kwesi 章英狮 (kwesifriends) I have to read my old books that I collected since high school. Currently I'm reading The Naked Face by Sidney Sheldon, my high school friends cried or get shocked after reading the book and I don't know the reason behind that.

I've had that book for years! Everyone I know who has read it has said it's wonderful, but that it has a slow start. When I'm picking a new book this always puts me off choosing it (I have masses of unread books to choose from as I buy them faster than i can possibly read them so other books beat it to the top spot). Will get round to it one day, tell us how it goes!

You will have to let me know if it is any good. I've wanted to read it for awhile, but after all the hype of the movie, I was a little leary

kwesi 章英狮 (kwesifriends) Louise and Heidi - I have that book for years and I have a friend here who have the same taste with me and said it was so disappointing but I want to try it for years because some of my friends here in GR enjoyed it than the movie.

How did you like Shadow Bound overall? I read the first few pages but was kind of confused.

StartedSuccubus Blues while on the way to Flordia but didn't get very far so I'm picking it back up.

Heidi,
It is actually much better than the movie. The movie is beautifuly done, that is, it's eye candy, but the story is flat.
The book is so rich with detail you will love it. All except for the last chapter, where the Geisha gets old, that could have been left out. I'd give 4.5 stars.

Did you read the first books in the Vampire Academy Series? It really does need to be read in order, or it can be confusing. I did a review on the whole series, if you want to check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Baf8qY...

It's not the Vampire Academy Shadow Bound, this one is byErin Kellison and I believe is about Fae of some sort.

message 376: by Kerri (new)

Kerri (kerrimcbooknerd) I'm currently reading 'Bram Stocker's Dracula' cause I'm slowly reading my way through classic novels that I feel I should have read by this point in my life. That's why I subjected myself to the torture that is 'The Scarlet Letter'... ugh. I'm rather enjoying 'Dracula' so far, though!

message 377: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Angell (heidiangell) | 211 comments I actually enjoyed the Scarlett Letter, thanks to an absolutely AWESOME English teacher! It is easier if you read it out loud. There was a pretty good movie about it too, that helped to make it make sense. (Not the one from 1995, might be the mini-series from 1970's... high school was too long ago!) Anyway, There is a lot of detail that is sometimes insignificant, but the story line is quintessential to understanding our nation's moral development, in my opinion.

message 378: by Kerri (new)

Kerri (kerrimcbooknerd) The movie (I know which one you're referring to... the one sans Demi Moore, yes?) I liked. I just couldn't get into the book at all. I think, perhaps, reading it aloud and with a group might have helped. As it was, though, the writing just came off as tedious and dry. But, then, it *is* an older novel and I understand that's the language they used back then. Just not my thing, I guess, haha. I do agree with you about the overall story line, though.

It was very confusing...no explanation of anything.. like ever. LOL But it was a good book! I did enjoy it. Once I got into it, somewhere in the middle, it didn't take long to finish because I couldn't put it down. :)

Lol, well maybe I'll start it soon. lately I can't seem to find anything that I actually WANT to read...the books are good it's just not something I'm into right now unfortunately.

message 391: by Elvia (new)

Elvia (elvb) @ Michelle I know exactly how you feel! It's taken me awhile to get back into reading in general. Now it seems I may have hit my stride again...at least on weekends.
Knocked out two books in the last 28 hours. lol

I just finished Tempting the Beast and I think I may have found another series to read. lol I've been begged to read this series numerous times by a co-worker. Well now she's going to have to let me borrow it since book 2 is nowhere to be found in the state of Ohio's libraries!!

Heidi Angell (heidiangell) | 211 comments Not a huge Twilight fan, but I would always choose tall, dark, handsome best friend who is a heater, over old-fashioned, mysterious, dangerous control freak who thinks he knows what is best for me.... Jacob all the way!!

message 397: by Helen (new)

Helen I want to type in Russian too!!! I really felt for Jacob after he pulled Bella out of her comatose mood. Yes Edward is lovely but he's cold. He won't touch Bella and he freezes her. My cold toes want Jacob, he is so considerate too.

PS don't think I fancy borscht - don't threaten my innards!
