I'm currently reading A Storm of Swords by George R. R. Martin.
i finished The Forgotten Garden from Kate Morton this evening. i really, really enjoyed this story, it was well told and engrossing.not sure what i'll be picking up next, i have a few to choose from.

I'm enjoying both although quite different. I can't seem to put down The Face on the Milk Carton. I have a feeling I'll finish it today.
One nice thing about Tolstoy and the Purple Chair: My Year of Magical Reading is the author lists all the books she read over the year. It's her personal journey/tribute to her late sister. They came from a family of readers and this is how she feels she can honor her sister.
So school is finally out and I never have to go back again!!! Finally got my MLIS! AND I finally started The Hunger Games!!! I have plenty of reading time...sorta
i am almost done reading "IN THE NAME OF SALOME" BY JULIA ALVAREZ.The story is interesting but not engrossing.
Finished a wonderful book about John Adams and a not my kind of book The Catcher in the Rye. Now into a fast going story called The Shakespeare Curse.

Just finished The Interruption of Everything and almost done with The Red Queen I'm hoping to finish it this weekend, and then start a new one...or maybe keep on working on War and Peace, which has been on the "currently reading" list for over a year now, it's time to be finished with it already!

I finished three books I've been working on-- Franklin and Winston
, In the Shadow of the Crown
and Spinning into Butter: A Play
. "Franklin" was wonderful. "Shadow" was good in the beginning and then. Just. Got. Tedious. I was glad to see the end of it. "Spinning" was both good and disappointing-- it's about racism and she seems to get close to an a-ha moment without actually reaching it completely. But then, that may well be part of her point.

Tolstoy and the Purple Chair: My Year of Magical Reading is very different but since I have lost both of my parents I understand how everyone needs to deal with grief in their own way. I certainly understand throwing yourself into your life and finally realizing that you're not dealing with your feelings, only your life. So far I am enjoying the book but there are some parts that make me sad because they remind me of myself. Oh boy, do I sound down...I'm not. It actually makes me feel good to know that everyone feels things like grief in their own way.
Just got back from a week at the beach; my beach book was Tell No One. It was one of the best books I've read in a long time- full of twists and turns, and for once I didn't guess the surprise on the last page. I also tried to read March, but just couldn't get into it, although my dad enjoyed it. Next up is The Confession.
Finished Mistress of the Art of Death and now 100 pages into The Pillars of the Earth which I am loving. It's for a read-a-long and I know I should put it down so I don't get too far ahead but it's hard!Going to go start Skippy Dies now which should keep me away from temptation.
^^ Pillars of the Earth is AMAZING. One of my favorites.I just finished reading a novella, Daphne and the Silver Ash and I'm back reading, Dominance: A Novel.

I started out as a fan of the show and soon found the books. I enjoyed the first few but HATED the rest of the series. It was definately a shame because the story and characters are very very good.
^^ I've read the first and second book. I loved the first one but the second one fell kinda short. Idk, I like the tv show better. *shrugs*
I finished Relic last night. I really enjoyed it. I feel that it got a little bogged down toward the end but a good read none the less.Now I'm going to finish Dekker's Circle Trilogy but reading White.

The Shakespeare Curse was so good. I was ill the last five days and had to read in mini blocks but still I flew through this one in two days. I was addicted from the start.Next one: Casa Agnelli. Storie e personaggi dell'ultima dinastia italiana

I just finished Husband and Wife by Leah Stewart ! I enjoyed it but probably wouldn't recommend it. I am now starting The Marrowbone Marble Company by M. Glenn Taylor ! I am loving it so far! I won it through the first reads program!
Mom was reading The Confession, so I had to hold off on it. In the meantime, I read Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. This was an amazing book- quiet, unassuming, & touching. It turned out exactly the way I wanted it to- so satisfying!
Summer vacation has given me lots of time to read, so I've recently finished quite a few things. Here are some of the most interesting:Last week, I finished The Color Purple by Alice Walker, which was absolutely incredible. I was surprised at how thoroughly readable and enjoyable it was. It deals with some tough subjects, but it never loses its tenderness or hope. And it never feels trite or pedantic either. It's just a wonderful novel, and I cannot recommend it enough.
Last night I finished Her Smoke Rose Up Forever, which is an incredibly interesting short-story anthology. The writing was excellent, but there I would recommend reading the book a story at a time rather than all at once like I tried to do. It's a little too heavy for that. I'm not sure that I liked the ideas in all of these stories, but I have rarely read a collection of stories with such consistently excellent craftsmanship.
Just a few minutes ago I finished Like Water for Chocolate. I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I loved the writing style and the magical realism. I also loved the way the recipes were incorporated right into the story. I'm not really sure I like some of the things that happened in the book. Some of the events and attitudes didn't really sit well with me. But other than that uncomfortableness, I'd say it's a fun and well written book, especially if you like folk tales, food, and true love.
Up next, I'm going to be reading The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, The Virgin in the Garden by A.S. Byatt, and Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. I'm also looking forward to reading Ain't I a Woman: Black Women and Feminism with the feminist reading group I co-moderate.

I started Never Let Me Go the other day. I love the writing, and there's a sort of palpable gloom surrounding the story, even in the first few pages. I like it so far.

I had heard so many great things about it that I was so excited to read. However, I ended up just thinking the book was okay. I wasn't crazy about the main character Hannah and felt it was a little disjointed. Really interesting idea though. : )

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that didn't really care for this one. I read it a while back expecting to really like it. I was disapppoited.

I got my copy of "Doc" and am anxious to start it but have a couple to read in front of it. I'm hearing very good things about this book.
