Hi Katy,Three cop story writer's I love are: Michael Connolly, John Sandford, and Joe Wambaugh. After 25 years in law enforcement, I just didn't want to relive it through my characters. I'm happy reading those authors.
I have three finished books. One is in release now through a small publishing house. It's a paranormal romance called "Heroes Live Forever." The sequel is being released next month, "Journey in Time," which is a time-travel romance. They are part of my "Knights in Time," series.
Then, later in the winter, I have a romantic thriller coming out called, "Golden Chariot." It's part of a different series. I'm currently working on the sequel to that and after I finish it, I'll start the third book of my "Knight" series.
I'm currently reading Sandford's latest, "Buried Prey," and loving it.

Sandford is one of my favorites, too - I like how he's had Lucas grow, develop and (most importantly) AGE through the series - unlike Spenser by Robert K. Parker who I calculated at one time should be in his 80s but is still depicted like he's in his early 40s ... *shakes head*
If you need reviews, be sure to post in the "authors looking for reviews" folder - I do reviews, but I'm so backed up it's not even funny ... O.O If you don't mind a pretty significant wait you can always contact me for them. :-)

These books sound great!!! Who is your publisher?
I don't mind the wait. I'd love to post the stories in the "author's looking for reviews." Thank you for the suggestion and I'd be very appreciative to have you read the one that's out, since it's the first in the series and the upcoming one. My publisher is Books to Go Now. As I said, they're small and new but have been so great in helping me promote and giving me a "say" in my covers and my trailer for Heroes. I'm working on a trailer for "Journey in Time" now.
Books to Go Now only publish in eformat for Amazon, Barnes & Noble, but digital from their site and also Android App. I do have paperback editions of "Heroes" available now on their site, which I arranged for the printing. They specialize in short stories and mine is their first full length novel. They are hoping to expand and represent more full length novels. Their authors are on the above sites here in the US and on Amazon UK and Overdrive, the nationwide library system.
I can send you a PDF of "Heroes Live Forever," and "Journey in Time," when it's convenient for you.
Well sure i will review those for you!! I will warn you it will be a bit of a wait as i have 6 or 7 books in front of yours. The paranormal genre is near and dear to me. i write YA paranormal. I actually just got my first contract to publish from Otherworld Publications.
I am hoping it will be out next year sometime.
Its titled Masquerade (Heven and Hell #1)

oh my email is cambriahebert@rocketmail.com
I can send Heroes now. My friend is putting Journey in Time in PDF for me tomorrow or the day after. I love the title of your first book, very catchy. I'll also see which authors are looking for reviews. I can do some too.
Regarding Sandford, I like the fact he's allowed Lucas to age gracefully. Have you read Sandford's books with Virgil Flowers (who works for Lucas)? Virgil is great and Sandford writes him with such humor.

Hi, Chris, and welcome. I know what you meant about not writing cop stories after so long in the service. I felt exactly the same way after retiring from legal practice.

*laughs hysterically* "6 or 7 books" in front? *laughs some more* Oh, Goddess, I can't even IMAGINE such a small number ... I have 87 ... *laughs more*
@Amosa22us - you can send the book(s) to me at
katy.sozaeva@gmail.com since you don't mind the wait :-) Hope to hear from you!
Cambria wrote: "I have not read Sandford but it sounds great and I am glad that you like the title of my book! :)"I've been collecting the Virgil Flowers books - and have all the Davenport books - they ARE awesome, especially if you like thrillers. In fact, it was the Davenport books by Sanford that got me started on reading thrillers several years back. They're addictively good.

You amaze me, Katy. For some, 87 books would be a decade of reading, or more.

Hey, Phil - it's less than a year to me, even if I'm NOT going through a book every day. But still ... it IS a lot and I had hoped to not get this backed up, but once I got started with the editing stuff, it sort of snowballed ... LOL
Goodness! I go offline for two days and look at all the stuff I missed! Welcome Chris and Patricia!
Splitter, I love writing and receiving letters but am phenomenally bad at actually having any stamps or posting the damn things! My lot are used to the fact that their birthday cards will probably be a month late in the post or I'll fetch them up with me next time I'm in that part of the country!
Katy, that would stress me to the gills with 87 on my TBR - I have about six and that makes me twitchy!

What is making me twitchy is all the other books I have that I want to read that I feel I can't until I get through more of the TBR pile! But if it weren't for the TBR pile, I never would have discovered the wonderful books that I read this weekend - the three volumes of the Pact Arcanum (so far) and Seranfyll - a wonderfully well-spent weekend of reading!

I have over 100!!!!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one chuckling over 6 or 7... :-)

I'm only counting the ones for which I have promised a review ... I have over 50 "freebies that I should review 'cause I'm nice" and several hundred that I've purchased here and there and want to read ... LOL Is that how you keep track, too? TBR = to be reviewed as promised?
My list includes some giveaway wins. I said last week I was going to separate them so I could give a better estimate for when my review will go up. Just the past couple of days, I have won about 10 books from LibraryThing! I'd estimate that I have about the same amount as you for Author Request/Response.
I don't even have the books I "want" to read on my list. It would probably just make me sad that I'm never getting to them! LOL

I've only won 2 books through FirstReads in the past 3 months, despite signing up for dozens! :-)
Yeah, I'm the same - the ones *I* want to read sit and gather dust ... oh, well ... :-) I'll get to 'em sometime!
I don't win a lot from Goodreads. I always win several from LT, and I prefer the way they have their giveaways set up (a list each month).

Cassie wrote: "I don't win a lot from Goodreads. I always win several from LT, and I prefer the way they have their giveaways set up (a list each month)."Definitely more wins - I've already won 2 and I just joined this week! Awesome! :-)
Well, sign up on LibraryThing for all the giveaways!!!! LOL Are you on netGalley? Make sure to advertise yourself in the reviewer section here! Katy and I are up to our eyeballs in books :-)...
Hey Amy and Cambria,Can we get a thread for a "master list" for member's blog? No discussion, just the blog name.
Could we do the same for Twitter?
Or is this a bad idea? lol

Amosa22us wrote: "After 25 years in law enforcement, I just didn't want to relive it through my characters."Hi Chris, I'll say welcome but I'm kind of new to the group, too so it feels a little to welcome another new author. The gals who've welcomed you are really top notch! I can't believe how helpful and nice people have been in this group! Check around the other discussions, don't be afraid to jump right in.
I write under two different names and have heck of a time keeping up with it all but under my "Webbiegrrl" name, I also have a blog where I try to help fellow authors get a handle on how all this stuff in Indie Publishing works. Your publisher, although a small press, is very much like Indie Publishing for you, when it comes down to it. That is, you have to do a lot of your own promo and solicitation for reviews and sales generation, etc. They don't have the staff to do it for you, I'm sure. You'll find Monday Marketing and Tues Tips blog posts are geared specifically to helping you with that stuff. I use my own experiences with my "orphan child" book as an example. I published Coming Home (Dicky's Story) just to get it out there. It's a Jewish Inspirational / Romantic Comedy and NOTHING like anything else I write. I keep telling people that but I don't think people believe me (until they read my other stuff).
I write under my own name Romantic Suspense (got 2 novels in process) and under a pen name (Marjorie F. Baldwin or "Friday", yes, taken from the Robert A. Heinlein book) I write SF technothrillers. I think you and I have some crossover and we might do well reviewing each other's work. I have chapters of Book 2 in the SF technothriller series up on Authonomy (the Harper Collins writing community web site where people post books -- in process -- and get feedback or, if they win the popularity contest, they get read and critiqued by a Harper Collins slush editor for their genre. Woo oho. Not. I've never heard of any Authonomy book that gets to the Editor's Desk (ED) getting bought - plus who wants ED? hee hee, couldn't help it, it slipped out.
Over in some other discussion area here (this group is huge) there is a place to post twitter and blog and other URLs and I posted all of mine, but feel free to message me here if you prefer the short route. I don't log into Goodreads as often as I could'a/would'a/should'a but I try.
Again, be extra nice to the hostesses with the mostesses :) They sure are worth it! This group is a lot of fun and really great (when I have time to participate).I've advertised it to all my "friends" over at Authonomy, too.
Amy -I am just wondering, do members generally tell other members when they have posted a book review? If so, where is it done?
Or are there so many people and reviews, we just attach the review to the book, and it is there for people to discover?
The second option seems to make more sense to me.
Thank you!
Patricia

Hi Sarah,
Thank you the tips on where to look for help in promoting. It seems that it's not just those of us with small publishers or Indie pubbed that have to do our own promoting. I recently spoke to a debut author who was signed for 3 books with a major house. They basically told her she was on her own regarding promotion. She's new and they anticipate will be midlist, so they're not going to spend alot of time and money on her.
I'll gladly look at any of your stories for review. The ones I've looked at for my publisher are in PDF. Send them to amosa22us@yahoo.com. (Chris Karlsen is my pen name). I wasn't going to use a pen name but then thought all I need is some dope I arrested (not that I think many of them read) to go onto Amazon and write poisonous reviews.
My book that's out now is a paranormal romance and the one coming out September 9 is a time-travel romance. If either of those interest you to review, let me know where to send them. I have both in PDF.

Patricia-
you can most definitely attach the review to the book on the book's page but you can also post the review here in the group.
Just post it in the correct folder (like the folder paranormal if the book is a paranormal) and then it will be on its own thread here in the group.
Then it will be on two places on Good Reads. Does that help?
