LOL --- You have more stick-to-it-tivness than I do. I tried to get through this book this challenge. I finally had to give up on it. I rarely ever do that, but I just didn't like this one at all!

Task 20.7 So Long, Farewell...Isaac's Storm: A Man, a Time, and the Deadliest Hurricane in History by Erik Larson About the Great Storm of 1900 that hit Galveston Island killing nearly half the population. I think it still holds the record for being the deadliest natural disaster in the US. I know it was until Katrina but haven't checked that.

I'd been wanting to read this book for a long time since a great deal of my life was lived in Galveston and Galveston Co. All my life I had heard about it and read about it. This book was written before Hurricane Ike which I also had the pleasure to live through only much further inland. (Family members sheltered with us.) There were so many eerie similarities between the 2 storms and ironically the two were called "Isaac's Storm" and Hurricane "Ike"

I also grew up in Galveston. I'll have to add this one to my wishlist. I've been wanting to read a book about the Great Storm for a while, but haven't yet.
