Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments onion sandwich!?! that is possibly disgusting. Do you put butter on that?

message 402: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I would, yes. And a touch of salt and pepper. With a side of Scope.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I had onion on my tuna sandwich for linch.

message 404: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments garlic butter or just normal butter?

is it really just 2 slices of bread with onion in the middle? Do you cook the onion first or is it raw?

In the case of the person concerned in the article, it was raw.

message 406: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Raw. Sweet Spanish onion is nice. Normal butter. Hearty wholemeal bread. It's actually quite warming on a cold day.

Linch?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Sorry, should have been linuc!

message 408: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Of course, I can't smell the onion sandwiches or the appalling smell left in here by those parties, because I have a cold! (You may leave your condolences in the silver tray by the door on your way out)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Atchoo!!

Be grateful of the cold.

Wow. Nice window. Needs curtains.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Something funny happened to the curtains Patti...

message 417: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh yeah! 700 party!

Perhaps we should bask in the glow of the success of your and Shaun's live event this evening and have the 700 party tomorrow.

Is that okay?

message 418: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Yes that's good with me, to be honest I'm exhausted lol ! Don't trash Phil's place in my absence lol !

message 419: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Despite my terrible affliction (I have a cold. Men have colds, women have childbirth, it's nature's way of balancing things up) I still dragged myself to the Graduation Ceremony this morning. Purely so that I can honestly say that I shared a stage with Michael Parkinson ;-)

message 420: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments :) Now lemsip and an early night Philip... x

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Did you get to speak to him Philip? Or were you not important enough for that...?

Well, obviously he would be reluctant to just strike up a conversation with such a well-known author ;-)

Hmmm! Do you remember that old Stanley Holloway song "My Word You Do Look Queer"? You would never get that on the radio now, would you?

I know it used to amuse me years ago. It was a favourite on Children's Choice.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Ah but children were proper children back in those days - Hell! I'm starting to sound like my own gran!

Listen with Mother was superb. All those wonderful RP accents. I loved that song about the riding styles of various country-folk, remember that?

Ah yes, well...it was a different time you see. Men were out beating dinosaurs to death with clubs while the little woman stayed at home and raised the kiddies.

Wow I thought you were talking about something that didn't sound like of my generation, but THAT long ago !!

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments I am trying to remember philip. I was very young. The voices were very queens English weren't they.

I had gender issues with Andy Pandy too.

Took me years to unravel that business with loopy loo.

He had a rather knowing smirk on his face when he came out of that hamper. And as for that teddy bear, he knew more than he was letting on.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Well. Andy Pandy is a scary puppet, isn't he? I drew the line at downloading Torchy the battery boy and the wooden tops. Maybe I'll do Twizzle later.

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Just done a little bit of tweaking to Steady Past Your Granny'sto link it explicitly to Crutches For Ducks. Am I right in thinking that those who have already bought Steady Past Your Granny'sget a free update?

message 443: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Don't know what you mean by that Phil?

message 444: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Patti (Totally Bananas) wrote: "Don't know what you mean by that Phil?"

Ok. I may have this totally wrapped around my neck (which wouldn't be unusual). I thought I had read somewhere that, if a book was amended in any way, those who had already bought the book would be offered an update. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong.

message 445: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Ah. Right. Sometimes we get an email from amazon but usually we have to ask them for the update.

Jon Rosenberg has a thread about it in the zoo at the moment.

message 446: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Amazon will tell you that they send an email to existing buyers offering them the update. They rarely do.

message 447: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Thanks both. I thought I'd heard something about it. At least it proves I'm not going mad (yet).
