He's not my Jace either. But Rob wasn't my Edward and I came to accept it. So I will trust that the movie gods will make this work, otherwise it will be a disaster. I'm not happy with the male leads for the Hunger Games either. But who am I.
Nope, he doesn't work he looks like they're trying to make him look like grimy Robert Pattinson :( I really think Alex Pettyfer would have been the best Jace. But hopefully he can act better than Pattinson so then the movie won't be a failure :)

I'm gonna be honest and say that, while Alex Pettyfer fits the part of Jace almost perfectly, it would almost be... Distracting, having him there. It would be like looking at the movie, and instead of saying "Hey, its jace and clary," I would say "Hey, its Alex Pettyfer and Clary... Dang, he looks fiiiine."Kind of like taylor lautner and any movie that he is every in.

The looks don't matter but the acting.
Well yes it does but he does look like Jace. He has blond hair but the acting the most. I mean does the guy really have to LOOK LIKE guy whos similiar on the book cover?
i pictured Alex Pettyfer while reading The Mortal Instruments too, and i think he is the best Jace. his looks, hair, pretty face, height. but he turned it down, soo :(( then i read that Jaime Campbell Bower was chosen to be Jace, well im not that excited. its kinda disappointing really. i didnt notice him in Harry Potter, i havent seen Camelot, so i dont know if he is good. but a lot of people said that he really can act so im hoping that he will make a good Jace :) i cant hate him forever. haha. that's why i can't wait for the movie :) i hope it'll be good.

Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!! Its Twilight all over again. Edward Cullen was like the guy any girl could wish for then they get Robert Patterson to act as him ewwwwww!!! No offense to who ever this guy is he's okay in Camelot as King Arthur he just doesn't have the right look to be Jace.

YUCK! Jace is pretty much everyone's favourite character from the book. He should also be everyone's favourite character from the movie as well. I'm sorry, but he needs to be better looking than that. (I really miss Alex Pettyfer!) I think that Jamie just doesn't have that intense look that Jace is supposed to have. It's unfortunate there's nothing we can do...P.S. He needs to stop wearing eye liner and at least cut his hair so he doesn't look as feminine.

it's not really working out for me
I love Alex Pettyfer, even before reading Mortal Instruments. Jace is suppose to be extremely good looking & arrogant. That's Alex in a nutshell. Some people said he can't act (he CAN! :L ) even if he can't act it's okay because he's kinda like that in real life :L That's why he's so damn attractive!

Thanks I know it's hard to let go of the visions in our heads, but I am willing to trust Clare and give it a shot. I like Pettyfer for it as well, But hey, he said no, and that probably best he is a bit to old for the part.

I couldn't agree more. However, we as the readers have to trust in Cassie because she is the one who chose Jamie as Jace and she knows her characters a bit more than we do. Believe me, I was so upset when Alex turned down the part. I mean, he had a shot and didn't want it. So screw him!!! Though as I read these books over and over (and I do because this is my absolute favorite series ever), I still picture Alex while reading Jace's parts. :(
Let's just hope JCB blows us away with his performance as Jace. Otherwise, it will be ruined for me forever!!

Very true!! This is my favorite series as well and I want to see this as a huge success, like Harry Potter huge! Cassandra Clare is an amazing author and deserves the recognition for creating this incredible world for us! Now if only they could finish casting everybody and start making the movie already! I'm dying here!I didn't really like the Twilight books, mostly because I saw the movies before I read them except Breaking Dawn. So I just hope this doesn't turn into Twilight. I would be devastated!

no WAY thats jace. ewwww its just not how i picture him. i didnt really picture jamie campbell as jace either.the first time i saw him, i was like he looks like a female pirate...but i realize that alex pettyfer didnt even want the job (*sadness*) and that jamie campbell is probably a great actor and will do a great job on the movie.
even if he doesnt have a british accent.
now i have to find some way to tell my friend clairie that alex pettyfer wasn't going to say "i love you clary" to her...
but thats not such a great pic of him anyway. we shouldnt judge pre-movie i think.
Just because this is who has been picked for Jace does not mean you have to change the image you have of Jace inside your own head! Grow up people we all have different images in our minds and that doesn't have to change just because someone with different looks was chosen. And I think I trust Cassie and she said Jamie was her ultimate choice, and she's the author of the books..catch my drift?
