I just finished In the Last Analysis
and it's one of the best mysteries I've read in a long time-- intelligent, and without the common flaw of explanations for events that either are too flimsy to ring true or too obvious. Nice book!
I just started
and it has an incredibly eerie feeling to it. I am definitely sucked in and am flying through it!
I have finished reading, Crunch Time, will post the review later today. I am reading the YA title, The Emerald Atlas.
I'm currenlty half way thru Madame Tussaud: A Novel of the French Revolution as well as World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War and so far I really like them both.
I just started The Gates by John Connolly ! Loving it so far! I fell in love with The Book of Lost Things and I can only hope this one will measure up! So far, so wonderful though!
I started The Lost Symboland I think that whatever you think about the story or if you give value to it or not, he writes in a way you get so into it.
Shaking the dust off myself after a long semester of assigned college readings, and finally reading for MYSELF! I've chosen Middlesex for my first book of the summer... I'm only 21 pages in, and it's not boring me at all. Strange for a book to be interesting from the very beginning.
Just finished The Long Song. I love historical novels and enjoyed this one. (I've added her other book The Small Island to my to-read list.)
Hi,I just started reading " He liked tuesdays best" polish bestseller The story of everyday life of John Paul II.
I think this could be interesting story because is wrote by his best friend and long associate Archbishop Mieczysław Mokrzycki with journalist Brygida Grysiak.
The book speaks about an ordinary day of John Paul II in the Vatican, and why he liked Tuesdays..

Middlesex is one of my favorites!
Just over half through When the Killing's Done, by T.C. Boyle. So far, I think it ranks with Boyle's best. I'll post a review in a couple days, I'm sure.
I'm reading "Loud in the House of Myself" Stacy Pershall. It's a NF about her life with anorexia, bulemia, bipolar, depression and borderline personality. Pretty good so far.

I loved this book. One of the few adult fiction books that I've re-read.
I just finished Madame Tussaud: A Novel of the French Revolution and loved it. I hated to see it end. Am currently still finishing up World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War
Angela wrote: "I am just starting The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo."That is a fantastic book I found the book most entertaining. evoking many differing emotions... suspense, disgust, intrigue, and some laughs also. Let me no wht you think.
Reading The Queen of Last Hopes
. I'm liking it although for some reason I'm finding the switching back and forth between points of view difficult-- probably because Margaret and Suffolk sound enough alike and are talking about the same situations to such an extent that the normal "separation" cues are missing. I'm enjoying it though.
I'm currently reading The Prodigy Project by Doug Flanders.I'm enjoying it so far. It has quite a distinctive style (can you call conservative, Christian American a style?)
I'm reading Blindness by José Saramago in Greek. I think it's one of those books/writers that you either love or hate. This is my second novel of Saramago and I am already a huge fun of his writing and his way of seing things.

I'm not even 100 pages into it, and i'm obsessed!!!! (and I know I haven't even gotten to the good parts yet)
I just finished listening to We Need to Talk About Kevin and it was gut-wrenching. Although it is a long book, and the narrator may sometimes get on your nerves, it is a book I would recommend heartily to anyone. It was very emotional, in a painful way.

Interesting! I've added that to my TBR list as I always liked JP2.
I have started and am enjoying Mary Jane Clark's Do You Promise Not to Tell?/Do You Want to Know a Secret?.
Dana wrote: "I just finished listening to We Need to Talk About Kevin and it was gut-wrenching. It is gut wrenching, I agree and hard to forget.
Angela wrote: "I am just starting The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo."I loved all three of these book, the second especially! I read them rather quickly after a having to take a whole slew of lit classes for my LA/E Associates...Now I'm kinda back on a lit classics kick. I'm reading 1984 by George Orwell, kind of on a dystopian theme I guess...

1984 is definitely on my to-read list! I love classic literature, so i'm always up for a good suggestion.
I finished Everything Is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer which I wasn't crazy about. I liked Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close so much better! Now I'm going to read Pretties by Scott Westerfeld.
Reading The Thief of Venice
and so far it's delightful-- literate, fast-paced, interesting drawings in it, good characters.
Angela wrote: "Scott wrote: "I finished Red yesterday. It ended in a cliffhanger. I'll have to finish the trilogy soon. Then I started Hearts In Atlantis."

I started with Black but I did pick up Green recently.
I am starting Kaspar Traulhaine Approximate by Pablo D'Stair. Then I think I may have to read Middlesex since so many people are raving about it on here!! :)
Just finished Thaïs (Five Stars!!!) and am moving on to A Room with a View by E.M. Forster which will be my first novel by him.

I couldn't get into Blindness but, despite that, I've picked up a copy of his book, The Gospel According to Jesus Christ. Hopefully, this one will go better than Blindness did.

Middlesex was awesome. I listened to the audio version and was amazed by the richness of the story and the narration. It's a book I'll reread one day...and I don't often reread books.
I'm currently reading Doc: A Novel and really enjoying it. I haven't had much time to read this week so I'm not very far along but the story grabbed me within a few pages.
Currently reading George Eliot's Middlemarch. It hasn't really captured my undivided attention - it seems rather plodding. This view has been tempered by the wise words of one reader who compared it to a soap opera in that we stop-by in one character's life for a brief instant and then move on to the next. Its probably me and my approach to books - I prefer a main character - someone to anchor the storyline. In this book you have several. Plus I am unable to engage with some of the characters - is there anyone out there who actually liked Fred Vincy?

I loved the whole Uglies series! it's one of my favorite teen series :)
i tried to read The Dirty Girls Social Club but the characters were annoying, and i didn't care for the way it was written. glad i got it at half-priced books. today i started Love Rosie and it's just as good as the other ones i've read from Cecelia Ahearn. it's presented in letter/note/IM/email/voicemail format which is different, and works with this story.
Finished 2 intersting mysteries, Blood of the Prodigal and City of Silver: A Mystery both with unusual setting. Now reading Gone For Soldiers and Stettin Station.

She's still switching back and forth a little but it's no longer a distraction. She writes a good historical-- this is the third one of hers I've read and even though I usually have 7-8 books going at once, I find when one of them is one of hers, the other books I'm reading get neglected.
I finished Pretties by Scott Westerfeld. An entertaining YA series! Next I'm on to For One More Day by Mitch Albom.
Just finished Lord of Misrule by Jaimy Gordon and have just begun The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson. Loved Lord of Misrule and, so far, The Devil in the White City is good, too.
I tried to read One for the Money by Janet Evanovich, I was about half way through and just hated it, I would have thrown it across the room in disgust but it was on my kindle, so had to be content with deleting it! Not quite as satisfying though :)I am now reading Island Beneath the Sea by Isabel Allende and I am enjoying it so far.
