Ha ha! I love your "jump off a cliff" comment. I know what you mean. Alex is definitely my favorite book guy! Pretty sure I'm in love. But I'm so worried about the next book because in the teaser blurb it says, "Lena struggles to survive—and wonders if she may be falling in love again." What?! I'm going to be sooooo upset if she is in any way disloyal to the awesomeness that is Alex. Unless something happens to him? Aaaaagghh! I can't take the suspense.

Based on your lists and ratings, I would recommend a couple different things.
The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis
There's a few for ya. I tried to give you different flavors so, whatever your in the mood for, ya know. But, all are great series that I think you'd like:)

Alli (allic) Ohmygosh, loved The Maze Runner and the Vampire Academy series is to die for. And I can't wait to read The Iron King and Across the Universe

Marissa | 19 comments i was kinda in the need of a sappy romance so i just finished Arousing Love and now i know why i dont read sappy romances lol and now i am starting Starfire Angels and i am having a hard time getting though it. should i keep reading it?

message 662: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amonika) Marissa - I just looked back and rated that book a 3. I actually liked it but it took awhile to get into it if I remember correctly. The 2nd book had a lot more action. I've been waiting to see when the next one is coming out.

message 663: by Marissa (new)

Marissa | 19 comments Amanda- thank you i am going try to get through whats the 2nd book called?

Broken Wings (Starfire Angels Dark Angel Chronicles, #2) by Melanie Nilles I rated this book a 3 as well, but I felt it had better action than the 1st one.

i know!! I'm re-reading VA right now. I'm on book 4...getting my memory refreshed in time for Bloodlines...YAY!!!! Of course, I won't be done by tomorrow, when it comes out, but I seriously have like eight books that I'm trying to finish right now, so...I've gotta get through those first.

message 667: by Andrew (new)

Andrew | 22 comments Took a while but finally finished On the Beach by Nevil Shute . Liked it but it definitely had me in a more depressed mood than when i finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy . Also finished Demon Kissed (Demon Kissed #1) by H.M. Ward which was a good fast paced YA book.

Started reading Eden by Keary Taylor which is great so far! Also I forgot completely that I had preordered The Power of Six (Lorien Legacies #2) by Pittacus Lore like 6 months ago. It showed up today so I'll be starting that one too. I need to brush up on what happened in Number Four since it's been a while.

message 668: by Julie (new)

Julie I haven't read in a book in about 3 weeks, which is crazy for me, but right now I'm reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett . Not YA and not PA/Dystopian but the movie trailer got me interested.

message 669: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Ooo, Andrew, I'm gonna go buy Power of 6 soon. I can't wait to read it. I think it sounds better than the first book. You'll have to let me know how it is.

Julie, I checked out the Help from the library. I too had my interest piqued by the movie trailer. I'm gonna start that one soon.

Right now I'm reading The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, #1) by Rick Riordan and it is sooooo good. I worried that it wouldn't win me over the same way Percy Jackson did, but I absolutely loved it and I'm bummed that I have to wait years now for the other books :(

message 670: by Marissa (new)

Marissa | 19 comments just finished Starfire Angels (Starfire Angels Dark Angel Chronicles, #1) by Melanie Nilles and i actually liked it i am glad i didnt quit reading it but now i am afraid to start the second cause it sounds like there is a stupid love triangle :(

I don't remember a love triangle or if there was, it wasn't big enough to annoy me or apparently remember it. You should read the next one. It is really good (and I apologize if I forgot about a really annoying love triangle).

I am trying to read Everlasting (The Immortals, #6) by Alyson Noel . It is not going well. I think the series should have ended with the last book and she should have left out the stuff that is leading into this book. I keep picking it up and putting it back down. Should I continue or move on to something else?

Jen (baynej) | 151 comments Have any of you guys read Leviathan (Leviathan, #1) by Scott Westerfeld series? I just finished the first and it's a lot of fun. Got the second from the library today

message 674: by Julie (new)

Julie I started Vanished Books One & Two (1-800-Where-R-You) by Meg Cabot last night when I went to bed. I told myself I was going to read 3 chapters then turn out the light and I ended up reading 10!

message 675: by Chris (new)

Chris (necaros) | 18 comments I've been a little curious about reading Eden, it's been getting a decent amount of attention for a little ebook. But, some of the reviews mention that there is a rather hefty love triangle in it. Not the worst thing, but I am getting a little tired of it being in every dang story line. So, the main character is strong enough to make a difference in their world, but is absolutely unable to decide what's best for their love-life? Needs more adventure in dystopia-land for dudes!
I'm going to sneak in a really neat sci-fi fashionpunk dystopian novel I recently read as a suggestion.
Grey Basically a retelling of Romeo and Juliet, but dystopic fashion consumer wasteland of a world was freaking cool! The language was hyper-colourful in the swearing department. The stuff that comes out of the fathers mouth is unreal! So, between the language and some mentioning of graphic sex, but not depicted, it would slide into the adult section. I'm really looking forward to reading the next one in this world, I've already bought it, but I'm reading an ARC of something for an author right now. Still great stuff, I read this right after reading Devil Wears Prada (sucked) so it was a really interesting transition. I actually went through my read list and discovered that I have read a ton of fashion fiction already! Mostly dealing with a sci-fi slant or culture jamming.
I absolutely loved Scott Westerfeld's So Yesterday

message 676: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amonika) Chris - Eden does have a love triangle but I felt that it didn't detract from the dystopian story line. I don't typically care for love triangles but in my personal opinion the love triangle works in this book. It is a very clever story and one of my favorite dystopian books right now.

I'm reading The Key by Felicia Rogers . I'm not far enough into it to tell how much I like it, but I'm intrigued by the blurb.

message 677: by Bethany (new)

Bethany I agree with Amanda. The love triangle in Eden isn't as bothersome as others. It works with the storyline and the indecisiveness of the MC actually makes sense. I'd definitely recommend it...and I HATE love triangles!

I just finished The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, #1) by Rick Riordan and it was sooo good! Man, I cannot wait for the next book. Next to read are The Help by Kathryn Stockett and Across the Great Barrier (Frontier Magic, #2) by Patricia C. Wrede

message 678: by Julie (new)

Julie Bethany, I thought The Help was pretty good! I think you'll like it, I'm going with my sister in law to see it tonight, lol.

message 679: by Bethany (last edited Aug 26, 2011 06:44PM) (new)

Bethany I love it so far. It's not what I expected, but it's great. I'm only 55 pages in and I already feel so emotionally invested in the characters and story. And she's a great author.

So, I dunno if I'm gonna read Across the Great Barrier after all. I tried to start it and just, meh...I'm just not sure I want to finish the series. Plus, my friend just gave me this one...
Eve by Anna Carey , which isn't even out yet, but apparently they're pitching it as 'The Hunger Games meets Romeo and Juliet'. So, obviously I'm curious. I hope it's amazing :)

Yeah, they do have a lot of similarities. I, personally, liked Delirium more than Matched.

Bethany So, all of you need to read Eve by Anna Carey when it comes out!! Yeah...freaking AMAZING!!! You guys'll love it!

Finally, I'm getting around to reading this trilogy. I hear good things. It didn't sound that appealing to me, but I'm gonna give 'em a shot.
Wake (Dream Catcher, #1) by Lisa McMann Fade (Dream Catcher, #2) by Lisa McMann Gone (Dream Catcher, #3) by Lisa McMann

Marissa | 19 comments Sandra "Jeanz" wrote: "Am reading Delirium by Lauren Oliver it reminds me quite a bit of Matched by Ally Condie"
ya they are a lot a like but i agree with Bethany Delirium is better in my opinion probably cause there is no love triangle

message 684: by Marissa (new)

Marissa | 19 comments i know its not dystopian but it was free on my kindle at i was going on withdrawl without anything to read so i started reading Forever Mine (The Moreno Brothers #1) by Elizabeth Reyes and its pretty good for a sappy romance (wow i would never think that i would say a sappy romance is good lol something must be wrong with me)

I suppose it has similar themes, but it's not the same. It was, for me, way better than Delirium. It has a lot more action. And, the love thing is more like 'men will decieve and rape you', whereas, with Delirium, they say love doesn't really exist. It's less about the idea of 'love' and more about how all men are evil and have ulterior motives.

Candice (thecrj) Just started the audiobook for How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff . Heard great things about it.

message 692: by Andrew (new)

Andrew | 22 comments Finished Eden by Keary Taylor . Really like it. The triangle was a bit much at times, but the ending made up for it.

Finished The Power of Six (Lorien Legacies #2) by Pittacus Lore . It was good, but I Am Number Four was definitely better in my opinion. This book seemed like a filler type book. For the most part it was slow throughout, but had a good action packed ending.

Moving on to Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep to start the Elemental Assissin series at the recommendation of my wife. She read all 4 books currently out in 4 days and couldnt put them down. Anyone else read this series?

Amanda (amonika) I finished Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park a few days ago. It is a normal YA book, but I really enjoyed it. It is one of my favorite books this year.

Currently, I'm reading Cold Water by Annmarie McQueen and as soon as I finish that I'm going to read Embody (Insight #2) by Jamie Magee .

Shari (sharik) | 12 comments Currently reading With My Last Breath by Courtney Cole - third book in Courtney Cole's Bloodstone Saga. There is something incredibly compelling in her writing style. I love reading her books!

I've paused A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin which I'm about 20% into so I could read With My Last Breath (I was anxiously awaiting it lol).
