stormhawk | 1184 comments Does no one else find it strange that two Russian Men would be arguing about Edward vs. Jacob in a thread that has nothing to do with Twilight?

I smell spam burning. or at least trolls.

lol I don't know about Boris, but I know that is just Mikhail's personality. Not spam, just boys being boys. I think they are trying to liven up the conversation and give some laughs.

Vampire Academy is great! You should definitely read it.

Michelle (shadowrose) Just finished Succubus Blues a few minutes ago, so I finally started Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris. I haven't wanted to read it because it's hardback unlike the others I have in the series...as odd as that is, it bothered me enough to make me not want to read it.

Leslie Shimotakahara (lshimo) I'm currently reading Damon Galgut's The Good Doctor, a fascinating character study of a white South African doctor's struggle to come to terms with the past, in the morally ambiguous climate of the "new" South Africa. I love how subtle and evocative Galgut's language is.... All of his characters are rich, complex and very real in their emotions and dilemmas.

Louise The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms (The Inheritance Trilogy, #1) by N.K. Jemisin

Started this last night and it's addictively good from the start! Only 120 pages in but I've bought the sequel online just in case!

I hope a moderator can locate them as soon as possible, and I assume that they are currently looking in a diligent manner. A horrific error indeed. I cried myself to sleep last night. The world would have felt my anger at this, had I not known it to be a horrible mistake. Fear not comrades, for I will not rest until this horrific mistake is accounted for! Unlike Soviet Russia, we have FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!

lol I deleted the older comments so that people can navigate through the "currently reading" thread more easily. I figured, everyone had already seen them, and knowing the both of you... you'll post newer ones soon. lol

Ever think of making a thread specifically for your banter? You could make it a humorous thread for people to read. I find your comments hilarious, I just don't want all the members who are on this thread for the currently reading posts to get irritated.

And yes, Stormhark is right... Play NICE! I am VERY interested in what she is or is not reading. She is one of my favorite members. :P

Stormhawk-
Why aren't you reading vanity fair anymore? Did you finish it or did you not like it?

message 425: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (shadowrose) Finished Dead in the Family last night when I couldn't sleep, so now I can't wait to get the next one thought I'm going to try and wait for the paperback (so another 6 months for me).

Just started The Accidental Demon Slayer by Angie Fox...it's okay so far, hoping it picks up.

I was expressing my delight over having finished it. It's not that I didn't like it, exactly, but that I found it a rather tedious chore to read.

I posted a review to that effect on the book's page.

I haven't read the book, but I remember being very bored with the movie. :(

message 428: by Susan (new)

Susan I'm reading A Turn in the Road by Debbie Macomber book 8 in the Blossom Street series!! I love this series!!

message 429: by Tamara (new)

Tamara (tcornelsen) | 20 comments I just finished 3rd Degree by James Patterson. As usual, it read 'is-the-book-over-already' quick.

message 430: by Louise (new)

Louise Started The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fford this morning. Third in the Thursday Next series. So good.

message 431: by Helen (new)

Helen I've just started Patterson's Bloody Valentine

message 432: by Elvia (new)

Elvia (elvb) Reading Shadow Fall. Not as good as book one but good enough to finish today....or tomorrow.

message 435: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 617 comments I just read It's a Book by Lane Smith. It might be a picture book, but I'd recommed it to pretty much everyone!

message 436: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (shadowrose) I just started God Save the Sweet Potato Queens by Jill Conner Browne and Death Masks by Jim Butcher. The first book is kind of goofy, I read the first one and laughed my butt off so I figured I'd read the second one too.

message 437: by Emma Lou (new)

Emma Lou (rubyeskimo) | 14 comments Just started Annabel by Kathleen Winter, sounds interesting about a hermaphrodite baby and how it's brought up as a boy, all the time with this female part screaming inside. It was nominated for the Orange Prize for Fiction this year so it can't be bad!

message 438: by Cory (new)

Cory Lamontagne | 15 comments I am reading If on a Winter's Night a Traveler by Italo Calvino and I have to say I am not enjoying it as much as I thought I would.

message 439: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (shadowrose) Okay changed my mind, I'm not reading Death Masks. I'm reading Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins instead. I downloaded it last night and decided that I couldn't wait to read it.

message 440: by Nicole (new)

Nicole I am currently reading Moloka'i by Alan Brennert. It is about a young girl in Hawaii in the 1890's who contracts leprosy.

message 441: by Helen (new)

Helen I'm reading Declaration, it's a good idea.

message 442: by Elvia (new)

Elvia (elvb) It's either going to be On the Prowl (not too sure I even want to read this), Bite Club (I know I want to read this), or Soulless.

I think I'll take all three to work and pick during my lunch. lol

message 443: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1 comments I just finished reading a book called Jane Was Here. Jane Was Here. I got an advance copy from a friend in publishing. It's a great read for a rainy weekend. I gave it to my mom, and i think she read it in a day. The plot transitions between present day and the 1850's. It's an eerie account of one woman's travels between her past and present life. If you like mystery, suspense, thriller, some horror and the paranormal, then this is for you.

Next on my list Cirque du Freak. I need to see why the kids love this series and this writer. After that, I might tackle Area 51 Area 51: An Uncensored History of America's Top Secret Military Base

stormhawk | 1184 comments Under the Dog Star - Sandra Parshall

Prepublication galley from netgalley.com

I love the mysteries from Poisoned Pen Press ... they've all been at least really darn good, and so I've got a lot of hopes for this one.

message 445: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Dutton | 19 comments I am almost finished with The Wild Sight. It has been a good fast paced read. I am also having problems with deciding what to read next. I have the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost and the Highlander series by Karen Marie Moning on my list of TBR. I can't decide which ones to start. Once I start a series I fly through it... any recommendations on which one to start with?

message 446: by Emma Lou (new)

Emma Lou (rubyeskimo) | 14 comments I finished Annabel in 2 days and have since read a couple of Gabriel Garcia Marquez short stories. Now I'm onto Great House by Nicole Krauss. After that I'll be starting my way through the 1001 books to read before you die list that was posted on another thread. I figure it's a way to use my library card more and will give me something to do hehe.

message 447: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (shadowrose) I've started Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins. So far so good. :)

message 448: by Helen (new)
