Heather Andrews (bookhacker) Gotta say, I finally jumped on the Cassandra Clare bandwagon. I'm currently reading City of Ashes. I'm also reading Dean Koontz's Odd Thomas. I love them both so much. I've really become invested in the characters.

Odd (the book)is especially refreshing, yet terrifying and different from anything I've ever read. I'm not usually into horror books. And I love Odd (the character). He's awkward and adorable.

Helen I loved Cities - certainly an adult young adult book. Declaration was a young young adult book. I do wonder about these young people reading all this dystopian literature - it must be quite bleak. I love it mind!

message 457: by Elvia (new)

Elvia (elvb) Realized the reason I'm almost done with Elizabeth's Wolf is because I'm skimming thru the dirty parts. lol Not sure why... it's just not interesting to me.

message 480: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 617 comments I Walk in Dread: The Diary of Deliverance Trembley, Witness to the Salem Witch Trials, Massachusetts Bay Colony, 1691 for my children's literature class. Honestly it's boring me a bit, but I think it's the time period I chose (I could choose any Dear America book). As a social phenomenon I find the Salem Witch Trials fascinating (and horrible), but reading a story about Puritans always gets a bit boring. There is always at least one standout character, but generally it is a bunch people who live in fear that their neighbors will think they are damned. If you want to read a good book about the Salem Witch Trials I would recommend The Crucible. Much more interesting, even if it does bend history a bit.

stormhawk | 1184 comments In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin - Erik Larsen

(He also wrote The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America, which I really loved. He seems to interweave two stories.

In the Garden of Beasts is about an American family that goes to Berlin in 1933, so there's a lot of focus on the early years of Hitler's Germany. Not sure what else. I've only just finished the prologue.
