I am Currently Reading (2011)

I'm currently reading TRAPPED by Michael Northropp and Madonnas of Echo Park (for a book group here in Phoenix)

How was Mockingjay?

I enjoyed it just as much as the first two really, and read it just as quick. I was a little worried because people where saying it was a let down but I didn't feel that way about it

House of Evil: The Indiana Torture Slaying

how was "Roots", Patricia?"
Roots was very good, I'm glad I re-read it. Very long book, and some parts went on and on a little more than I liked. There was a lot of the dialect which I'm sure was typical of the time and sometimes I had to read twice to understand what it was saying. But it was a very captivating story, has a lot of history in it, and I'm sure it's a perfect example of how things were at the time. Heartbreaking at times, we humans haven't always behaved in a humane manner, but also heartwarming at times.

Shelley wrote: "David wrote: "i am reading East of Eden. I think it may become my favorite book. I love all the characters...except Cathy. I hate her despite Mr. Steinbeck's desire for empathy toward..."

East of Eden is in my 5 top books of all time. Steinbeck was a master.

Flowers for Algernon
There was a thread on Kindleboards about what book made you cry and this was one that was mentioned.

It is a tearjerker but a good one. One of my favorites books. The movie, "Charly," was well-done too.

I have the first book " The Girl with the Golden Tatoo" but for some reason pick it up and then just put it down.

even with my ereader I have 100 paper books, but Michael C. is one of my faves. listen to one of his author interviews sometime on youtube.com

I won't MAKE you read East of Eden but if you find reading it desirable...
"he should forget it completely and concentrate solely on the means." Steinbeck-East of Eden.
I love re-reading my favorite books, it is almost similar to catching up with an old friend.

I read Darkfever the other day and thought it was great! Let me know how The Darkest Night is. It's on my list TBR and I haven't heard anything about it yet :)

I'm going to add my agreement with this comment! I've been catching up with some "old friends" courtesy of the Kindle and really enjoying it. What I find truly interesting is being reintroduced to details that I'd forgotten while remembering the main plot.
