TEAM THREAD: Team #3 One Fang Too Many [THIRD PLACE]

Okay, back to BINGO. I may reread

This was a disappointing entry in the series. I never felt much of a connection to Decker or Dani. I also didn't understand the time they spent on their relationship when they were searching for Dani's sister. You would think she would be a little more worried about her. The villain is kind of sad and the ending isn't very satisfying.

Actually, it's fun to poke around and read reviews on other threads...hmmm...

An extreme chore to read and would not of finished it if not for Group Read. In general I have been an avid fan of LKH, however the last few Anita books I have not bought and just borrow from the library. I feel like Hamilton has been making a mockery out of the Anita Blake series because she's pissed off at all the negative reviews and comments. The fans complain about too many boyfriends so then she adds more in the next book. Whatever the critics complain about then her next book is nothing but those complaints.
Before each story there is a little commentary from LKH. Most of the commentary is about how she submitted this or that story to whatever magazine/publisher and how they rejected it. Something like......Those fools I am a famous author now and wouldn't sell you a story if my life depended on it so I am going to put all of these rejected stories in one book and have my fans buy it because they are suckers and will buy anything that has my name on it.
Strange Candy consists of the following short stories:
THOSE WHO SEEK FORGIVENESS - This is an Anita Blake story.
A LUST OF CUPIDS- This story is Urban Fantasy and completely stupid about an angry flock of cupids.
THE EDGE OF THE SEA- Urban Fantasy about a merman rapist.
A SCARCITY OF LAKE MONSTERS - Urban Fantasy - I actually liked this story, it's about a lake monster breeding program in the Enchanted Forest National Park.
SELLING HOUSES- Anita Blake world realtor selling to vampires.
A TOKEN FOR CELANDINE- Classic Medieval Fantasy (witches, swords, demons)
A CLEAN SWEEP- Urban Fantasy about a stupid house cleaning super hero.
THE CURSE-MAKER - Classic Medieval fantasy (witches, swords, demons)
GEESE- Classic Medieval Fantasy
HOUSE OF WIZARDS- Classic Medieval Fantasy (witches, swords, demons)
HERE BE DRAGONS- Urban Fantasy about psychics and dreams.
WINTERKILL- fantasy (witches, swords, demons)
STEALING SOULS- fantasy (witches, swords, demons)
THE GIRL WHO WAS INFATUATED WITH DEATH- Anita Blake that I had already read in a different anthology. Nothing like feeling cheated.

I bought several of hers on a job lot from ebay last year, but I've only read the 1st 2 of Anita Blake, and whilst I liked them I'm not burning down the house to get to the rest.
Certainly won't be getting this one, thanks for the tip.

I'm about 75% done with Fire Me Up. I'm sure I'll finish it later today/night. I'll post my review tomorrow.

3.5★
Aisling is in Budapest for a conference in search of a Guardian mentor. She's to deliver another priceless item - an amulet - for her uncle, who's given her a second chance.
Jim is still hilarious and Drake is still hot, hot, hot, but Aisling bugged me a bit in this one. I don't want to give spoilers, but let's just say that her wishy-washy attitude in the love department came across as less "I'm new to this whole thing and don't know how to react to my feelings" and more "Me, Me, Me ... waaahhh" which I didn't like at all.
Drake shows up in Budapest also. He's trying to get all the dragon clans to play nice.
I will continue with the series because I have several questions I hope will be addressed in later books. I just hope that Aisling gets her sh*t together and realizes that she made a commitment and it's time to stop running away from it.
Sounds a lot deeper than it is, the story is a humorous PNR. LOL!

I really enjoyed this funny, romantic, mystery. It was a good lite read for the holiday week
Before I start I have to say I haven't read any of the others in this series so this review is just strictly from what I've read from this book....Sorry on the norm. don't read out of order but, a challenge (cough, cough) Hopscotch has forced me too. LOL
I liked the characters and fell in love with Tez. I thought he really made the story line fun to read. had a hard time wanting to put this book down at times but, I have to say that the mystery part of the story along with the ending fell a little flat some. Will start this series from the beginning and see what happens....:D Hope everyone else enjoys their reads.

I think Steph's read them all.

I really enjoy that series. Some are definitely better than others. That one was only 3★ for me, but that's based on how much I've liked the previous books. Still good, but not as good as the others.

Hopefully, I'll finish it today & post a review tonight.
Fingers crossed :)

Veil of Midnight, Bk #5 of the Midnight Breed series, follows along the same type of storyline as previous books. The Warriors, headed up by Lucan, are trying to stop Dragos from unleashing his army of Gen One vampires on an unsuspecting world.
Hero of this episode is Nikolai, one of our favorites from previous books, he is a self-confessed adrenaline junkie, maveric, combat obsessed all around good guy, who of course doesn't want a mate.
The mate in question, Renata, is being held by blackmail by a ruthless Gen One vampire, Sergei Yakut, who thinks he is above The Law and kills indiscriminately if he wishes.
Plenty of interaction out in the field, so to speak, for our H/h instead of back in Boston at the compound. Whilst bloody mayhem ensues as Sergei is dispatched, and not by Niko, the premise for book #6 is set up back in Germany.
All-in-all a good book, will be reading more of this series.

Good Job!! :D

I love to scrapbook, but have done nothing in months (but read). *shame* I was considering handmade Xmas cards, but seeing as it's already 2 Dec I don't think it'll happen this year. Maybe I can work on them now for Xmas '11. LOL! Have fun!

One of my closest gf does all her cards, b'day & Xmas, so I like to do her Xmas card at least, otherwise I don't hear the end of it. LOL.
