This is sort of an appeal for help. If anyone who has read and enjoyed Steady Past Your Granny's could spare a few minutes to leave a review on Amazon.co.uk, that would be much appreciated. I seem to be attracting the odd poor review, which is entirely fair but does tend to have a greater impact on sales than all of the very positive ones. Therefore, anything that can help tip the balance back toward the positive would be most welcome.

Thank goodness you posted the above, Phil. I took a look and the review I had written ages ago had never appeared! I've written a new one and hopefully it will be up soon.

I'm very grateful.
Well, as we suspected, I wasn't exactly killed in the rush to enter the competition I set a week or so ago ;-)However, if you're interested in the answer, you can now find it at philwhiteland.blogspot.com
I knew the answer was Walter Smith but the family butchers bit escaped me. Damn. Never mind I'll try the next one,
Lynne wrote: "I knew the answer was Walter Smith but the family butchers bit escaped me. Damn. Never mind I'll try the next one,"You should have tried anyway, Lynne. In the absence of any other, more correct, answers...
Thanks for taking an interest. Hope you find the next one more straightforward.
Patti (P E) wrote: "Yep. Well done, Lynne. ;)"Don't tell me, Patti...you want to win two so you can read in stereo? ;-)
Yep, I'm greedy.I'm glad that others will have a chance of getting their own copy, is all.
But if you want to send me another....

I would, but after your very kind review, it would seem like bribery and corruption, and we can't have that, can we? ;-)

Too right, Phillip! I'll just pop over and change my review now. ;)
Ok, so here's the latest quiz question where you could win a signed (or even singed) hard copy of the book. This time, all the clues can be found in the blog, so no purchase necessary! Have fun and good luck.http://philwhiteland.blogspot.com/201...
TIP - start with the venue for the walk ;-)
I've changed the Product Description on the Amazon.co.uk page for Steady Past Your Granny's - I would be really grateful for any feedback.
I've made the quiz question slightly easier by now including the links to the relevant posts in the question. Go on, have a bash!http://philwhiteland.blogspot.com/201...
Lynne wrote: "Hi Phil, still flummoxed. I guess I'm having a thick day (or two)"Try putting the venue and the equipment that my grandmother found so trying, together and then google it. Just a thought ;-)
Of course not, Lynne. It's entirely my fault for being too obtuse for words! I'll try again in a week or so. Thanks for your interest.
Lynne wrote: "In that case I should have got it easily as I've been married to "too obtuse for words" for years"I suspect my long-suffering wife would have a degree of sympathy ;-)
Ok, I've given up with the obtuse and cryptic and gone for the dead simple instead! Latest quiz now available onwww.philwhiteland.blogspot.com
Update: Now even easier ;-)
It's 'simples' - just follow the link in the blog and tell me which Balearic island I went to for my holidays.
Just unpacked your book, Phil. It has pride of place on my bookcase in my lounge. Taking it to a dinner party tomorrow night to show it off, too!
Just left you a comment on your blog ;0) Hope I've done it correctly as it appears to be visible. No just checked and its gone, so all OK.
@ Patti - thanks, you're very kind. At least it won't take up too much space!@ Lynne - I'm a bit concerned because it isn't there awaiting moderation. If that doesn't work, you can email your answer to mail@philwhiteland.co.uk
One last thing, I have to take a moment to brag - SPYG sold its 2000th Kindle copy yesterday. Chuffed ;-)

Last few hours of the competition at www.philwhiteland.blogspot.com If you have any problems posting the answer in a comment, just email me at mail@philwhiteland.co.uk before midnight tonight. Good luck!
Just to let you know, if you're interested, that I'm currently busy editing and formatting the sequel to Steady Past Your Granny's, which is due for release on Kindle on 1st November, 2011 and will be called "Crutches for Ducks"
Read your book this week Philip and really enjoyed the journey back through my own youth,I loved the nostalgia, humour and characters.I will join the others eagerly awaiting the sequel.

Thanks very much indeed for the very kind comments. "Crutches for Ducks" is currently being edited and formatted, which is a fairly tedious and long-winded process (much like me really) but I'm getting there. Hopefully should meet my proposed publication date of 1st November, provided that annoying things like work don't get in the way
;-)
If you get a spare moment, pop along to www.philwhiteland.blogspot.com to see the cover for the new book due out on Kindle on 1st November.
