Julie I started reading The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater yesterday at work. I know this is silly but I was hesitant to start because because I was thinking of the water horses as a Loch Ness Monster type thing and not actually a horse so I wasn't sure I'd be into it, lol.

message 1053: by Bethany (new)

Bethany I think part of what made the Scorpio Races so wonderful for me was that it was refreshingly original. So much of the mythological and paranormal stuff has been done to death. The water horses were a totally new thing for me and I thought they were incredibly interesting. I also just love the overall story and I LOVE Sean and Puck. They are one of my favorite literary couples ;)

Bethany Reading Silksinger (Dreamdark #2) by Laini Taylor and loving it!

message 1055: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (laughingwoman3) Right now I'm reading The Dean's Watch (City of Bells, Book 3) by Elizabeth Goudge , and Half Empty by David Rakoff . I'm struggling with Guns, Germs, and Steel The Fates of Human Societies by Jared Diamond and I think I've given up on some of the other books on my currently reading list.

I loved the first one! Getting ready to read the second soon. I heard there are supposed to be 5 books total in the series but her publishers aren't interested in continuing them right now. They better change their minds eventually or I am going to be really upset!

Teresa Myers (teresamyers) I just finished Anathema (Causal Enchantment, #1) by K.A. Tucker and was really impressed by it. Last I checked it was free for your kindle and I can't recommend it enough. Totally unique vampire plotline. It's been awhile since I could say that.

Now I'm starting White Cat (Curse Workers, #1) by Holly Black and am really looking forward to it.

I'm glad you shared that! I have Anathema, but I've been hesitant to read it, kinda expecting a mediocre book. But, now I will totally push it up the list a bit:)

And, White Cat is awesome!

I am reading
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern too and it is wonderful. It is taking me a while to get through it. I am finding that I want to savor it instead of rushing like I usually do. I definitely recommend it though.

Sandra "Jeanz" | 49 comments I have just started reading Defy (Firstborn, #1) by Raine Thomas its the first book in the Firstborn Trilogy which is a spin off/sister series to The Daughters Of Saraqael Series. I haven't read The Daughters Of Saraqael so hopefully it will not make much of a difference. there is a bit of a glossary and who is who etc at the beginning aimed at those who haven't read The Daughters Of Saraqael Series.

@ Lauren
I think with Fear, they are gonna put the kids on display until they can take care of the dome. I just felt like a lot of things were left hanging. Did you write a review?

@Rebecca-I did the same thing. I don't know if it was bc the chapters were short or what. It was a bit strange but I pushed through and two things happened: it ended well but then I saw it was going to be a trilogy, which meant a lot of open ends.

Good luck though if you do press on.
