Brenda Klaassen (librarymom23) I started last night, The Look of Love: A Piper Donovan Mystery. I was in the mood for a mystery.

Rayna (Poindextrix) (poindextrix) | 73 comments I'm currently reading We, the Drowned, Kafka on the Shore, and Our Mutual Friend.

I kind of want to read Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close again before I go see the movie, but I have a feeling that I'll have an incredibly difficult time getting my hands on a library copy right now.

I also want to re-read the Hunger Games trilogy before the movie comes out next month (I'm so excited).

I understand the Kindle obsession. I'm finding I love my Kindle almost more than paper books. I enjoy letting it read to me while I cook or clean. 8=)

Rayna, how is We, the Drowned? I just got a copy of that for christmas and think it sounds amazing!

I am reading Spaceman Blues: A Love Song, started it yesterday and I have a little less than 60 pages to go... it was really strange and slow to start but it's finally started to pick up. I had no idea where the darn thing was going at first....

I am also still (yes still) listening to the audio for Couch - the reason this is taking forever is because it's on my phone, and I only listen to it in my car through the av in/out.. so if I dont have the car on my way to work, i dont get to listen it :(

Rayna (Poindextrix) (poindextrix) | 73 comments Lori, We, the Drowned is taking me a while since I've been reading it on and off, but I like it. There are a few bits where I find the identity of the narrator confusing, but it might be a fluke of the translation? It's still pretty good though. I'll let you know about my thoughts when I finish it.

Can anyone recommend any good books about the Kennedy assassination? I've decided I want to read 11/22/63, but I feel like I should learn more about what actually happened before I read a "what if" book.

message 26461: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Finished Murder by Mocha Murder by Mocha (Coffeehouse Mystery, #10) by Cleo Coyle and Tripwire Tripwire (Jack Reacher, #3) by Lee Child . Started The Tin Roof Blowdown The Tin Roof Blowdown (Dave Robicheaux, #16) by James Lee Burke , Die Trying Die Trying (Jack Reacher, #2) by Lee Child and Death At Wentwater Court Death At Wentwater Court (Daisy Dalrymple, #1) by Carola Dunn along with the other four I'm working on.

The Red Queen The Red Queen (The Cousins' War, #2) by Philippa Gregory is getting better. Now, bearing in mind that my exposure to what historians call "primary sources" is ZERO, I'm wondering if the sort of feminist interior reactions the main character is having about being parceled off to husband after husband without her consent would actually have occurred, or if they are a way to ensure the modern audience can identify with her and respect her.

Chad | 22 comments I'm reading The Borrower. Last 80 pages or so, and though I am simpatico with the authors political views to a certain extent, I am curious to see how or if she redeems her narrator or if she lets her off the hook. Trying to read 2011 books that got some press last year. This is better than avg. but not amazing. This is mostly because I feel like the author's moral and political views are the main reason for this plot. I do like all the chapter names and literary illusions since the main character is a librarian. That is what drew me in the first place.

message 26466: by Lis (new)

Wow guys, I am reading The Avian Gospels and it is really good. It's about a city that is living under a plague of birds, and a father and son who can control them... Loving it so far.

Also listening to the AudioGo version of The Terrible Privacy of Maxwell Sim - its sad but also kinda funny at the same time. Really liking this one!

The first part of the book is hard to get into but once you get there it is worth it! The second book in my opinion was the best. Honestly stick with them they are very good reads.
