You make a good point about Mircea. I think he's one of those people who could make you believe that you heard something that you didn't actually hear. What I mean is, you might think he promised to help you with something, but he didn't actually say those words, though he let you walk away with the impression that he was on your side. And when things blow up in your face at some point down the road, he'd remind you of his exact words and blame you for misinterpreting them. Get everything in writing when dealing with the sneaky Chief Negotiator folks, that's my advice LMAO!
I think an interesting person to just sit and have a chat with would be Marco. He's pretty ancient, so he's seen a lot, but he seems like a decent guy and relatively honest and direct for a vampire. I think you could have a good chinwag over a few beers.

I wonder how much co-operation or sharing of information there was between the vamps and Pritkin. After all, Pritkin is supposed to be her official bodyguard, though I don't think the vamps much like that fact. Cynical old me wouldn't put it past the vamps to keep Pritkin somewhat in the dark, even though that might not be the safest thing to do, but anything that gives them more control over the Pythia is a good thing from their point of view, right? Marco is a good guy, and genuinely seems to want the best for Cassie, but ultimately, he belongs to Mircea and will do whatever Mircea tells him, and if that means lying to Cassie, so be it!
I'm so schizophrenic about the vamps in KC's books. I love the characters, but I totally do not trust them and never take them at face value. They've always got a deeper motive.

I agree that bit at the end of Hunt the Moon was awesome. The way Marco summed it up, saying something like "You showed up naked and made out with the mage" (can't remember exact words) made me laugh out loud when I read it.
That scene was interesting for Cassie & Mircea's ongoing relationship, especially as we just know Cassie's going to be doing everything possible to get Pritkin back in the next book. It's hard not to think of relationships in regular old human terms, and KC has stated several times that vamps view sexual relationships as just another tool to leverage for power, but you can't help wondering what Mircea really feels about Pritkin.
Mircea can be possessive toward Cassie, though whether it's truly because of love for her, or just the desire to control her (personally, I think a bit of both). It's well known in the vamp community that Mircea and Cassie have a relationship, yet there she was on the night of her coronation, in front of everyone who's anyone in the supernatural world, rolling around butt naked with a mage!! If you were Mircea, wouldn't you feel just a little bit humiliated by this? If he does genuinely love her, surely he would be hurt that she was being so intimate with Pritkin? And I wonder if he loses some standing with the other members of the community because his tame Pythia isn't so tame after all. But, then, since the other vamps all signed up for the war, maybe it wasn't that big a deal to them, but I think if I were Mircea, it would be a big deal to me on a personal level.
I can't wait for the next book!! :D

That's a good point about Cassie's thoughts in the first book. I love it when authors include little throwaway comments that five books later turn out to mean something.
I imagine Cassie going to negotiate with Rosier and he'll want something from her, so she'll spend the next book running around trying to get whatever that is. Then at the end of the book, Rosier sets Pritkin free, with no restrictions on his manbits. They leave hell and Cassie shifts to Dante's, but before she can catch her breath, Pritkin's got her slammed up against the wall, with his, em, dirty sexy war mage lovebeam, pumped and ready for action!! Fill in the rest of the details from your naughty imaginations LOL! :)

Cassie too so I can size her up and tell her, "Hang in there."

I think there would be a lot of exercise involved in hanging out with Pritkin all day. And tofu. And probably wheatgrass juice (now that I know the existence of such a thing!) Gimme Red Bull and Indian takeaway every time!

Oh dear God I second that. I think we can pretty much guess most of it on both sides, but I want to know! Maybe Shadowland and/or Masks will give us a little bit of insight? I do recall Pritkin calling Mircea "that fool of a vampire" in 'A Family Affair'. It made me smile ^_^ But truthfully, much as I want to find out, I'm a little glad KC hasn't brought it up. I swear jealousy seem to miraculously erase all other aspects of a guy's personality in books. And it's nice that Pritkin and Mircea hate each other naturally too, instead of just because of Cassie ;D
"I think there would be a lot of exercise involved in hanging out with Pritkin all day. And tofu. And probably wheatgrass juice."
Ah, yes, not that you mention that, I think leaving before lunch might be a very good plan. I love Pritkin and all, but I love chocolate too... I didn't have a clue what wheatgrass juice was either, so I just googled it. It looks...um...lovely. Okay, no, not even for Pritkin would I drink that. Grass in not meant to be edible.

I agree with your point about jealousy in a love triangle taking over and becoming the story. Mircea as a vamp and Pritkin as a mage are already on opposite sides. OK, I know officially the Circle and the Senate are allies, but they don't really like each other, so snide comments work in well!
About Masks, this came up in a conversation the other day, but do we know if this story will be told from Cassie's POV or Mircea's? I'd kinda assumed Cassie, but I don't know if that's right. Anyone have any ideas?
LOL, yeah Pritkin is too much of a health nut for me! I googled Wheatgrass Juice too, and one of the articles to come up was entitled "The Wheatgrass and Mould Debate". Um, sorry, but no. Just no!
If I were having a day out with Marlowe, the only exercise involved would be horizontal. And there would be champagne and chocolate too! :D

But back to Cassie. I really do love how it was established nice and early in TtD how much Mircea and Pritkin despise each other naturally. It makes me just love the drama whenever they're in the room together. The snide comments are so amusing. And Christ, that scene in CtD when Mircea drags Pritkin off when he's stuck in Cassie's body is just pure genius! I think it's in my top 5.
I'm pretty sure that KC mentioned at some point that Masks is going to be written in Mircea's POV - a fact that makes me very, very happy. I can't wait to get a peak inside his head! Pity it won't come out for so long.
And mould?!?! Dear God. Poor Cassie! I think we might have to take pity on her and burn Pritkin's whole supply of wheatgrass juice next time we break in to Pritkin's rooms. We can grab some of his weapons and potions whilst we're there. And install cameras. Preferably in the shower room ;P
Oooh, have fun with Marlowe! Champagne, chocolate, horizontal - yep, that sounds pretty damn good to me! But don't worry, I won't encroach on your territory. He's all yours ;D

That scene you're talking about in CtD is hilarious! Mircea grabs Cassie (but really Pritkin) to either give her a smooch or a severe talking to, and Marlowe tries to distract Pritkin (really Cassie) with booze. If I were Cassie hiding in Pritkin's body, I'd have started talking about myself to see if I could find out what the vamps really thought about me LOL!
That would be so great if Masks is from Mircea's POV! I can't wait to hear this story. On this subject, in KC's Q & A #27, she says this:
Q. How long lived Dory and Mircea together? You left a hint in Hunt the Moon, that Dory was with Mircea, when they escaped from Italy (and meet Tony)...
A. You find out more about Dory and Mircea’s early relationship in Fury’s Kiss, so I don’t want to say too much and spoil things. But I think it’s safe to comment that they were together for longer than she knows. A lot longer.

Since Masks is supposed to be set in Venice, it sounds like it might cover some of the same time period. Do you think this might be some of the reason for the delay in publishing this story? Do you think (and please god I hope not!!) that we might need to wait until after Fury's Kiss is out before she releases Masks?

I second that desire to know what the vamps recall think of Cassie, but somehow I doubt they'd be telling it to Pritkin. I think I've mentioned this before, but I really want Cassie to lend Billy a bit of energy and send him off to spy and Mircea and/or Marlowe, to find out about some of what I'm sure is a very long list of what they've been hiding from her. Those two just have too many secrets.
You know, I think you're right - Mircea hiding so much of Dory's past is a big enough plot point that it'll probably be covered in the next Dory book, not a short. So I don't reckon we'll see Masks until after Fury's Kiss has come out. Ahh, well. At least we should have Shadowland to keep us content until then.

It's a shame we don't see more of Billy Joe, cos he's a really useful ally. But I suppose with all the running around Cassie does, she doesn't have as much time for him. I'd totally set him to follow Mircea and promise him that for every decent bit of info he brought back, he could possess my body for a night on the town! (Though maybe with a few restrictions in place, cos BJ's a bit of a lad!!)
Man, Mircea's going to be in so much trouble for repressing MORE of Dory's memories. What the hell's his excuse this time?? Maybe Dory had a fling with Tony! Hell, I'd want to repress that LMAO!!
So what do we all think might have happened in Venice that Dory isn't to know about? Any ideas anyone?

You're right, I wish Billy Joe was around more too. He's around occasionally, but I wish he was a bit more useful when he was around. He was so useful in the first three books, but he didn't really do much to help Cassie in the last couple. Well, he did help out in the beginning of this book when Cassie was being possessed, but after that he pretty much disappeared, only showing up once to chat. I miss more how he was in EtN, when his friendship with Cassie was developing and he said he didn't need to take a draw from her. I loved that aspect of Billy!
But yes, I think you've got the right idea giving Billy Joe restrictions there. I think Mircea's ging to be unhappy enough with Cassie making out with Pritkin on his lawn (yay!) - imagine his reaction if she ended up making out with another girl, or going to a strip club, or something!
I really don't know what possible excuse Mircea has this time for stealing Dory's memories. Maybe something went wrong in their relationship, and Dory ended up hating him, so he thought he'd erase her memories and start over? Okay, no, I have no clue.
AHHH! Why did you have to give me a mental image of Dory with Tony?!?! Bad Lannister. Christ, that's almost as scarring as in CbS when Cassie imagines casting the rune Jerra and just making the fat man horny!

I want to meet Mircea for the history that he's lived but also to be nosy about how he really feels about cassie or is it just Vamp possesiveness. I want to meet cassie to be nosy and find out how she feels about M and P. Pritkin just for nosiness, and Cassanova just because. I think I need to reread the series though (when work allows!)

and Louis Cesar because he's cute and also really hot. <3 (Dory series made me a fan.)
I would say Pritkin, but somehow I think he'd just be disappointing. And grumpy. He'd probably just brush me off and continue on his way to kill something. :\ I really doubt he'd hang around me w/o some sort of bodyguard contract. lol I mean the whole incubus thing has really kept him off the market, hasn't it?
As for the girls, I rather meet Dory, I think. She's at least been shown to have female friends.... right? *squints really hard* Ah, I can't remember. I haven't read any of these in such a long time. I'm ashamed.

I think KC actually made a comment on one of the Q & As about Billy Joe. She said he's still in the books about the same amount as he was before, but the books are getting longer and longer, so it just seems like less. Maybe that's true, but I still miss him, the loveable rogue that he is!
The more I actually think about Mircea wiping Dory's memories, the more angry I get with him. Yeah, I know I should wait until I've read the story, but why let facts get in the way of some righteous indignation LOL! If he erased her memories just to make Dory forget about a fight they had (even if it was the mother of all fights), that is just so wrong! How dare he deprive her of memories of her life like that. Right now, I cannot think of any good explanation to cover why he would take away a significant chunk of her life. Grrr Mircea! *shakes fist*
LOL, sorry for mentally scarring you with the thought of Dory and Tony. I'm a bit horrified myself!! :)

I agree about Mircea. I want the history and what he really thinks too. I don't think we know the half of what goes on in that devious mind of his! I think Casanova might be fun to hang out and party with. I think you'd always pull when you were out with him too LOL!
Anna, Oh yeah, agree completely about Marlowe! We'll get Cassie to take us back to Elizabethan England and go hang out with Marlowe while he was still alive. I'm obsessed with his life and all the mysteries about him. He was truly a rockstar of the Elizabethan era!
Sara, Still lusting after Rosier, eh! You can't beat a bad boy! :)
I liked Louis Cesare from the first Cassie book (especially that scene in the bedroom in Carcassone) but the Dory books convinced me on him. He's just luscious and my second favourite hottie in the series. Dory lived with Claire and they were really close friends, almost like sisters, so Dory's not a total social outcast who tries to kill everyone she meets. Just most of them LOL!

If you could meet any character in this series who would you choose and why??
What kind of ques..."
I would personally love to met Devine and she her/him in the shoes that he got from Cassie
I would love to meet Pritkin on a hot a sweatly night.
I would love to just stare a Mircea standing in the shower and half crazy ( as he was when he has that spell on him and he was losing his mine. ) *** dreaming***
I would love to just chilll with Cassie at a night club with her Dark brackets to stab anyone in there who steps on my stoes. I love cassie . i would love if she showed me how to shift.

I'd want to help Marlowe run his intelligence network. I'll be his computer geek and I'll break into computer systems and steal all their data. Then we can sit up late exchanging ... information. (Get your minds out of the gutter LOL!)

I cant help myself ***(looking like and angel with horns) ***

;)

I cant say our minds are in the gutter.. Just active and very creative.. bhahahaha

Hmm. No, only regular cream. I suppose I could whip that, but it's not the same. Clotted cream is an essential part of cream tea :'( Lannister, you got any?

How civilized we are in this discussion thread! Not like the filthy minds that lurk in other threads!! ;)

Because i am wondering who are we eating and drinking tea off of. lololol..Sorry i really tried

And Marlowe too.... though I'd need a couple of hours to try and navigate the maze which is his AWESOME mind!
I'd need more than a few hours with Pritkin though... (wiggles eyebrows) :-)

I think there's a bit of a queue for Pritkin right now, so we'll just sneak off and go cause a bit of havoc with Marlowe. I'm game if you are! :D

Thanks! I'm definitely game. Causing mischief with Marlowe sounds right up my alley.

And OH MY GOD!!!
For anyone who doesn't now yet, Fury's Kiss cover is finally out, and we have a release date! 2nd of October, 2012!!! And the first two chapters are up to read online *runs off to read them*
