I've always wanted to read The Count of Monte Cristo, I'm hoping to get to it soon. I'm reading Heir to the Empire right now. I love the Star Wars setting, so I thought I'd give the books a try. So far it's good, better than I expected. I'm also listening to The Lost World from audible.com during my commute. I love pretty much all the Crichton I've ever read. It's always exciting.

I would love to join you for the discussion though I am definitely no "expert". ;-) When I was about 11 I fell in love with this book and since that time I've reread it several times. It's been almost 10 yaers since I last opened the book so after finishing The Count of Monte Cristo I might be temted to one more reread.

I've also read
The Three Musketeers many times, the first being when I was a tween. There's something so romantic about the adventure, don't you think?

message 412: by Leona (new)

Leona I just started reading Invisible Man. Heavy stuff.

message 413: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) Right now I'm reading Blue Sky Days by Marie Landry. I got it free as one of those read & review things. I'm 5 or 6 chapters into it so far and it's pretty boring. the novel is not very well written and its meant to be a YA romance novel but the main characters who are 19 & 22 talk like their in their 60's! And if that wasn't bad enough, the love story is far too unrealistic, so I'm finding it very hard to connect with the characters. I think this is one novel where I'm definitely going to struggle through it.

I'm not much for sci-fi, but after seeing a program on
Philip K. Dick, I would like to read one of his books. Have you seen the movie Blade Runner? I do believe that it was based on that book. Enjoy! Can't wait to see your review!

Lisa and Suzanne, I'm always interested to know what people think after they've finished Mockingjay. If you get a chance when you're done, write and let me know, ok? Catching Fire was probably my favorite of the series.

I have read the series. The funny thing is that we started a discussion thread on this book with this club. It was started when we were still a private group and had 4 members, and all of us were hooked and desperate to read it immediately when it came out. It is still there under group discussions, if you would like to participate/discuss. It isn't a classic, but at the time we just wanted to discuss it as a group, I guess that is the joy of being a moderator! (ha)

I am finally back after taking a break for a few months. I just finished Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson on audiobook and loved it. It was fascinating to me! I just started Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne today and hope to get it done this weekend. I am looking forward to our May reads and I need to read some obscure book for my in person bookclub (what's the acronym for that again...). Not too excited about that book but we'll see.
