Other than the group reads, what are you reading or have just finished? Any great book suggestions?

I am reading the Chaos Walking trilogy and loving it. Very thought provoking. I am leaning toward giving 4 stars at this point, but have to wait and see what happens in the end.

I'll start with the other classics I've read. The ones not included in the classic challenge for this group.

I've read The Hound of the Baskervilles, I, Robot (which is so far my favorite book of the year), and One Hundred Years of Solitude

And later this month I plan on reading Candide, The Metamorphosis.

My focus this month and in April is an Around the World Challenge, so I've been and will continue to be primarily reading books from non-US authors. Right now I'm reading The Strain by Guillermo Del Toro, who is my favorite director. So far I'm really enjoying it and I'm glad I went ahead and bought the second book in the series too: The Fall

I've also been working my way throughJ.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I'm awaiting the arrival of book 7 Lover Avenged

Right now, I'm trying to finish An Irish Country Courtship which I borrowed and need to get back. I'm also reading The Name of the Rose as a buddy read in The James Mason Book Club. It is interesting, but I'm having a hard time understanding some of it, since many paragraphs are in Latin.
Soon, I will read The Kite Runner for the book club that meets in my home town. I think that I'm addicted to book clubs!:)

I am currentlyreading The Diary of a Young Girl Just finished World Without End And in February I read To Kill A Mockingbird Which I absolutely loved and highly recommend.

LOL You're so right! I read Dr. Seuss almost everyday with the boys. I Am Number Four is just fun sci-fi adventure. I like it so far, it's a very quick read. I'm interested in seeing the movie now.

I have so many books in my currently reading pile it is ridiculous! But I would say I am actually reading Gregor and the Marks of Secret and A 1000-Mile Walk on the Beach - One Woman's Trek of the Perimeter of Lake Michigan. I really want to read the The Book Thiefso I am glad to see Kaila liked it.

I have the first book of the Underland Chronicals on my shelf to read! I hope I like it.

It took me a little bit to get into the first book just because of the far-fetched nature of it but my boys absolutely eat this stuff up and now I'm hooked. It isn't quite as gripping as the Hunger Games trilogy but Suzanne Collins sure knows how to end a chapter!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Underland Chronicles (all 5 of them) and they were very easy reading if you need something light after all the classics!

I just finished An Irish Country Village ... am about to finish Legacy by Danielle Steel, which is an amazingly good book. I am also reading One Perfect Day by Lorraine Snelling, and have a graphic novel of Swiss Family Robinson to read for the New year's Challenge. I recently added "Origin of Species" to my want to read list, as well as Dante's Inferno. I'm loving reading what everyone else has read and how they enjoyed the books.

I have always thought tackling Dante's Inferno would be interesting, especially since it is mentioned every where in literature, it scares me though, rather like Don Quixote.

I've been fascinated by Dante's Inferno since college, I even bought a video game based loosely on it, but I too am scared of actually reading it.

Did you like the Fallen series?

I have a copy of Dante's Inferno. I think I started it a couple times when I was younger but never finished it. Wouldn't mind tackling it. It is a huge part of The Gargoyle one of my favorite books.

I did like it. Since it is YA, sometimes the characters annoy me,probably an age thing, but I enjoyed the story quite a big. I really want to read The Gargoyle, it is on my TR list.

I just finished I Am Number Four, I enjoyed it even though it wont be getting any literary awards. It was fun. We also saw the movie yesterday which, again, was fun but not amazing. Started which is hilarious so far. I'll start Watership Down when I'm done with this one.

I just finished Pride and Prejudice, and loved it. I am now moving on to The Old Man and the Sea, which I hated in high school, so we'll see. I was please to see (when I picked it up at the library) that it is a very short book ... I did not remember that. I just received in the mail a copy of Watership Down, so I'm also going to finish that one by the end of the month. And next week, my spring break week, I am reading only enjoyable books I want to read just for me ...

Forgive my ignorance, but are they meant to be read together? Or should you read they with a different perspective?

After I finish my new year challenge, I am on and then just a graphic novel, I plan on reading for one that's been on my to read list.

I'm reading Devil in a Blue Dress which I hope to finish today. It's really hard to put down. The author does a great job at transferring the reader to the 1940s in black L.A. It's quite an interesting change from Philip Marlowe's perspective in The Big Sleep which I finished a couple of days ago.

If any of you like detective-fiction or crime-fiction, I highly recommend both. Plus, if you enjoy either one or both, you can check out the rest of the books in their series!

Yes, that was my first Coelho. I was impressed that a book less than 200 pages long could be so redundant. I don't understand how so many people could be blown away by that book.

But, as I said in my thoughts on Veronika Decides to Die, I may be too much of a nihilist to enjoy his works.

Does anyone else start more than one book at a time? I really have a problem with this. I have 4 books going right now, Jane Eyre, The Name of the Rose, The Handmaid's Tale, and Two for the Dough. I need 3 extra sets of eyes and, at least, one extra brain. Plus went to the library yesterday and picked up The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Need some serious help! Sorry friends for all the updates!:)

Although I'm sort of slow on the pick up right now--missing the warm sunny weather and flowers in the South and still having short crying spells over Soot--but I usually have at least three books going. I never know what my reading mood will be so there is always a historical biography, a cozy no mind mystery, and a crime novel or latest best seller. I loved the Girl and the two sequels--finished hornet's nest on the trip. I have a box of unread books near my reading chair--several near the bed and now have a pile of trip acquisitions for which I have to find room. But you know, in general, it beats what's on TV! LOL

I just finished the second book in the Undead series by MaryJanice Davidson Undead and Unemployed. They are like candy. Just fun, silly books.

Yes, I usually have several books going at once ... I have one that I use sort of as a "devotional", then I usually have a Chicken Soup or other short section book to read a small bit of at night ... and sometimes I will start one, then find another I'd rather read first, so I set one aside to read another one. Every once in a while I have a day (or 2 or 3) to finish up all the started but not finished ones and move on to something new. I put all my books that I want to read on the bookshelf beside my bed (piled high, but all on the shelf somewhere). There were 108 before my fantastic find at the thrift store yesterday ... bought 15 books for $3, so I couldn't turn that down. They were all on my to-read list, too.

I am currently reading 4 books, maybe I should say 3 because I have a feeling Eat, Pray, Love will remain unfinished, I'm on page 120, I haven't picked it up in over a month, and I really can't seem to motivate myself to keep on reading... I've almost finished The Outlaw Demon Wails which is actually better than the previous "Hollows" novels, I'll comment on it once I'm finished which should be any day now. I'm half way through Toutes ces choses qu'on ne s'est pas dites and about a third through Mister Pip. And I do have to reread Jane Eyre because it's been a while... No wonder I don't have enough Time to read, see what I get myself into!

I loved [book:The Name of the Rose, Eco is not usually an easy read but I devoured that one!

Yeah, it is a buddy read in the James Mason group and I have appreciated the insight into the Latin and the church history. Lots of extra stuff to know in his books! I'm enjoying it though, can't wait to see the movie!

Oh, I hope you like it--I loved all three of them and watched the movies after each one. They are subtitled but the rhythm is so good that you can read it and still see the action. My sister, who isn't much of a book reader--likes magazines better---begged me to finish Hornet's Nest on my trip so that I could leave it with her on my way home. I did and she's reading it now, Enjoy!

I'm currently reading Nora Roberts' Jewels of the Sun. Never read anything by her before, and I am more than thoroughly enjoying it. In fact, I should go read rather than being on this computer!
