Sounds great, I just pulled out my copy of True Colors and Darkfever too, so I am ready for June to start. Sorry I gave you a couple that you have already read, but glad you could find some out of the rest to read.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Oh, I ordered Sweet Surrender by Maya banks, Laid Bare by Lauren Dane, Stranger by Megan Hart, and Northern Exposure by Mari Carr and Jayne Rylon. All of them are being shipped through inter-library loan. So whatever gets here first will be read. Probably at least one of the others as well.

Jane (PS) | 24358 comments Hi Penney - I've now sorted out my reading for June :) I am definitely going to read Archangel's Consort (this is my official pick for this challenge), but I also have Passion, Warprize, and Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal on my 'TBR as soon as I can fit them in' list. (I couldn't get them to fit the other categories once I had my absolute 'musts' in the list.)

I won't join you in the BuddyRead options (I read Loving Lies pretty recently) but I would love to know what you think of A Discovery of Witches - it sounds really good.

message 306: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments Jane - if you can get a hold of it, I highly recommend (and I don't know if you do them) audiobooks for Christopher Moore's stuff - biff was hilarious

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Hi Jane :)
I'm staring at A Discovery of Witches right now waiting anxiously to start. I'll let you know how it goes. You've made some very good choices, Archangel's Consort would probably have been my first pick too, but the others rank pretty high up there as well. Enjoy!

p.s. Be warned, you'll want to continue with the Warprize trilogy as soon as you put it down. At least I did :)

Hi Kate!
It looks like I'm starting off this month a little ahead of schedule, but that's only because your first rec was so good I couldn't put it down.

Something About You was a really great story. Right up my aisle on plot type and telling. Thanks for poking me in the right direction.

Hey guys, if you're going to be doing a buddy read and decided to start a thread at http://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_... (which I really encourage you to do), can you please put that it's for the JUNE PIFM Challenge in the first message or the thread title. That way I'll spot it and collate a list of our Buddy Read threads in message 5 for easy reference.

LOL - that is the one I have! I received it yesterday in audiobook format. I couldn't get it from a library so I took the plunge and bought it - glad to hear it is so good. No doubt I'll be passing it on to my family to listen to as well. :)

I have had quite a time picking out books for you! So on a few of my recs I have given you more than one option… Sorry I know it’s hard enough to decide on one without adding extras but I just could not choose!

From Their TBR Shelves
1 - Pick a book that makes you feel intrigued (by the storyline/cover whatever you choose)
The Trouble With Magic This one sounds fun!

2 - Pick a book with a cover that makes you laugh or feel happy
The Last Male Virgin this cover is great! I have not read anything by this author but it looks fun!
3 - Pick a book that makes you envious that it's on their shelves.
Lover Eternal I say this book for envious because I loved this series! And if I could go back and read it without knowing how it all turns out I would!
Dark Protector this one I chose only because I can always use a half naked man on my shelf!

From Your Read Shelves
4 - Pick the last book that made you feel so good you rated it 5 stars
Eternal Rider I have not yet read anything by Larissa Ione that I didn’t really like!

5 - List the book you would curl up with on a stormy night
Depending on the mood I am in I might choose Velocity it is really good although not really romance, it is pretty edge of your seat… fun if like me you love thunderstorms.
Although sometimes I need to cuddle up with a good lovey dovey romance when the weather is stormy… so for that I would go with Just the Way You Are Loved this book!

6 - List the book you pick up when you most need a pick-me-up or a laugh
A Quick Bite or really any book by Lynsay Sands
Also almost anything by Katie MacAlister is a good pick me up, my fave is You Slay Me

Buddy Reads
7 - Pick the next book you want to read from your TBR shelf
Invincible this is the one I am going to pick up as soon as things quiet down around my house for more than 5 minutes! Although I might also read Absolute Pleasure as a little dose of historical before another paranormal…

8 - Pick the book from their TBR shelf that you are seriously considering adding to yours.
My Gosh There are so many to choose from! I am not really sure where to start but for the sake of the challenge I will go with X-Rated Bloodsuckers

I hope you find something you want to read I look forward to seeing what you pick!

The Trouble With Magic (A Bewitching Mystery, #1) by Madelyn Alt The Last Male Virgin by Katherine Deauxville Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2) by J.R. Ward Dark Protector (Paladins of Darkness, #1) by Alexis Morgan Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #1) by Larissa Ione Velocity by Dean Koontz Just the Way You Are (Lost Texas Heart Trilogy, Book #1) by Christina Dodd A Quick Bite (Argeneau, #1) by Lynsay Sands You Slay Me (Aisling Grey Guardian, #1) by Katie MacAlister Invincible (Chronicles of Nick #2) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Absolute Pleasure by Cheryl Holt X-Rated Bloodsuckers (Felix Gomez, #2) by Mario Acevedo

AlbertaJenn | 0 comments Sorry, Mandy, that you had to wait so long. Had a very busy weekend.

From Their TBR Shelves
1 - Pick a book that makes you feel intrigued (by the storyline/cover whatever you choose) - Sex with Kings: 500 Years of Adultery, Power, Rivalry, and Revenge by Eleanor Herman I am a history buff, and this sounds like an interesting read.
2 - Pick a book with a cover that makes you laugh or feel happy - HELP! A Bear is Eating Me! by Mykle Hansen How could this title and cover not make you laugh?
3 - Pick a book that makes you envious that it's on their shelves - Riding the Storm by Sydney Croft Love Larissa Ione, and I have been eyeing this series for a while.

From Your Read Shelves
4 - Pick the last book that made you feel so good you rated it 5 stars - One Little Sin by Liz Carlyle This is my first book by Carlyle. I could not put it down, and read the next two immediately after.
5 - List the book you would curl up with on a stormy night - Moon Called by Patricia Briggs A favourite urban fantasy series. Love the main character, and the supporting cast is cool.
6 - List the book you pick up when you most need a pick-me-up or a laugh - The Day the World Came to Town: 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland by Jim DeFede I recommend this a lot on PIFM. It usually makes me cry, but it also restores my faith in humanity.

Buddy Reads
7 - Pick the next book you want to read from your TBR shelf - Blood Song by Cat Adams Has been on my TBR shelf for a while. And it is one of the few books on my TBR that is the first in a series
8 - Pick the book from their TBR shelf that you are seriously considering adding to yours. Surrender by Pamela Clare Heard so many great things about this author, and this series sounds like it might be a keeper.

Tania | 644 comments FINISHED LIST (up to message 340)

1. Tania - Slave to Sensation

Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling #1) by Nalini Singh

message 329: by Tania (new)

Tania | 644 comments Okay, so I devoured Slave to Sensation last night and LOVED it. Went and got the next one and am reading it in study breaks today. Jim's halfway through... but he has a life so that's understandable :)

There's a Dare you to Read thread set up for it so if you have it on your tbr list this month come on over at any stage of the month and discuss it.

(and yes, I'm aware of the fact that I'm a stupidly fast reader - if only I had more time to read imagine how many books I could get through)

taita For Roxy - Thanks for your patience! Hope you enjoy my picks. Happy Reading!

From Their TBR Shelves
1 - Book that makes you feel intrigued:

4 - Last book that made you feel so good you rated it 5 stars:
Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake Amazing read! Cheesy cover but nicely done. No wonder it's on the RITA Finalists list!

5 - Book you would curl up with on a stormy night:
A Kingdom of Dreams Grown-up fairy tale material. One of my favorites!

6 - Book when you most need a pick-me-up or a laugh:
The Bride This book cracks me up. I literally snicker when I read it. People think I'm crazy.

7 - Book you want to read from your TBR shelf:
Devil of the Highlands I take it you are also doing the FAC June Challenge? I see you're reading it already. I plan on reading this book too!

message 332: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2803 comments Vaughn's book is not my favorite but I'd love to know what you think of #3 - Caressed By Ice if you do plan to read it soon. But then, you should try to take the series slow since the next book is coming out only next year. Otherwise its the waiting game. I finished Kiss of Snow yesterday (stayed up late) and I wanted the next book immediately. 2012 seems pretty far away right now.

Caressed by Ice was EXCELLENT I think I preferred it to the first two. You got a real sense of what stopping living under the Silence does to a person. Can I just skip ahead to Hawke's book? What number is that? And is Kaleb the Ghost? Ooooohhhh... I LOVE/HATE/LOVE finding new series...

message 334: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments no you can't skip ahead!!! lol! I think 4 was the weakest for me, and then 7, but they are both important in the overall story line - Hawk is 10...i'm trying to savor it right now, and its hard...lol

Totally agree! I hated the heroine of #4 so I'm not fond of the book, but it is important in that it really reveals the extend of the conflict among the species and sets up further plots.

I want to wait to read Hawke's book (haven't even bought it yet).

Vi | 2803 comments Hi Melanie,

OK, Wow on such a massiiive TBR. And thanks for waiting patiently for me to put up the list. After going through the time-suck that is your TBR, I managed to find some books to recommend before I go back for seconds. I hope you like my picks and manage to find something to read. If not, I'll be happy to redo the picks.

From Your TBR Shelf

1. Books that Intrigued Me

1. The Chosen One - I *love* the cover and the synopsis makes it sound even more interesting.
2. Paranormalcy - The cover is intriguing. Even though the synopsis seems to make it like a yet another YA Paranormal, I'd like to give this a try.

2. Books that Made me Laugh

1. Madame Tussaud: A Novel of the French Revolution - It's a beautiful cover and I smiled when I looked at the model. The cover just is so cheerful
2. The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf - Look at the cartoonish cover. It screams comedy. And with Molly Harper, you know you will laugh when reading the book.

3. Books I'm Envious Of

1. The Peach Keeper - I keep hearing superb reviews of Sarah Addison Allen and I love this cover (I'm shallow in case you hadn't figured that out yet). I mean to try her one day and I just might.
2. If I Stay - Ok, I'm getting my hand on this book somehow. It looks like it has got all this angst and I love angst. Great pick Melanie :)

4. From My Read Shelves

Last Loved Reads

1. Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh. I just love Nalini Singh. When the latest came out, I just lapped it up. I see you have read the first book and rated it 4 stars. Why not continue the series? You definitely won't regret it!
2. The Passions of Emma by Penelope Williams - I just did a re-read of this book. This is my favorite of Penelope Williams. It has a strong female lead (Emma) and a beautiful friendship between Emma and Brie (another lead) which remains the focal point for half the book.

5. Books on Stormy Nights
OK, so I don't read much differently on stormy nights as compared to normal ones but stormy nights remind me of intense, emotional books.

1. Paradise by Judith McNaught. My favorite contemporary of McNaught's. I see this on your TBR too. You should pick it up.
2. The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley. This was a recent read but I fell in love with the book. It has two love stories intertwined and you will be at the edge of the seat as you keep on reading.

6. Pick-Me-Up book

1. Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie. I notice you have read other books by Crusie. I'm not sure if you have read this book or not but if you haven't, then you should do so. Its damn funny and you'll end up loving Min at the end of it.
2. Bound by Your Touch by Meredith Duran. I've stopped reading HR for the most part except for some authors but even now, this book ranks highly in my list. I loved the interactions of Lydia and James over the book as they discover each other and fall in love.

Buddy Reads

7. From My TBR Shelf

I'm doing a buddy read of Kiss of Fire by Deborah Cooke with Sarah (Pss, a dragon shifter). You're welcome to join us (the more the merrier). Also, I'm planning to read Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison this month (yep, another dragon shifter novel).

8. From Your TBR Shelf

Apart from the books I am envious of, I'm adding the Star of the Morning - a fantasy romance - yeah, I so want it. Also, I'm adding The Crystal Cave, Arthurian fantasy. I'd love to buddy read either of them with you. And I *think* I have the Mary Stewart book. I gotta go dig to find out though.

Whew, that's it from me. Hope you find something good to read. Happy Reading Melanie.

Thanks Taita! I am reading Devil of the Highlands for the FAC June challenge. I like Julie Garwood so Iam adding The Bride and Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake.

Melanie (melaina) | 1339 comments Vi, thank you so much for my recs!!! They're great!:-D

I have on my TBR (or have ordered) The Chosen One, Paranormalcy, If I Stay, Bound by Your Touch, Kiss of Fire and The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf.. I definitely want to read those last two, and I'll let you know for the buddy read? I also will be reading the first in the Psy-Changeling series (I try to read the books in order, lol), Slave to Sensation...

I have however read, and loved, Bet Me: loved it, like I did all of JC's other books!

I'm still looking for The Peach Keeper (btw, you should definitely read her other books.. they're amazing!) and Madame Tussaud though! And I added your other recs to my TBR!

It is a pleasure to pick for you!! Here are your recs...hope you find something you like! Happy Reading!

Your TBR:
1. India Black-Loved the cover and the story looks good too!
2. The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf-this cover made me smile! It looks like a cute book!
3. Lover Unleashed-although I also have it on my TBR, I am envious that you read the previous books...I am still starting the series!!

My Read:
4. Highlander Ever After-this was the last book I liked A LOT! But it is the 3rd in the series so I would start with Penelope & Prince Charming then The Mad, Bad Duke. These books are HR but have PR in them also!!
5. Safe Haven- I can curl up with any book...but this one is pretty good!
6. He Loves Lucy-this one had funny parts and it is a great pick me up story!!

Buddy Reads:
7. Trace of Fever-this is the 2nd book in the trilogy...first one When You Dare was really good!
8. Pride and Pleasure-definitely adding this to my TBR! Hopefully my library has it!!

Your tbr shelf is massive! But I did have lots of fun looking through it. So many more books to add to my own tbr pile! I hope you find something you like from my list, but if not, I ..."

hey fran! thank you so much for the picks :) i do read a lot of m/m, but i still love m/f...i just don't have a handle on where to go and what to read for those. back in the day i used to only read historical romances so i'm really out of depth with the contemporary. anyway, all of those rec's have joined my tbr shelf and for this month i'm going with Lover Unbound, yay!
