next one more straightforward.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Glad to hear there's going to be another contest!

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Sort of pushed Phil into that one, didn't I?

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yep. Well done, Lynne. ;)

Don't tell me, Patti...you want to win two so you can read in stereo? ;-)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yep, I'm greedy.

I'm glad that others will have a chance of getting their own copy, is all.

But if you want to send me another....

I would, but after your very kind review, it would seem like bribery and corruption, and we can't have that, can we? ;-)

message 114: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Well, not bribery anyway!

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Ok, so here's the latest quiz question where you could win a signed (or even singed) hard copy of the book. This time, all the clues can be found in the blog, so no purchase necessary! Have fun and good luck.

TIP - start with the venue for the walk ;-)

message 118: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments I've changed the Product Description on the Amazon.co.uk page for Steady Past Your Granny's - I would be really grateful for any feedback.

message 119: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments I've made the quiz question slightly easier by now including the links to the relevant posts in the question. Go on, have a bash!

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Here's a thought! Try putting the 'venue' and the 'device' into Google and see what comes up ;-)

Try putting the venue and the equipment that my grandmother found so trying, together and then google it. Just a thought ;-)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Thats what flummoxed me. Not simples is it.

message 126: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments What flummoxed you? Try county + device into Google and see what comes up.

message 127: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments I've put the answer on the Blog. Thanks to everyone who took an interest.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I've left a message on your blog, but thank you for the quiz, we must have tried your patience.

message 129: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Of course not, Lynne. It's entirely my fault for being too obtuse for words! I'll try again in a week or so. Thanks for your interest.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments In that case I should have got it easily as I've been married to "too obtuse for words" for years

Update: Now even easier ;-)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments It's 'simples' - just follow the link in the blog and tell me which Balearic island I went to for my holidays.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Just left you a comment on your blog ;0) Hope I've done it correctly as it appears to be visible. No just checked and its gone, so all OK.

message 136: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments @ Patti - thanks, you're very kind. At least it won't take up too much space!

@ Lynne - I'm a bit concerned because it isn't there awaiting moderation. If that doesn't work, you can email your answer to mail@philwhiteland.co.uk

One last thing, I have to take a moment to brag - SPYG sold its 2000th Kindle copy yesterday. Chuffed ;-)

That's really made my day! Thanks very much indeed for the very kind comments. "Crutches for Ducks" is currently being edited and formatted, which is a fairly tedious and long-winded process (much like me really) but I'm getting there. Hopefully should meet my proposed publication date of 1st November, provided that annoying things like work don't get in the way
;-)
