Carey | 100 comments I loved Hourglass Bethany.

I've read Current (River of Time) and Vanish (Firelight), now onto The Scorch Trials. It's so awesome I even dreamt I was in it last night. ;)

message 755: by Candice (new)

Candice (thecrj) About halfway through The Pearl Wars (Skyship Academy #1) by Nick James . I'm really enjoying it. Kind of a mix of sci-fi and dystopian.

I just got All These Things I've Done by Gabrielle Zevin ; very excited to start it!

message 756: by Shirley (new)

Shirley McClure-Huckleberry (shuckleberry) | 2 comments I just started reading Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie so far so good. Just finished reading The Scorch Trials (Maze Runner, #2) by James Dashner and The People of Sparks (Books of Ember, #2) by Jeanne DuPrau . All were great.

Lauren | 18 comments Has anyone read The Returners by Gemma Malley

I'm trying to get into it, but its kinda weird and slow right now.

message 761: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 1 comments I'm on book two of the Chaos Walking series... The Ask and the Answer (Chaos Walking, #2) by Patrick Ness
This series is soooooo good!! Recommending it to anyone who enjoys dystopian novels.

message 762: by Julie (new)

Julie Fast-Tracked (Fast-Tracked Trilogy) by Tracy Rozzlynn ended up being pretty good. It's a Dystopian and I liked the concept but it seemed like she got some inspiration from Gossip Girl.

message 763: by Bethany (last edited Sep 27, 2011 09:00AM) (new)

Bethany Just finished Hourglass (Hourglass, #1) by Myra McEntire . It was way better than what I was expecting. So, so good. I'm definitely recommending it to everyone.

message 764: by Julie (new)

Julie I just finished Empty by Suzanne Weyn , it's a pretty scary book. The world runs out of oil and everything goes downhill, you almost don't realize how many things depend on it.

message 765: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Just finished Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs . I don't want to say much about it because I went into it being pretty clueless and I think thats the best way with this book. But, I highly recommend it.

Starting Rip Tide (Dark Life #2) by Kat Falls and The Power of Six (Lorien Legacies, #2) by Pittacus Lore

message 766: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amonika) I'm just getting ready to start United Eden by Nicole Williams . I just finished Wicked (Celestra #4) by Addison Moore and I have enjoyed that series.

message 767: by Bethany (last edited Sep 30, 2011 10:46PM) (new)

Bethany Just finished The Power of Six (Lorien Legacies, #2) by Pittacus Lore and for all of you who are thinking, 'well, I am number four wasn't that great. I don't think I'll bother with the sequel'...THINK AGAIN! This book was way better than the first..in my opinion ;)

Also picked up from the library... Wolfsbane (Nightshade, #2) by Andrea Cremer The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch Enclave (Razorland, #1) by Ann Aguirre

I just picked up The Power of Six (Lorien Legacies, #2) by Pittacus Lore at the library today and I need to find a way to get ahold of The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch , you'll have to say how it is!

message 769: by Lynne (new)

Lynne I am reading Fire by Kristin Cashore...like it so far, although liked Graceling a little bit more. Oryx and Crake is on my to-read list, recently read The Handmaid's Tale and really liked it.

I will definitely let you know how The Eleventh Plague is. I think you'll really like The Power of Six...I loved it!

I've started Wolfsbane (Nightshade, #2) by Andrea Cremer . I really loved Nightshade when I read it, but I found that it hasn't really stuck with me and I had to go read some reviews on it to refresh my memory of the plotline. But so far Wolfsbane is good. I like the premise and where the story seems to be going. I hope it gets better further in. And, also, I hope the love triangle dissolves because...I REALLY HATE LOVE TRIANGLES. I admit that this one isn't THAT bad. But, still...can ya just pick a guy already?!?!

message 772: by Amber (new)

Amber | 13 comments "The fact is that censorship always defeats its own purpose, for it creates, in the end, the kind of society that is incapable of exercising real discretion. " It's banned book month, so you should go read a book that's been banned. Let me know which you choose.

Right now I'm reading The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness and I'm really liking it so far. For my banned book I would like to read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling or Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson , but I have so many things to read this month I don't know if I'll have time.

message 776: by Jennifer (last edited Oct 05, 2011 10:16AM) (new)

Jennifer (teoe) Amber, where can I find a list of more recently banned books? I'm not really interested in reading a "classic", and I've read all the HP books and Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson . Otherwise, I've got a ton in my "to read" pile right now. I just finished City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3) by Cassandra Clare , and I have City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare and Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices #1) by Cassandra Clare checked out from the library right now. I have The Son of Neptune (Heroes of Olympus, #2) by Rick Riordan waiting for me at the library, too! I also have A Clash of Kings, but as long as I get to it before the new season of Game of Thrones, I'll be happy.

I can't decide if I want to "drop everything" for The Son of Neptune (Heroes of Olympus, #2) by Rick Riordan (I know there's bound to be holds on it from the library, so I know I won't be able to renew it, and i'd hate to hold up the line) or if I want to at least get through City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare to have that series as tied up as I can before moving to something new. Can. Not. Decide!

edited: I found this list of books most often banned from 2000-2009 http://www.ala.org/ala/issuesadvocacy... if anyone is interested. I'm not finding where it is "officially" banned books month (I keep seeing that Banned Books week ended yesterday), but who casre!?! Read a banned book!

message 777: by Andrew (new)

Andrew | 22 comments Finished Deadline (Newsflesh Trilogy, #2) by Mira Grant . Enjoyed it a lot, although I can't believe the author did that to us, the readers, on the last chapter!

Starting Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry and Tangled Threads (Elemental Assassin, #4) by Jennifer Estep .

Been reading a good bit of zombie books lately. Maybe my mind is subconsciously getting pumped for The Walking Dead season 2 to start this month.

I'm glad that you've found a list of banned books and are continuing the trend. I found a lot of articles about banned book week too. I think that nationwide it's just one week, but depending on where you live they continue it throughout the month. That's how I interpret it anyway. I'll definitely reconsider my reading selections since I'm in the same situation. I've read them both already but it's been awhile, but now I'm thinking I want to read a new banned book(not a classic).

TMI/ID books are amazing! How are you liking them so far?

Blood and Chocolate, Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes,The Giver, and A Wrinkle in Time are all good books that aren't classics. The Giver and A Wrinkle in Time are possibly classics, but The Giver is excellent.

I finished The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch and I gave it 3 stars. It was pretty good, but it definitely didn't knock my socks off. It had really good parts, but overall it was just ok. You can't do half stars, but if you could I'd probably give it 3 and a half.

message 781: by Bethany (new)

Bethany I've started Blood Red Road (Dustlands, #1) by Moira Young

I was super excited about this book, but I'm nervous now that I've started it. I'm not far enough in to determine whether the plot is good, but the lack of quotation marks is really annoying, in my opinion. And I'm none too fond of the backwoods hillbilly spelling either. Hopefully it all gets more tolerable.

I also picked up Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins and Starcrossed (Starcrossed, #1) by Josephine Angelini

message 782: by Julie (new)

Julie Thanks Bethany, I think I will wait a bit and hope a library gets it.

I really liked The Power of Six (Lorien Legacies, #2) by Pittacus Lore , much better than I Am Number Four!

Started Wolfsbane (Nightshade, #2) by Andrea Cremer today, I haven't gotten very far.

Yeah, power of six was waaaay better! I think you'll like Wolfsbane too. I'm not sure that I liked it as well as Nightshade, but it wasn't bad by any means...I really enjoyed getting to know the Searchers.

I'm loving TMI! I haven't started ID yet. I'm actually taking a TMI break and reading "Son of Neptune". I know I won't be able to renew it from the library, and there's a pretty big list of poeple waiting for it, so I figured I'd get to it first. I'm going to try to get to a banned book after I get through these!

That's awesome you're responding to and seeking out a banned book. I really hope you continue to enjoy TMI, they're definitely my favorite books. I have yet to read any of Rick Riordan's series. I heard that they're good, I just haven't gotten around to them yet. I'm slowly acquiring the first series; just purchasing whichever one I happen to find when I go bookshopping.

My bad. I didn´t read that comment until now, sorry :(
Yes. I want to read Unwind and Midnighters *_* I needed something like that. His writing is amazing :)

The problem I had with Wake was definitely the author´s style and the main character, but I´ll read it again ^^
